-Your character HAS to use certain skills or you will die. The monk only HAS to go healing or you wont survive inferno.
I'd put this as #1 problem with the game right now (playing monk too btw). 80% skills and runes are either completly useless or so underpowered compared to others that they're not worth taking at all. Some mechanics aren't well thought too, especially thorns - idea is good (you deal dmg when being hit), but it won't work when you're being few shot on even tankiest classes. So i don't know what Blizzards internal testers were doing, but by later difficulties "variety of builds" is almost non-existant.
Frozen/arcane/X tend to give my monk most troubles - have to kite them waiting for cd's on heal/immune to get in and deal some dmg time and time again. Also immune minions are pretty tought on a beefier mobs with any kind of aoe since you can't pick a target and have to get in the heat.
My gf rolled WD and by the hell act 2 scraped pets out of her build, they're so pathetic in later difficulties that there's no even "strategic benefit" from them. Besides i often see mobs ignoring pets and going straight for caster so it's really hard to understand why blizz gimped pets so much - AI's more intelligent then in D2 where necro pets could keep all harm from him for eternity, yet the pets are badly falling behind as the game progresses. Hehe so much for ppls who hoped to build their WDs around summons (like my gf), to later realise they're pretty much the same wizards coloured in vodoo tones.
From monk PoV normal Belial was tank and spank seriously. I didn't even realised the fight mechanic, just stood there taking it like a man, healing on cd. Personally Azmodan was harder for me, had to actually run around and even used pot.
1H+Shield Barbarian build ment to keep heat from your teammateas and take as much beating as possible. Runed jump+threatening shout allow to gather enemies in a tight spot providing easier AOE for your teammates.
DOTA sucked in Warcraft 3.
DOTA sucked in WoW (Alterac Valley)
DOTA sucks as League of Legends.
Anyone who suggests DOTA as a game type for D3 should be banned, period. There is no excuse.
Exept DoTA being one of the most competitive genres with amazing replayability, supported by millions players and quite a few companies. If you sucked at it no need to be saying it sucked.
FFA might be not as competitive as TDM but it's a great fun in all FPS games when you just want to spend time killing + you don't have to wait for your teammates to get online. Overall i'd say FFA mode would be best adition to D3 pvp (preferably with larger map and more players participating).
Not sure if pvp builds without indigo runestone zombie dogs (70% dmg transfert to dogs)will be viable since it might be hard to effectively CC other range classes who'll be nuking you from distance. Also if CC duration will be greatly reduced for pvp getting max dmg reduction will be a nessesity. But all in all looks like a fine build to me, just curious whether you're able to go through your zombie wall with spirit walk (think i saw WD ignoring unit collision in spirit walk state during blizzcon class presentation).
Kind off silly to theorycraft situation of 2v1 ping pong ignoring the fact your "ball" will have a teammates support. Not to mention that Blizzard already have expirience of placing deminishing returns on control skills for pvp enviroment in WoW, so i will place my bet on some kind of CC limiter in D3 arena too.
Since the main pvp format will be team death match monk will be definetly very strong and welcome to teams becouse, as already mentioned, he's the only class with direct healing abilities. Also in monk vs barb matchup don't forget retribution mantra, that'll make barb cry unless he manages to kill monk before monk generated enough spirit for heal. Or just stack dodge chance against barb. But all in all monk looks really strong from both pvp and pve perspective.

Blatant lie. Took me about 2ce longer following only story line and barely bothering with barrels.
