Watch out adon it's big brother PvM coming to tell you what diablo is and how to play it. Diablo deserves darker pastures.
Wow, awesome to see that you went from a reasonable player attempting to use logic to sinking to Adon's level and using insults instead. Seems to be the last resort of most every PvP focused player here. I give logical reasons why you guys are wrong and you guys resort to petty insults. How can you possibly expect to be taken seriously?
Chill out. It's called a running joke.
Apr 26, 2012I really couldn't care less about "Public" cooperative play. It's every man for himself in wow, and you can even see which items drop, so when a sick item for your main class drops for someone else there is a 99% chance you will never know about it. If you play with your friends this problem no longer exists. If your friends play the game the same way you do, you're magic finding together anyways.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
I guess the reason I don't have a problem with the current system is because I will rarely *ever* enter a "public" quest game.
Apr 26, 2012No you don't have a choice, not yet anyways. It puts you up against a (premade) team of "near skill/power" (hidden match making value/rating) players. You can't goof off vs your friends, duel people 1v1, play in a last man standing kinda fashion, make your own rules, choose various fighting(map) environments etc, all we've been promised thus far is a 3 vs 3 barebones arena. That doesn't mean something else isn't in the works, but it does mean that it is all which is likely to pop up any time soon.Posted in: PvP Discussion
D3 will launch with absolutely zero pvp. Once this nuts and bolts arena 3v3 (maybe 4v4) system is added, we're still talking about the least pvp in any blizzard game released over the past 12+ years. You could make 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v3, 6v2, 7v1, ffa and fight all over diablo 2. Wow launched with open world pvp, gained bgs and arenas. Starcraft is a game where you only really ever play vs other people.
I seriously doubt they will stop at 3v3/4v4 though it is *likely* all we will see within the next year. They may give us such a lackluster system but introduce more functionality to it in an expansion etc.

I voted no because :
- it is obvious that, once private, people like you will ask for public (pure classic http://en.wikipedia....-door_technique )
- I support Blizzard vision : Diablo is Coop PvM, Arena is PvP. No mix
- this has been debated countless times
Plus, by posting a pro-pvp question in a forum section read mostly by pro-pvp players, you give the false impression that a lot of players are pro-yoursystem.
You've made some pretty big assumptions and accusations concerning me, even talking about my IRL personality. Don't act like you know me. Don't base your argument off an incorrect assumption because I'm anything but what you described. Get your facts straight sir.
Duel is fail because it's impossible to duel without letting the rest of the group handle the purpose of the game (which is PvM) alone.
THERE WILL BE PVP STOP ASKING FOR SHIT-COPY OF IT INCLUDED IN PVM GAMES
Calm down. Everything's going to be alright. For how much I read the posts from contributors (such as Ecutruin) which try and label pvper's as hot headed and prone to personal attacks and insults etc you sure are not helping to prove his point with posts like these.
There's no reason to be angry, we're trying to have a discussion here. Also If the pvp forum doesn't draw in pvm-specific players what are people like you doing here, and why are ~half the posts in this topic from people who specifically want to slay monsters and monsters basically alone. You may wish to rethink your points sir for they are flawed.
Also, I'd appreciate it if you'd stop telling other people how they should think or what they should or should not do/post about.

Woah woah woah! That type of mentality where PvP actually matters to anyone in Diablo is not allowed here buddy. We are the minority and we should shut up and listen to our bigger smarter brothers in the PvM section. They know best.Quote from Drez
PvP in Diablo 2 was standing outside town in Act 1 and killing each other. There weren't really any rules at all, and it was pretty much a FFA.
really why do people voice opinions on things they clearly have no idea about.
+1 for every time I see the term dead horse.
Apr 25, 2012Well let's think about the alternative... You wear a ton of MF and contribute very little and get rewarded for it while the other players carry you.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
That'd tick me off way more than anything else.

