I'm personally fine with the whole "must beat normal to play hardcore" as (like Molster) I was planning to complete normal first anyway.
As for the "changes" that "snuck in"...Call me pesimistic, but I have a feeling it's just about the various class changes and the removal of the scroll of companion.

Well, originally it would just fire a projectile as if you had a bow/xbow. However it appears to have been changed at some point. Now you can't even use those skills without a bow/xbow (see this movie here). This is an even bigger reason why they changed Impale to be a knife, else you would have to stack a bunch of discipline skills if you wanted to go "melee" as a Demon Hunter.Quote from maka
I wonder what the 'arrow' DH skills look like when you're not using a box/xbow? Do they even work?
PS: I don't have sound, so I have no idea what the video poster is saying. I just saw that the skill said "This skill requires a different weapon" @ 0:44 -
Nov 4, 2011Vergessen posted a message on Diablo III Beta Patch 5 Complete NotesAs for the impale change. I'm thinking Blizzard wanted to make melee Demon Hunters viable. With the new Impale, people can run around with 1-hander + shield and not have a bunch of skills that shoot arrows from nowhere.Posted in: Beta
Not a change a lot of "diehard" fans will be pleased with, I'm sure; but it definitely makes for some more variety. -

Totally agree here as long as we don't have to manually break the pillars (they explode when touched?). I think the singular pillar looks awkward.
I have a feeling that the "big damn bell" and "giant fucking pillar" won't remain that way for long. It's not the visuals that are an issue really, but the awkwardness of it. Perhaps if it was a giant burst of light that SHAPED like a bell? Maybe the pillar of light would be better if it looked similar to Leona's Ultimate [Skip to 0:55]Quote from Daemaro
My main issue is the skill is called "wave of light" not "big damn bell" or "giant fucking pillar".
I want to kick waves of light out!

Oct 25, 2011Vergessen posted a message on Release Date or Release Fake?I'm putting my money on March 2012. January (based on what was said at Blizzcon) just seems too early. Do I hope that it will be released in January? Of course I do, I just don't see it as likely.Posted in: News

CPU: Excellent choice...Best CPU for price/performance. Though Ivy Bridge is literally around the courner...
MB: Looks good to me
PSU: That PSU is overkill for just 1 card and even overkill for most 2-cards configurations. (could save $40 with an 850w)
Memory: Why 16 GB? (could save $40 with 8GB)
SSD/HDD: Pretty standard, looks fine
Optical Drive: Again, standard...I never buy Bluray discs, but it's "future proofing" I suppose. (could save $50 here with a DVD drive)
All that said, I'm just penny pinching here. Everything you have listed are great choices if you're trying to extend the life of your computer as long as possible.
If you're willing to spend the extra money for a little bit of "future proofing" (nothing is ever future proofed when it comes to computers), then by all means, go for it
PS: Any reason you can't wait for Ivy Bridge to be released?

1000w PSU would definitely be enough for this build.
Good luck with it all! I still think you should wait for the new Ivy Bridge CPU's to be released though

Would you prefer to have more survivability? Go with the Barbarian.
Would you prefer to be more of a glass cannon? Go with the Wizard.
That's my opinion at least.

From my play throughs of the beta and what I've read, I believe the game will be completely playable with any class/skill combo. Heck you could run with 4 of the same class. Of course 4 Wizards spamming only Ray of Frost will proabably not do well in Inferno
What I'm getting at is that people will not really need to worry about class/skill comp to be able to complete content. Will it be done? Of course. Will it be needed? I doubt it (with in reason of course).

WHY oh WHY are my skill choices locked to the slot I put them in. This becomes even worse if there are 2 skills that I want to swap around. I have to first change out skill A with a random skill, then put skill B in A's old slot, THEN I can put A into B's old slot.
Stupidly tedious

I chose this build because I have always loved frost themed characters. There is a certain thrill you get from stopping enemies in their tracks with freezing cold, then shattering their frostbitten corpses into a million pieces

@ OP - Good luck with yours though! Better post some pics

That being said, I think the new class will have some for of shifting skillset. What that would be enhanced by though, I have no idea right now. Blizzard has a pretty wide variety of skills already in the game.

If I go Monk it will be a female because she reminds me of the Assassin from D2.
If I go Demon Hunter it will be a female because chicks with guns (or crossbows in this case) are sexy.
If I go Witch Doctor it will be a female because, well...I'd rather play as a crust old woman than a crusty old man
