I'm a little disappointed in the demon hunter rag tag capes and scarfs. What the hell is that all about. Also the male wizard looks rediculous. Not only does he have the posture and figure of a female demon hunter, he has the face of a boy. -

I won't get into the ethics, but not everyone thinks solely with their member stuck in a permanent pre teen mentality, just pointing it out, a few weeks late albeit, but I've been busy.Posted in: News

Sep 23, 2011Kodachii posted a message on Runic Revision?I don't understand it very well myself. Why would we want to randomly specialize our characters? It's comparable to going to the auction house and buying a completely random jewel, who knows what you're going to get. Except this is our character's skill build plan.... This doesn't make sense. If players should have ease of control it should be one thing, the way in which they specialize their skills through customization.Posted in: News
I don't like the system jay put forwards. The fact that the runes drop randomly to begin with is already enough randomization. If you -have- to take it a step further, I'd settle for random minor affixes for the hardcore players who have no lives and can spend every waking moment sitting in town messing with artisans. We already have completely random item drops, random item affixes, random crafting item affixes, random jewel/rune drop chance etc. If you factor in random dropping charms with random stats into all of this with an expansion it's just too much.
The more I hear about this rune system the less involved I feel I'm able going to be in the diablo universe. I have to go to school, work, maintain relationships and support family and friends. I don't have time for that crap. -

I'm glad that inferno exists (instead of farming specific bosses in hell), but only very, very slightly. I'll be forced to play through the same content over and over without a purpose/reason. What's the point of having the best gear in a PvM game if I can already beat all the content....

Content that was already in hell mode was taken from hell mode and slapped into a fourth difficulty. The only difference from this difficulty and the other 3 leveling grind difficulties of the game is, yup you guessed it, you're no longer leveling and it's slightly more difficult and less rewarding, in that you tediously now have to play through (basically) the same content over, and over, and over, and over. In other words, if Inferno didn't exist then bosses/areas in hell would have been the end game.
Comparing diablo 3 to wow is fine by me, as wow was one of the models influencing the game, as a huge blizzard RPG title/learning experience. Wow did it right. Once you played through the game (The Leveling Content) you then could enter into the endgame, or the new areas of the game that actually mattered like heroic and new dungeons constantly, new raids, new boss firsts, and most importantly (but not mentioned enough) PvP.
PvP is a huge source of end game content that is being nearly completely brushed aside, and I feel that it's unfortunate giving everything else I bothered mentioning in this post. At least it will be in the game, but it's not facilitated by blizzard making it more of an afterthought and slap in the face for the people who have enjoyed the competitiveness and replayability of the last 7 or so years of blizzard titles.

Also I found the bottom of your sig rather humorous/true, PhD. Orc shoulderpads ftw.

In other words we're *probably* looking at a September beta, though it could come in august (wink wink not, please stay tuned hyped up fan base)

But you'd never know that if you came from wow

Not trying to be a total d1ck or anything but I just downloaded it, made my windows live account, changed the name to K0dachi and jumped right into the game and am playing right now, but I gotta head out soon. Bugs may or may not have been fixed might wanna try it again.
edit: Sorry about not putting this in the right place. With all the branching off in forums and whatnot I didn't see the "other games, diablo etcyadayada"
And it looks pretty cool hah. Just looking around the ui and the options you can control everything from how the camera responds (in scroll speed and min-to-max scroll speed), hotkeys... you can change the way your town looks by repositioning/turning buildings and ultimately buy building blueprints. It's like age of empires but it has a little mmo style grind to it (ugh ;X) and some RPG specialization (economy/military/utility trees) aside from which items you can hold or whatever, and in the end is played like normal RTS style age of empires if you want, and more.
Can't wait to dig more into this later this evening. May be the perfect time sink until d3.

If I understand it, it will basically play out like this:
-You start out by naming your capitol. That capitol is like your "character" in an rpg, in that you do quests (with/without friends) in pvp, solo training/achievement style, and by doing this you get points or items or resources to spend improving your capitol city making it more and more vast. Some examples of this are you apparently have an "inventory" which you can store items on to improve the equipment of your troops, as well as just cosmetic things you can buy/unlock to make you city look cooler and whatnot. You connect to the web and can chat/trade items with people through windows - live. I'm not familiar with the system myself but being bombarded by trade spam (necessary or not) is one of those things we all loved to hate from back in diablo 2. Moving on
-There are different things you do in the game, from kind of a "survival" booster pack (I *believe) to the classic RTS style, to base building missions, or wow quest-like missions. If you are free to play you don't get to choose a lot of the parameters of pvp and are kinda forced into the que and find your opponent -only- style. If you buy certain content you can pvp with specific people and set more parameters.
Instead of continually flooding you with details I'm not positive about, feel free to look at Total Biscuits First Impressions on AOEo , or just check out the official page http://ageofempiresonline.com/ and branch off from there.
Hope this type of post is allowed, what are your thoughts?

Diablo was the final boss, and then they released an expansion that added another act and made Baal the final d2 boss.
I think after we kill diablo, we need to find out why these prime evils keep coming back time after time. Fairly positive it's going to be linked back to mankind/angels somehow, or ... something .....in the expansion.

I am interested. My credentials are in my signature, from armory pages, to some of the pvp videos I've made, to my masters SC2 profile. I don't want to commit to anything just yet, is the tag you're going with "PvP anti guild"? Cause if so I might not be as interested haha. My focus will be to enjoy the game, pve and pvp. There will be no leaderboards but I imagine players will communicate and collaborate to figure out who's on top eventually, so I'll enjoy the game leveling up my dudes with a pvp build/strategy in mind while I feel out the game with each character.
Haven't chosen a character either. I've played all types in wow and made many of each in diablo 2 95+ and didn't really have a favorite (ok sorceress was a beast, but teleport imba O.o :]) So we'll see. I'd like to focus on/ play the character with the highest skill cap though.
