Some amulets/jewelery add an IMMENSE amount of increased % damage such as mara's koleidescope, and I'm under the impression these were designed prior to the skills being based on weapon damage which was changed as of today... I wish the designers would create the game they wanted to create, rather than listen to whiners and make changes without thoroughly thinking them through.
What will we use them on? If we only need 5 characters to experience the full game, and I assume these items will have a rather low droprate, who will wear them? Leveling newbies who cough up the cash a year from now? Seems strange.
Because of no special properties and many at low level it seems to me they will be pretty useless.
You'll break them down into crafting materials, which you'll need.
Also I was just thinking about this problem, but maybe it could work like this.
The game drops all 5 runes PLUS unatunned runes that have a random effect. So you have the chance to find all 5 regular runes, PLUS the chance to get an unattuned one that has the randomly selected effect to the power. I find this idea far more attractive, though still BAD, than the "Every rune is random" idea.
Just a thought....
If they were all random that would be really bad... now taking the player out of the decision making, causing a complete farmfest and headbanging nightmare, well beyond the ENJOYABLE farming we do on Diablo. Imagine wanting to place an Alabaster rune, and you get 5+ of another color in a row... yet you only see level 7 runes once a week(playful guess)?! I'd be ready to uninstall the game.
That's basically the same as seeing 5+ another colour drop in a row. What's the difference?
You can at least chose what you're putting into your skill after they drop..

I'm under the impression runes can be placed into a skill, and replaced, but replacing a rune only destroys the old one... they are not reusable, or am I mistaken?
Runes can be changed out freely, so you could possibly remove an obsidian if you get an alabaster one that you like more. Then if you'd like to change back you could.

nada... I think they have found what they need and have a release date in mind... no joke, just my opinion. They ain't doing all this for no reason. I think they're just gona set us free in the water and tell us to swim =)
Followers will still be beneficial none the less if they remain alive... anything to mitigate some damage/support your group will be beneficial... From a hardcore perspective...
I think the scroll is a decent idea... I feel that it will be OP for casters to use on their weapons, having to not worry about the durability of such meanwhile casting spells is their main source of survivability and damage output, leaving weapon durability trivial.
They've gota start somewhere... There's going to be thousands of items... and look how much Diablo II changed from the beginning to it's current state. Think a lil bit about the current setting lol... Brand new =) Prefer the first teaser items they show us to be BLAZING STAFF OF GLORY (passive trait: Thunderous Pulse - Knocks back all enemies within 40 yards every 2.5 seconds for 10 yards) ?! I'm sure there are some sick ass items deep within the game that we'll have to find for ourselves.
