Let's face it, D3 was never what we hoped for.

Blizzard did an amazing job turning D3 1.0 around, from a terrible game to a mediocre/meh one, but that just doesn't cut it.

I'm not even being ironic, D3 1.0 was so bad, it took some good work/ideas to make it playable, but imho it's time to admit it's just not good enough, and start working on D4. Or whatever is coming next.

This is a very interesting post because it shows so well how people thinks blizz owes them something. As if Blizz HAD to provide the game you've been dreaming of. Sorry to break it for you, they don't owe you anything.

Blizz releases a game, you like it? you buy it. You don't like it? you don't buy it. They made the "are you supposed to dodge" point VERY clear before release. You don't like it, yet you chose to buy the game and cry about how you don't like it. As if you HAD to buy the game, as if there was no other option, as if you were entilted to get the game you've been waiting for, exactly the way you want it.

QQing about server stability is something I can understand. QQing about game mechanics you couldn't ignore when you bought the game is just a spoiled brat attitude.

I'm getting really annoyed by the rivers of tears, and all the anger in the community. D3 has been released for more than a month now, it's time to move the fuck on if you REALLY hate it. I'm sure you'll get over the $60 paid after having played it for probably dozen of hours if not more, not ignoring what the game mechanism are when you bought it.

You talk about the DH being a glass cannon with almost no deffensive spells, so you completely ignored my (no so nice, but pointmaking) post, so here again, now in list form:

• Shadow power's Gloom -Reduce damage taken
• Numbing Traps - reduce damage dealt
• Evasive Fire -Evade fast/teleporting mobs
• Smoke Screen - invisible
• Sentry Turret's Guardian turret - reduce damage taken
• Slows, stuns, immoblilisation and fear
• Several spellrunes that return life on hit
• Mother fucking Vault
• To some extent strafe, because you can hit them, while running around
• Some + movementspeed

You said that Vault is worthless against teleporters (which I doubt) and that stuns slows etc. are no good (which I, yet again, doubt).
So unless you can have some great theory why these things on the list wont work, /thread

Correct. But that's fine because there was no choice in where to put the attributes in D2. There was a right way and a wrong way. Any variation served only to weaken your character. STR to wear the gear you need and VIT.

Adding skill points to a skill increased it's power by A TINY ammount each time. It's very underwhelming and a bunch of skills aren't worth shit until you get enough points into them, where's the fun in that?

It's a much better feeling to simply acquire a skill in all it's glory, immediately powerful and useful, giving you more CHOICES since you don't have to pool up skill points or wait for the "right skills" to become powerful.

Talent trees have the same "illusion" of choice that the attributes had. The choices are rarely difficult to make, unlike in D3 where it's tough to decide exactly how you want to play because every skill has a use and is powerful from the get go. That's not counting how runes can completely alter the usage of a skill to your needs (CUSTOMIZATION!).

First of all, controll over attributes has NO bearing on making a Melee Wizard if you choose. INT is your primary stat, it's your damage, whether you swing with an Axe or shoot a Magic Missile.

Also, playing in the Beta for 3 months now, I have seen SO many different builds (with overlapping skill choices of course) between players. I played with 5 different Monks in a matter of 2 hours one night and they ALL had 2 different skill/runes than each other.

This is in the beta, where we have EXTREMELY little to choose from and people are STILL choosing things differently. There is MUCH more diversity in builds in the beta of D3 than there was in D2 (I'm talking viable, not gimp variants).

The fact that you can access any skill doesn't take away the meaning of your choice. If you create a set of runes/skills tha allow you to kill faster and more efficiently, or to survive what kills most others, then YOUR CHOICES MATTERED.

People will have tons of different builds, it will be DIFFICULT to find people with the same skill/rune choices. THat's not taking gear into account yet either, which plays a huge role in what skills to use (crit, APS, etc...). I know this because it's already happening in the beta.

Bottom line:

THe POTENTIAL for everyone to be the same DOES NOT MEAN that everyone WILL be the same.

I think you, and anyone else who thinks that way has stuff immensely wrong.

D3 customization trumps D2 in every way.

D3 replayability trumps D2 in every way (another complaint I hear).

