posted a message on Zombie Dogs-- Worth the active skill slot?
Yes, it is worth the active skill slot for the added effect that you can have on the dogs due to the rune that you socket the skill with.

No, if you do not really care about the rune effects but more so want them as a 'why-the-hell-not' aspect. Your better off getting them from another skill through the use of summoning them when you kill something that is effected by that spell like Mass Confusion or Circle of Life.

Note: This is assuming that these effects work even without having the zombie dog skill itself active.

posted a message on Rare and Champion Loot > Boss Loot
    Its a good thing.

Here is my opinion with some points for each side of Pro, Con, and the Middle ground on the decision for Rares and Champions having the potential to drop better gear than Bosses:

    Pro:
    • Rushing to a boss and killing the boss can get repetitive much faster then clearing areas.
    • The areas in which your clearing have 'nodes' in them that can change what event they are filled if the game/map even decides to put something there.
    • Clearing out areas your more likely to find a shrine that can increase your kill speed or increase you MF chance.
    • Here's a thought; with the loss of teleport spam and the loss of enigma, both from Diablo 2, pure boss rushing is no longer viable even without Rares and Champions having better loot then Bosses just because your going to have to push and crawl your way through packs of monsters and without potion spamming to keep yourself alive your going to have to kill the packs anyway.
    Con:
    • This could make it to where bosses do not feel satisfying in their death versus the difficulty and time it took to take them down.
    • The decision to do full sub-dungeon clears along with main-dungeon clears or only one of the two also having to deal with the problem that some of the game areas wouldn't be efficient to farm either due to some type of resistance your build can't handle/kill or maybe your skill selection is good for wide open areas but falls apart when restricted to tight corridors
    Middle:
    • Your more likely to find large group (~10) or small group (2-5) AoE farming builds instead of quick single-target burn builds.
    • This focus of loot drops could be detrimental or a great thing depending on how the rares and champions spawn. (ex. In Diablo 2 for instance each area could only spawn so many rares or champions, amount of groups usually increasing with difficulty lvl, it also depends on how diverse the pool of rares and champions that the game can pull from to spawn into the different areas of the game.
Note: This is personal opinion and I'm sure there are factors that I missed or over looked this is my personal perspective of the decision/discussion.

posted a message on Why don't many people take Poison Dart in their builds?
I think the main reason you find it missing is that while it is a good single target skill it has no penetration and if the boss has adds in front of him then the dart hits the adds not the boss. That aside it is a solid skill and will probably be used more often once runes become available in the real game play.

Another thing that can be brought up is your build is never set in stone.. so say your build does not use darts at any point you can switch to them and play around with it.

As far as its viability in Inferno.. I think it has its uses one of which could be that since in its static form it has poison damage it could be used as a pin point spell to prevent mob hp regen.

Edit Note: Added spacing, the block of text was unreadable :P

.. I'm sorry but... huh? Your making a formula in an adjacent cell that takes all the other cells relevant (all the cells to the left) and basicaly 'adds' them together to put the entire line into one cell?... Idk how to get excel to add the strings into one cell if it is even possible... Ahh found it before I hit post it is the formula CONCATENATE(text1,text2,....)

If I wanted to say add missing recipes Data:Item/ Page is the item id# needed to fill in the Item Display? If so where the mess can I find that.

posted a message on Main Page link "Go to Blue Tracker"
In the little window for the 'Latest Blue Topics' the link in the lower right-hand side of the sub-window does not work. the link 'Blue Tracker' at the top of the page that is part of the header region works fine though.

Just mentioning it as I'm not sure if it has been brought up yet or if it is just something on my end.

    -Edit- Its been fixed now.

Wave.. its been awhile. Yay school and soon to be FF XIII-2. I have the Blacksmith and Jeweler's plans writin up mostly I'd prob need to go through and check again for any errors and missing recipes in the list. Should it include even the ones that the craftsman already has (like the ones that don't come from a plan or design)

Does anyone know if there is a way that when you export or copy a portion of text out of excel (just one sheet) to make it to where it doesn't carry over the Tabbing due to the cells; if so it would make some thinks dealing with the code easier as having to go through and remove the tabs by hand sucks and excel lays out the wiki code so nice... plus the whole dragging and dropping code down multiple lines.

posted a message on WD Build focused around Sacrifice
Okay, the idea of this build has been attracting my attention more then any other build for me and yes a few people have suggested similar builds revolving around the Skill Sacrifice.

I'd like to call this one 'Sacrificial Lambs'. This is an end game build and I'm curious at what point during the game it would be capable of being used. Because its focused towards endgame and runes only show rank 4 percentages and equipment is unknown for the end game it is subject to changes once the game is actually released.

Basically the whole point of the build revolves around dealing a major chunk of your damage through Sacrifice. As a part of this I take anything that will increase the amount of Zombie Dogs spawned or the amount of Sacrifices performed. Due to this, staying within 12-8 yards is necessary and through this.. staying alive.

In the build I've considered the need for the following: Mana Regen, Crowd Control, Single Target Damage, Damage Reduction, Damage Modifier, Minor Health Regen, and a Meat Shield with a DoT.

