I'm a little disappointed in the demon hunter rag tag capes and scarfs. What the hell is that all about. Also the male wizard looks rediculous. Not only does he have the posture and figure of a female demon hunter, he has the face of a boy. -

Sep 23, 2011Kodachii posted a message on Runic Revision?I don't understand it very well myself. Why would we want to randomly specialize our characters? It's comparable to going to the auction house and buying a completely random jewel, who knows what you're going to get. Except this is our character's skill build plan.... This doesn't make sense. If players should have ease of control it should be one thing, the way in which they specialize their skills through customization.Posted in: News
I don't like the system jay put forwards. The fact that the runes drop randomly to begin with is already enough randomization. If you -have- to take it a step further, I'd settle for random minor affixes for the hardcore players who have no lives and can spend every waking moment sitting in town messing with artisans. We already have completely random item drops, random item affixes, random crafting item affixes, random jewel/rune drop chance etc. If you factor in random dropping charms with random stats into all of this with an expansion it's just too much.
The more I hear about this rune system the less involved I feel I'm able going to be in the diablo universe. I have to go to school, work, maintain relationships and support family and friends. I don't have time for that crap. -

Blizzard->blizzard
Multishot->multishot
Hungering arrow->Guided arrow
Whirlwind->Whirlwind
War Cry->War Cry
Now that I look at most of the skill names most of them are from d2/median xl/warcraft

Not from my experience, not that it's all that important.
I guess the point some people are trying to make is a fourth difficulty was like kind of a last minute "filler" decision for end game. End game to a diablo fan is running a boss over and over for higher chance of drops, but end game for people from other titles was the purpose for acquiring these items from bosses, such as even higher content with even better gear or pvp (solely pvp in RTS).
In other words "end game" comes down to definition of the players, and the players have different opinions of what end game should or shouldn't be. I like inferno, but I'd be surprised if 6 months from launch we're still calling it "end game" because there is just so much more blizz could do to keep players interested.

Anyhoo, I'm trying to decide between wizard, barbarian and demon hunter. I admit sorc and barb were my favorite classes in diablo 2. Sorc of course had teleport the entire time. I think the demon hunter will have a sliiiightly higher skill cap (which means it is more fun if you're seeking a challenge), and in all honesty I think the witch doctor looks cool too. Well, I'll narrow it down to wizard or barb.
Wizard Pros:
-Kamehameha!!!
-Frost/fire are epic I love the skill animations I've seen so far for wizard the most of any class. I can't imagine what other spells will look like, especially with certain runes.
-Wizard is the first class I actually came up with a complete pvp theorycraft build for
-Mobile with teleport, easy aoe or high single target damage
-Like the resource system the most of any, *currently*
-Like the way the skills work. You have fast moving good damage skills for multiple purposes, skills at close and far range, slower moving attacks that will probably clobber groups of mobs even more efficiently.
Cons:
-Squisher?
Barb pros:
-THUNDERCATS, HOOOOOOOOOOO!
-hack and slash, I get a particularly pleasant thrill as melee when they are more realistically slicing and dicing things into ribbons
-High endurance.
-Decent mobility
-Ridiculously powerful long cooldowns
-High action class, always in the middle of everything
Cons:
-Always in the middle of everything

What if players could have a non rated, non ranked, non MMR personal "arena(s)" they could enter and play in with/against their friends. The host would set the rules and others could view the rules and choose to or not to enter upon seeing them. Some ideas for rules would be:
FFA, Teams of 2//3
TDM, FFA
Time Limit
Death Match Limit
This would also allow private competitions between teams on third party sources for fun, and would not effect balance or the casual/hardcore pvm player in the least. I wouldn't want this to replace the current public arena (MMR) system, but to stand alone alongside it. Competitive players can still pvp and goof off with multiple friends of their choosing and it would not effect anyone negatively.
Thoughts, opinions? Also I'm curious to know if they're planning to implement /duels (accept/decline with auto decline option in settings).

I had forgotten that. People spammed in all caps so much it flooded the left sign of my screen, dying/losing(usually) or not, hacking(usually, auto aim/maphack/bugged items) or not. The community couldn't handle being mature enough for pvp as a whole or something XD!
^ don't take that seriously, it's a joke, mostly.
I will be content so long as you can *eventually* >agree< to duels 1v1 and like a customizable personal arena for friends, between friends. (IE, you all join a game, hop into a free for all arena where you can die/respawn and you can just kill each other and choose to, or not to invite public to the game, other features such as controlling the time limit, teams, or death limit would be awesome)
This way people could still duel and pvp without it being stressful at all, or requiring balance patches at all.

