You can't compare how a database site works in comparison to how a wiki works. Probably the best we would be able to do is expand on our categorization tree to include categories for the various variables.

And a wiki IS a form of database, it's just not wired as directly as something like wowstead.

Hi guys! Sixen has graciously given me access here so I can leave you messages when needed, but please continue to use the wiki or IRC to contact me if you need me, as I'm horrible at checking pms on forums!

After the meeting tonight (which I thought went really well and for that I thank you), I was thinking about the proposal to dump the imported data into the Template namespace, and it just doesn't sit well with me.

Wikis have a basic inherent structure with each default namespace having a defined role, which in some cases includes modified functionality. Since we are going to be hit with a massive influx of new editors, I'd like to keep basic wiki structure and function as normal as possible. Also, dumping thousands of individual pages into template space just to be transcluded somewhere else is just messy and an organizational nightmare.

So... here's what I've come up with instead. The Data namespace. This should still provide the same functionality, with only the addition of :Data: in your transclusion links. We can also restrict the Data namespace as a whole to only admins to avoid any potential vandalism of the dumped data (at least to begin with). I have discussed the idea with both Bumble and Kaelten, and they both agree it is a much cleaner way to proceed, so I have gone ahead and implemented it effective Tuesday morning.

Other than that, this is an exciting time for Diablo Wiki (and Dfans too!), and I'm glad I have a chance to be part of it. Please feel free to message me on my talk page or IRC any time if there is something I can help you out with.
