posted a message on mouse for diablo 3
I have finally stepped away from the Razer series mice. Every one I have had of theirs ended up doing some weird multi-click thing and could not hold a click to allow me to drag an icon accross the screen...

What I have now is the Steelseries Diablo 3 mouse. It is conveniently pre-mapped for your skill keys (keyboard 1 - 4). It could be a bad thing if you use a mouse side buttons for browser back and forward navigation. Out of the box your left/right buttons function properly, but the two side buttons on either side are pre-bound to keys 1-4.

So far I love the feel of the mouse. Not quite a razer comfort feel but very good quality and good click feel.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Limited Edition strategy guide for sale at...
Just stopped by my local mall and hounded the local gaming stores for the strategy guide. All of them said they have them but wouldn't sell me one.

Stopped in the Barnes and Noble store to get my son a Star Wars lightsabre room light and by chance asked a passing sales guy if they had a strategy guide for Diablo 3. We looked on the shelves, none up, so he looks in his computer system. It showed that he had several in the back. I am now the proud owner of a limited edition guide.

    FYI!! :D :D

I couldn't stand those new tech monitors called lcd/led as well :) Led are much better than lcds but good crts are better than them. But if you buy good expensive tv with good blacks and size and all they may be as good as crts (i've bought one with new moth eye stuff which kills reflections and my eyes loves it. Black levels are awesome as well).

about to go pick up a 27" LED. by the end of next week ill have enough money to build my new computer! just in time for D3

You're going to love it =) I've got a 27" 1080P LCD w/ LED @ 2ms. Best monitor I've gotten so far =) The LED makes SUCH a difference when you compare back and forth with just say a LCD monitor.

You guys know LED monitors use LCD's right? You can't say LED is better than LCD. LCD is the screen, LED is the light source. The older LCD's used CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) as the light source.

oh, and i'll be playing on my 15.6" laptop screen while I'm in Europe for summer, then I'll return to the states and play on my 24" LED back-lit LCD monitor.

I agree with the majority of what you said. However, colors are much brighter and crisp with an LED backlight. And hey, who doesn't like that sexy cool, thinner than my pinky finger look?!

posted a message on Diablo III Pre-downloading..

What I want to know is if people who pre-ordered a box can pre-download it somewhere, and just punch in the cd-key when it arrives.

Yeah, you can download it and install it, and meanwhile you can punch in the cd-key into your battle net account.
    Then you're good to go!

    I think anyway ;P

Negative, Ghost Rider. You will only be provided a link to pre-download the game client if you have pre-purchased through Battle.net. If you pre-purchased at a store there is no place on Battle.net to pre-download.

However, somewhere on this site a link was provided to pre-download the client and have it waiting on your hard drive for the release of the game and input of your cd key. But its up to you... pre-download something onto your harddrive that will be the exact same build that is on the disc provided in the retail box you purchased? Both the pre-download client and the retail disc will require a release-day patch!

I have to get back to the hospital with my wife and newborn, otherwise I would look up that link to the client download for you. Its buried in these forums somewhere.

posted a message on The OFFICIAL Unofficial 14 days left thread
I will utilize this thread to vent my frustration with Best Buy. The stores listed on its website are not all participating in midnight release. The three closest stores on that list are between 1.5 and 2 hrs away from me. I would totally be down with driving that far! But when I call these stores and ask if they are participating they tell me they are not opening at midnight.

Grr, I want my Collectors edition and dont want to spend the money on a 59.99 key and not have a way to sell that key back.

posted a message on Does Dashing Strike Require a Target?
The best way to describe the use of this ability is:
    - "You can use this ability to dash and strike anything you can target."

This ability isn't restricted to use only on enemies. You can dash accross the screen to hit a barrel if you wish. Personally I love getting from point A to B as quickly as possible so I don't mind spending some resources. After the beta patch update that greatly increased the damage of mobs, I used dashing strike on barrels around the room to avoid certain death while plahing Hardcore.

    Hope this helps.

posted a message on anyone else fighting with spouse/significant other over d3?
    Quote from axeman87

Nope. My wife brought the topic up before we married and I told her straight up.... I like playing computer games and that will never change. Told her I dont gamble, dont come home at 3am from the pub, get into fights or beat women up so you make the call.

Been happily (mostly :-) )married since.

    This!

I have found that there is no solution or easy way to merge gaming with a happy marriage life unless she is a hardcore gamer as well. The only thing to suggest is to be honest and upfront. I can say that my wife absolutely dispises games but she realizes that it is something that I can never give up. I have told her about this game for the last 8 months so she knows it exists and that I will disappear when it releases. She isn't excited about that, but she knows what to expect.

But my marriage life isn't that simple! She had a due date of 3 May with our first child. I was hoping to have our child born any time after 6 May so that my 10 paid leave days from work (standard rule for active duty military) will overlap with release. Surprisingly, she started having her first contractions Sunday at 7pm and it was time! Our son Tomass was born at 3:15 am.

So this means that I must request additional time off from work and manage the angry wife, crying newborn and diablo 3 after it releases.
I would suggest you keep your significant other informed of any plans to "game." Always let her know that tomorrow after dinner you will go "shoot some people" or "kill dragons." You will be surprised what her reaction would be. "I want to see it" or "Wow, that looks so real, maybe I should try to play!" (In reference to Battlefield 3).

Never let her think that you value a video game more than her. Always spend time with her, but DO NOT over compensate (ie, give a million gifts so you can 'justify' spending less time with her). My wife is from a European country called Latvia. I thought American women hated games, but she had the hardest time adjusting/accepting that I play games. We have come to some kind of an agreement or terms that she likes. She understands that she will lose me for a few hours, a night or weeks after d3 is released, but she knows I won't forget about her and I still love her.

The new 680 isn't designed to be the fastest card out there, but it keeps on par with the best and often surpasses them by mentionable amounts. What the 680 was designed to do was be a top performer while not becoming a burden on your electric bill like the other top of the line cards. There are tons of reviews currently up on tons of tech review websites. Read them and be amazed.... not at its ability to stay on par and surpass its contenders, but to go all out while draining only a fraction of the energy.

That's actually one of the biggest selling points for me (besides the 1 gpu to 3 screens, TXAA and adaptive V sync). I've got a 470, and it runs everything I throw at it at LEAST 30 fps in the most consuming games, and around 100 fps in stuff like MW3 and whatnot. But DAMN is it noisy when that fan reaches about 75% to cool off its GPU. I ran the 560 TI for a day or so just to test it, and it was MUCH quieter, so if the 680 is even more power efficient than that, I'm stoked =D

Yea man, I've got a 470 as well but I don't seem to notice the sound of the card at peak performance. Next year I will be rebuilding my rig... have to wait till then. I love my 470, though!

posted a message on Will D3 later on, have temp bans ?
First, you rented an account just to play d3. Bannable offense. Then you speak about purposely using multiple ips in order to avoid being banned. Read their EULA/TOS and you will have nothing to worry about.

To answer your absurd question, Blizzard is reactive and not proactive. They will take action they deem appropriate to ban or deter people abusing the systems they have set in place.

Ie, you have nothing to worry about for some time.

    PS - Stop being shady