Electrocute
Requires Level: 6
Lightning arcs from the Wizard's fingertips towards an enemy, dealing Lightning damage.
Runes: Crimson, Obsidian, or Golden
Blast a cone of lightning that causes X Lightning damage to all affected targets.
Gain some Arcane Power for every target hit by Electrocute.
Disintegrate
Requires Level: 12
Emanate a beam of pure energy, dealing Arcane damage per second and disintegrating enemies it kills.
Runes: Crimson or Indigo
Increase the width of the beam allowing it to hit more enemies for X Arcane damage per second.
Frost Nova
An explosion of ice freezes nearby enemies for X seconds, dealing Cold damage.
Runes: Crimson or Golden
Reduce cooldown to X seconds.
Ice Armor
Surrounds the Wizard in a barrier of ice that increases armor by a percentage, freezes attackers, and causes Cold damage. You can only be affected by one armor spell at a time.
Runes: Crimson or Indigo
Lower the temperature of the air around you. Nearby enemies are chilled, slowing their movement and attack speed, for X seconds.
Teleport
Requires Level: 18
Teleport instantly to the selected location.Teleport instantly to the selected location.
Runes: All
Summon X mirror images for Y seconds on arrival.
For X seconds after you appear you will take Y% less damage.
Casting Teleport again within X seconds will instantly bring you back to your original location.
After casting Teleport there is a X second delay before the cooldown begins.
Archon
Requires Level: 29
Transform into a being of pure arcane energy for 15 seconds. While in archon form your normal abilities are replaced by powerful archon abilities and your armor and resistances are increased by 40%. Every enemy killed while in archon form adds 1 second to the duration.
Runes: Crimson, Indigo, Obsidian, Golden
Archon form can now cast a Slow Time that lasts for X seconds.
Archon form can now cast Teleport with a cooldown of X seconds.
Decrease the cooldown of Archon to X seconds.
Passive Ideas, needs testing:
Required level: 26
Reduces cooldowns of skills by 10%.
**Piercing Attacks
Required level: 25
Reduces the magical resistances of enemies by 20%.
*Quickening
Required level: 10
Increase casting speed by 10%
or
Aggression
Required level: 15
Increases attack by 20%.
(though if this doesn't increase spell power damage, nevermind)
or
Astral Presence
Required level: 20
Increases maximum Arcane Power by 20%.
or
Blur
Required level: 10
Reduces melee damage taken by 20%.
or even
Black Ice
Required level: 20
Damage dealt to frozen targets is increased by 20%.
(archon-> frost nova-> pew pew?)
However I think going with passive that will *always* help you would be the best idea, unless the build has specific weaknesses that you'd need to tailor specifically to. Faster cast, ignore resistance and lower cooldowns all sound amazing to me, initially
Will note however that some of these are subject to change. Instead of one offensive ability I might be picking up frozen meteor, or diamond skin in place of a utility like say frost nova. No idea how archon works, or hydra and it's different types and many other abilities as well, but this seems like a pretty sick pvp build to me right now. I think electrocute would be used as an aoe and the mobility/utility spells would allow you to maximize damage of disintegrate. I chose the offensive/spam skills I did for AOE and reliability in pvp purposes. I don't think it's realistic to run up and start spamming close ranged attacks with a long ranged cooldown build, so I chose attacks that travel far distances quickly and are guaranteed to hit so long as I do them properly. I was kinda missing a ranged snare in here, admittedly, but with frost nova and ice armor a ranged snare seems almost redundant considering it'd eat up a damage or arcane power granting skill, or another utility. Meteor with Obsidian rune looks like it'd fit well in this build if there were a 7th active skill, or with testing it could replace another ability, but I dunno. However I think playing with a build tailored to pvp in PvM would make one a better player anyways, though it may not be optional. I think you'd get quicker on the draw, have to think more, and do more than smash the hardest hitting AOE's.
Thoughts, Opinions?

Figures. Yeah I think what most everybody is trying to say is that you have to "feel" the distance out, or rather 99.9% of players will do so naturally, the same way you learn how to use a mouse and keyboard.

Saying anything beyond that is like opening a whole new can of worms for me, so I'll leave it at that.
