Yeah I'm trying out different things now. I just wanna thank you for posting this! I was looking for a fun build to play on either my dh, wizard or barb and hadnt found anything interesting. Found your video, did some theorycrafting around it and realized it might work with my budget. Then I put down roughly 10 million on gear and now I'm in act 3 too with this build!
Super-fun, thanks a lot! I also swapped out evocation for AD and I'm currently experimenting with the magic weapon slot. Hydra/slow time is what seem like best. In my opinion, meteor breaking spectral blades is not worth it.
I agree with you on the meteor, it just takes too long to cast. What you will find out about it, if you haven't already, the dot it puts on the ground heals you like crazy if you have a life on hit weapon. But that is really what it is about.
I'm stoked you like the build, I had the same experience that you are having when I found out about it.
I'm more thinking in terms of solo play though. Are those the same stats you have for Act 3 and is Act 3 pretty easy for you, solo? I'm mainly asking about A3 because that's what I'm currently farming.
These are my act 3 stats yes. I can farm act 3 comfortably, act 4 not so much, because of the mob types there. There are many ranged mobs in act 3 too, but they can be killed with patience.
Playing with a barb makes life a lot easier though, because of their shout. With that, I feel nearly invulnerable.

Looks interesting, I also use Critical Mass with 47% critical rate and I've never been able to get that kind of burst cool downs.. is this a very recently taken vid?
How the hell did you get 47% crit? @[email protected]
This was shot the day the video was posted, it's less than a week old.
How about the Venom Hydra instead of Force Weapon? I'm trying it out right now, can't really decide what's better. Any input?
Force weapon isn't actually that nice, no. Hydra is one option, but try out slow time with either the rune that increases attack speed, or the damage taken by mobs. Protects you nicely from ranged attacks too.
By my calculations that's around 887k EHP, if anyone was curious. Pretty sick stats. Nice video. I wish I could get anywhere near that much EHP to try out the spec. It also makes me wonder what sort of low range on EHP and DPS would be needed to make it work, though it seems DPS isn't quite as important as say Crit and EHP.
Thanks for doing the math! I don't know if that is actually a lot of EHP, but I will take your word for it.
Your damage input is indeed not nearly as important as your ability to survive. As you could see in the video, I hit the enrage timer on one of the harder mobs, and I could live through that just fine. This is very true for act 1 and 2 especially, just work on surviving. Once you get into co-op, especially in act 3 and 4, work on your dps or bring glass cannons.
I wish I could remember what my stats were like before i could take on act 3, but I can't really. Hard to compare too, because my figures back then were influenced more by IAS than they are now, and the magic weapon damage numbers have since been fixed.
Any of you melee wizards try Arcane Dynamo with Spectral Blades + Deep Cuts rune? AD can proc from each blade attack + the dot. With large packs of mobs 50-75% of my attacks are charged with AD. Meteor crits for over 150k.. (21k dps, 130 crit damage)
Yeah, i've gone over to a build that uses arcane dynamo too now. Much, much more damage! I am working on another few clips I can put up tomorrow probably. There's some act 4 co-op in there, along with a diablo kill where I tank him. Will get some footage using a build similar to yours.
Jun 22, 2012Hello.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
I wanted to shed a little more light on a build that deserves to be more widespread. It's been discussed a fair bit on this forum already, but I haven't seen many people using it. I am able to farm all acts with it currently, and I can't get enough. If there is any interest, I will get some co-op and some act 4 footage together as well. This was just done in 30 minutes, to see if anyone is actually interested.
About the lag that occurs in the video, I don't know why that happens. Sometimes my framerate just drops way down after frapsing for a while. The only way I can fix it, it seems, is to quickly stop and start recording again. That is why there are small jumps in the video too. Sorry.
Ps: if anyone knows anything about encoding and whatnot, basically how to avoid the video looking and sounding like crap, please let me know. I don't make videos very often.
You may want to turn the sound down, quality is not what it could be!

I base your ability to spell words correctly on whether or not you can have a intelligent conversation with someone who does not agree with you. From reading this post I can tell you are not able to and just attack anyone who disagrees with you. Also the little red line under words when you type them means they are misspelled new trick you might not have known.
I'm sure you will continue to defend your post till you run out of food and water in your moms basement but from all the responses I would say most of the community does not agree with you.
I don't attack everyone who disagrees with me, that's absurd. My post count in this thread alone would be 5 times higher if this was the case. As you point out yourself, the majority here disagrees with me.
The fact that you do see a correlation between typing skills and intellect staggers me. What if English isn't my native language? What if I am word blind? What if my browser doesn't make a red line below the words I don't type right? What if I am not a grammar Nazi like you? Clearly I am in the wrong, yes yes.
That few agree with me is irrelevant in all of this, the majority isn't always right. I shouldn't have to give you examples of this.

Dude, honestly...I come to these forums instead of the official Blizzard forums because of people talking like this. You're right, it's a gaming forum! Why are you so mad? Relax.
I'm not remotely mad! Don't try to judge peoples moods by how they write, it will lead to many false assumptions.
I could try using more happy smilies to ease things along, but they are often mistaken as provocative.

Ofcourse this game is rigged, you couldnt make money off of it if it wasnt. To the OP, your a moron and should have said 'NOT MY CREDIT' from the start...not the end...moron.
The disclaimer was there from the start. I didn't put it on top because people will assume everything the post says is shit once they see where it comes from. I was hoping for a more neutral approach from people. Why the name calling? Go get that sand out of your vagina kid. I didn't put it there, so no reason to take it out on me.