Their stance on diablo becoming an esport platform, not pvp. In other words the kinds of discussions we've been having here in the pvp forums (for the most part maybe this topic aside) are not going to stop because there is no reason for them to because what we've been discussing would not further esports.
Think about it. They already have their esport game SC2 with 2 planned expansions. SC2 leagues are picking up the old broodwar leagues and growing even now. There is hype, and the venues have been established. I'm not sure as to how sc2 being an esport grows blizz's revenue exactly but I know it has to, probably paid for the rights for starters.
Then they have their annual subscription MMO game, wow, and they found ways to make extra money with microtransactions therein. There have been 3 expansions thus for with at least another 2 on the way.
Now they have Diablo 3 which will make additional money through the RMAH with 2 planned expansions. I imagine that mass use of the RMAH will be key, and cosmetic DLC etc may be added in time... which means they will need to just have a large player base constantly fueling the economy bit by insignificant bit. This means the 25%+ pvp population that would otherwise quit after "beating the game" in each individual's definition needs to also be attended to.
They aren't going to make 3 esports games and have them compete with each other. They were terrified of diablo 3 killing wow as it was, remember all the surveys etc we got on that matter, let alone the annual pass feature?
One thing is for sure. (activision) blizzard knows exactly what they're doing. Each of these games has been designed to continue gathering revenue beyond box sales, and the games themselves are so popular and timeless that they continue to appear on store shelves for a decade and beyond once released. I saw sc2 was still the same price it was during launch, it's been a couple years.
Apr 24, 2012Blizzard's goal is to make money. They try and branch out to all types of players they've gathered thus far in any particular genre in order to gather their customers and then keep them fueling the game. B.net 2.0 was probably a priority in part because then they could advertise all blizzard games and events and gather the community as a whole. Just think annual pass. Think about what blizz did with arenas and battlegrounds in wow, and even as far back as d2. IF you want to talk about them trying to make it more of a "social, play together game" then understand what they did to wow. It used to be a much more social world, but they destroyed much of that by making the game more convenient for more people in the form of cross server, queue for anything from nearly anywhere, and lowered the quantity of players, and the quality (and bond) of said players that you need to do much of anything. Nearly everyone in wow is a wow-forum-hero and a legend in their own mind because there is no reason not to be.Posted in: PvP Discussion
As far as the "arena experience" goes what we've been told about the arena looked fairly completed back in 2008 so I don't know how hard it could possibly be to implement an existing working system.
I have a feeling that a lot more people revert to pvp when the "game" is "beaten" than you might believe. Even people hating on pvp now may ultimately change their opinion of it over time when they need a reason to continue endlessly grinding mobs for items. It's almost like clockwork. It's around that time I expect to see a little more loving come pvp's way.
Apr 24, 2012Now that it's been mentioned, I never mf'd with friends in d2. MXL with /set players sure, but it was more efficient to just join a game likely to fill quickly (like exp run games) and jump the bosses solo. There was a limit to how many cows were waiting through the portal as well.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

Could you not play with 3 kill rate characters and one uber stacked magic find whore in the background laying down some support/defensive(utility) skills or something which doesn't require high stats?Quote from CherubDown
The only way to play with others as a Magic Find whore is to find 3 other Magic Find whores to play with...

I'm a little disappointed in the demon hunter rag tag capes and scarfs. What the hell is that all about. Also the male wizard looks rediculous. Not only does he have the posture and figure of a female demon hunter, he has the face of a boy.
Nov 9, 2011Judgement was pretty good, granted that was for another game. The tyrael costume has to be the worst, and I'm male. I won't get into the ethics, but not everyone thinks solely with their member stuck in a permanent pre teen mentality, just pointing it out, a few weeks late albeit, but I've been busy.Posted in: News

Sep 23, 2011I don't understand it very well myself. Why would we want to randomly specialize our characters? It's comparable to going to the auction house and buying a completely random jewel, who knows what you're going to get. Except this is our character's skill build plan.... This doesn't make sense. If players should have ease of control it should be one thing, the way in which they specialize their skills through customization.Posted in: News
I don't like the system jay put forwards. The fact that the runes drop randomly to begin with is already enough randomization. If you -have- to take it a step further, I'd settle for random minor affixes for the hardcore players who have no lives and can spend every waking moment sitting in town messing with artisans. We already have completely random item drops, random item affixes, random crafting item affixes, random jewel/rune drop chance etc. If you factor in random dropping charms with random stats into all of this with an expansion it's just too much.
The more I hear about this rune system the less involved I feel I'm able going to be in the diablo universe. I have to go to school, work, maintain relationships and support family and friends. I don't have time for that crap.