Priority of skills and their effects:
    # Dogs being Sacrificed > Killing the Leftovers > Health and Mana > Boosting Damage of Dogs and other Spells

Current Concerns and Thoughts over the Build:
Consistent Damage output for single target and bosses.
How much could the build benefit by gaining some items with + to Gold Pickup Radius.
Big killer combo would be to gather a large group of mobs.. Mass Confusion, run in Soul Harvest, and then Sacrifice Spam.

posted a message on Do you want some sort of rank for your pvp?
Do remember that Blizzard has the skills separated into two different parts one part for pvm the other for pvp so any change to how a skill performs in pvp won't effect how the skill performs in pvm so the only thing that having to balance pvp would take away from pvm is the time that the dev's could put towards improving other things... going on the idea they won't have any dedicated pvp dev's.

That said I'm for no actual numerical rank and I think that the banner additions and the pvp achievements feel as if they should be substantial enough to allow the players something to work towards in the pvp portion of the game.

posted a message on Adding Recipe lists to Craftsmen pages
I have my demo of the formula list up on my user page on the wiki... and wouldn't mind you (Phrozen) or someone else taking a look at it as I am sure I forgot something due to my inexperience with the item list template and using it with recipes.. you can leave a reply on my talk page or under this forum post.

Just realized something... Blizzards Diablo page has like 241 formulas... (40 1h weapon enchants the demo list has 16 of them...) and at the moment my list does not have all of them on it.. Should I start adding all of them to the list even if there isn't a data space for that formula?

posted a message on Adding Recipe lists to Craftsmen pages
    One further question.

Does it matter if the Recipe lists are added onto their own template like page and then pulled from the template onto the respective craftsman's page?

    Three Templates:
    "Template:Mystic Recipe List "
    "Template:Blacksmith Recipe List"
    "Template:Jeweler Recipe List "

On each, the list of the recipes are being pulled from their data pages into one big table/list

At that point the lists are then pulled from their respective templates to be displayed on their craftsman's page...

Only thing is I'm trying to think of a reason that it be good to have a list of all the recipes stored on their own page be it that of a Template or a normal page.

These are the current Formulas missing pages for the mystic This is going off the current formulas on the page:
    Ranged:
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Frost
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Scorching
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Minor Celerity
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Minor Scorching
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Major Cosmos
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Major Frost
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Major Scorching
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Superior Blight
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Superior Cosmos
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Superior Frost
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ranged - Superior Scorching
    Wands:
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Cosmos
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Frost
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Minor Blight
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Minor Devouring
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Major Celerity
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Major Scorching
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Superior Blight
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Superior Cosmos
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Superior Frost
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Wand - Superior Scorching
    Rings
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ring - Insulated
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ring - Nomadic
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ring - Warding
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ring - Minor Insulated
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ring - Minor Warding
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ring - Major Charred
    • Data:Items/Formula: Enhance Ring - Major Nomadic

posted a message on Broken links in D2 Item Displays
Okay basically what I'm talking about is that when your viewing D2 items on the wiki the item displays will show the unique or set item that spawns from that particular item..

Take the Giant Axe for instance. Underneath the title is supposed to be a link to the unique item Humongous...

Now both of the links attached to the names take you to their data page on the wiki..
    • Note how on Humongous' data page that the link to the Giant Axe also dosn't work...
I'm just bringing this up because I'm wondering if this is a concern and how do we go about fixing this if it needs to be fixed

My personal guess is that it would have to be something to do with the item display template or something to do with redirecting links not existing. With the likely cause of the links not working being the shift of all D2 namespaces having (Diablo II) appended to the end of them.

posted a message on New Wiki Main Page (again)
I had this random though pop into my head while viewing the main page of the wiki... why does it no have a direct link to the main page of diablo fans site? (sans the little link at the bottom where it has all the different curse sites)

I mean it has a little picture icon containing DiabloFans.com and under it links to recent new posts but no link to the main page.... the icon just links to the page where the picture is stored.

Am I just blind or what here?

Has anyone else been getting some horrible lag upon loading the home page? It also seems to have a slight delay during scrolling down the page with the mouse wheel if you scroll too fast...

To help explain my circumstances; I'm on broadband and using Chrome so I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this lag.

posted a message on Adding Recipe lists to Craftsmen pages
    Elaborating on the categorization...

For example on the Mystic's page the formulas are just being pulled in up in a list that displays a name and a description of the formula..
    • On the above topic; does the current list need to be edited to use the item list template as currently it uses a custom made list "dftable" layout.

The list is further broken up in to sections like 1hand, 2hand, and etc.

The question I was posing was either
    • How in depth does it need to be for the blacksmith plans or the jewelers gem recipes
    • If depth is not that much of an issue then in what manner of catagorizing the groups should be utilized.
      • example being recipe 1 requires the blacksmith lvl to be 4 and recipe 2 requires a blacksmith lvl of 1.... these two recipes would be categorized into two separate sub-categories with a title above each.