Great post, but you realize that logical and thoughtful discourse is impossible in a thread with some copy/pasted screed from the official forums, right?
Can you explain to me how reddit can exist? It happens all the time there, daily actually, and some very sensible things were said there. Actually this thread was posted there as well, and people were very logical and thoughtful. How can this be?!?!?!?!
Jun 21, 2012Just listened to some more of that Chymera on spotify, they have made some really, really nice ambient stuff! If you've only heard that one track you linked, you need to look up their other stuff!! Drowning is a cool track, Curl and Umbrella too. Only heard the original mixes. Now I look forward to diving into all the other ones! They have made a ton of EPs!Posted in: Off-Topic
Radiohead, one of my favorite bands. Everything in its right place is also one of my favorite tracks of theirs! I like your music taste!!
Jun 21, 2012I like it a lot succubus queen! I love when I find new artists like this, thanks for sharing.Posted in: Off-Topic
I'll put something up too, that you may or may not be into. They're called shpongle, and you can see a whole concert with them below. They sound great live, like most bands, but I never actually liked it much till I saw this concert.
A very good song starts at 1:25:25 (the guy with playing what sounds like an oil drum, it progresses into a really beautiful piece of music)

You talk about intelligence but I have a hard time agreeing with you when you cant seem to spell words correctly. If you are going to join in our an internet debate with someone rule 1 is spell check because otherwise people like me will doubt your intelligence and therefore your OP.
Again someone who assumes I care about them. Spelling, dude? Really?
If you think spelling nullifies arguments, then I advise you to disassociate yourself from internet discourse from hereon out. People make typing errors, this is very common I am afraid. Do you honestly think there is a correlation between a persons intellect, and a typo here and there? On the internet? No you don't. This is a gaming forum you fool. If we were discussing metaphysics or whatever, at a university lecture or some such scenario, maybe I would agree with you a tiny little bit. Anything else is perversely wrong.

OP needs to take off his tin foil hat and get out more.
Wow, you fucking NAILED it. *slow clap*
@snowhammer and shaggy:
I think you two really hit the nail on the head with this whole affair, and I agree wholeheartedly. My only remaining bitterness with the game now lies in the fact that I find it too easy, but that's because I played it how they meant it to be played. I had over 1k resistance when the patch came, and it turned act 3 and 4 into cakewalks, relative to what they were before, that is. The goal that I was able to fight for before was suddenly reached, without having done any work for it. Now in most real life situations that would be a good thing, but not in a game.
I'm going off track in my own thread, but I can hardly be blamed with it's current state!

They Said at BlizzCon that Diablo III Will have 27 minutes of these cinematics. All in the same production quality. It's going to be epic.
I was not aware of that, boy do I hope that is true.

Hey there mate... errr... at least state somewhere in ur post that 90% is information took from Daeity.blogspot.com... is actually one entire comment made by him copy pasted by you here.... not that is something very revolutionary ... but still... would seem fair to me
He doesn't care, and if I do make people aware that it's quoted from his blog they disregard it immediately.

Hi, then maybe you can explain to me Blizzard's argument. If each of the 405 swords can have let's say ten different attributes and each attribute is stored in 4 bytes(allowing each attribute 4 billion variations) then one character's stash would take up a maximum of 405*10*4 bytes ~ 16k. Let's say 5 million buy the game week one. That will be 5*10^6 * 16k ~ 75GB of storage. Even if my math is off by a factor 100 a 7TB drive is not that much for a company like Blizzard. If Blizzard can't afford a 75GB harddrive I can offer one for free. Or in exchange for a beta key :-)
Exactly, this change has nothing to do with server capacity.I mean really now, just look at the simple math above. This is a total joke and couldn't be farther from the truth. They've used this excuse in the past (the most immediate one to come to mind is the justification of the upcoming WoW Item Squish.)
Apparently, their databases are significantly limited and cannot scale. So I guess each character database entry can contain 500,000 fields, but 500,500 is just way too much for their databases to handle? I wish they would just be more open with their real reasons, rather than assuming their customers are idiots. (Sadly, most will believe him.)
In World of Warcraft, I had 15 guild banks with full bank tabs available on all of them. Even that wasn't enough for the number of items I had collected. And they weren't just hoarded items, either.. I was constantly selling these items and using the guild banks for crafting purposes or temporary storage of valuable AH items. In many cases, I was using them for long term storage for hundreds of Ruby Glasses (on different realms) to be sold when the prices increased.
The 5 slots in the Diablo 3 beta were not nearly enough for my needs. Even for a casual player, it was pretty limited considering that Diablo 3 is a loot centric game and Blizzard has kept pushing the loot quantity aspects of the game and reminding us of just how important massive storage will be.
Blizzard claims that they don't want players to mule, but this is exactly what was going to happen even before these changes. With the new limitation, there are going to be even more mule characters.. but aren't we limited to 10 characters per region? It's going to be brutal.
The real reason for this change has nothing to do with infrastructure or technology limitations, but rather they want players constantly "doing something" with the items. Eventually, when you don't have space for it, you'll either break it down (into gold or crafting mats) or you'll sell it. Even if you break it down into gold, eventually the gold sinks won't be enough, and you'll want to sell it. Whatever the case may be, Blizzard wants to you SELL IT and it will directly or indirectly end up on the RMAH.
Gold can only be sold on the Real Money Auction House. And it doesn't matter if you only sell items on the Gold Auction House, because someone will buy it and re-sell it on the RMAH anyways. These are all things they've learned from Diablo II.. when players run out of space, they sell it for gold, mule it (and then eventually sell it), trade it, or sell for cash on the blackmarket.
The reason for this change is simply to push RMAH use.