Replay value won't come from FORCED REROLLS to experiement with new builds, it will come from the COMABT ITSELF.

The areas to farm are much larger now, the mobs to fight are more diverse. Hunting for large packs of rares/champs with 4 affixes making them incredibly different encounters with different strategies needed is awesome compared to D2 boss runs.

Then add in random events and Inferno monsters being higher level than players.

The combat is more strategic and challenging than ever in D3 compared to D2. You have more tools at your disposal (compared to D2's 2-3 skills maybe) and more things to fight against.

That's why you'll keep replaying.

If you're talking about if it will make you play better; probably not. But the difference is more than tangible. Typing on a mechanical keyboard is much much more comfortable than on rubber dome. Any thoughts regarding the official D3 mouse? marketing mostly, right?

If you want to avoid noise, get brown or black switches. In other words dont get the razer blackwidow (which has blue switches). Steelseries keyboard is blackswitches but no backlight. Blue are okay only if you live alone, if you have a gf forget it most probably.
I find blue also really weird for gaming but that is a personal taste i guess. Mechanicals will always be louder than rubber dome though !

If you want black switches AND backlighting price will be in the 100-150$, it will also limit your choice to a handful of keyboard.

As for the feeling of a mechanical keyboard. You won't notice a difference in gaming in Diablo 3. Diablo 3 doesn't rely on the keyboard enough to make a difference at all. Mechanical are good in games relying heavealy on a lot of precise key pressing at high speed. Games like starcraft 2, a mechanical is highly recommended for someone in the 100+ apm region. Of course, typing requiring a lot of keystroke is also more comfortable imo.

For a mouse, get a high quality laser or optical mouse and get good surface for the mouse, either your desk is top quality no default and clean or you should get a pad. I have a preference for aluminium surfaces like the SX from steelseries but plastic is fine, whatever you take get something of quality... avoid shitty cloth pad at all cost.
I know a lot less about mouse but all I can say is that my laser ikari from steelseries is good with a righthand design.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bashiok (and his big bushy mustache) at PAX East earlier today and he was nice enough to answer some of my Inferno difficulty related questions. I didn't record our conversation and these are not absolute direct quotes so you'll have to trust me, haha.

-As of now the maximum monster level in Inferno is specifically 64, not just "somewhere around 65(?)" as mentioned in his Inferno post.
Not mindblowing but interesting

-I asked him about how in what I saw of a tiny bit of what looked like Hell or Inferno footage in the Blizzcon 2011 Gameplay & Auction House Panel the monsters moved REALLY fast and would not just attack the player from where they approached but actually run past him/her and sort of do a quick slingshot and attack from an unexpected direction (http://www.youtube.c...JfTfktc#t=3077s is the footage). It took a while for him to process what I was getting at but he did (re)confirm that monsters move faster in later difficulties and that they will have behaviors like 'stop for a bit, then come at you'.

-I mentioned the "internal bets" on how many "months" it would take to beat Inferno. He now believes that it's now a "few weeks"; not months. This was after I pressed him on the whole 'what if the person goes through the auction house and accelerates his gearing that way'.

-He's not aware of any real changes in health globe mechanics (drop rates, heal amounts) across the difficulties. He did mention the passive skills that help with globes- I imagine those will help quite a bit in endgame.

-He reiterated that you need to build up your defenses for Inferno via gear and skill choices. No surprise there.

-I asked him about the whole "bullet hell" mechanics (mentioned at Blizzcon 2010 panel I believe?) where you have to sort of dodge projectiles to avoid damage (I would imagine there would be a lot of them in Inferno). He said there are certainly such things but stressed that it's really more about getting the best gear and building up your defense than that.

-Right now in internal testing he said people are finding endgame solo play more preferable to party play. He attributes this to the scaling of monsters to the amount of players not making things any easier (implying that if one person messes up and dies, it just makes it harder on everyone else). I asked him if he thinks people will make 4 player parties and try to create "roles" with their builds and successfully tackle Inferno that way. He was agreeable to the concept.



I don't think he was totally prepared for the questions I suddenly threw at him but he was great (and patient with me despite all the stuff happening around with the D3 line and a couple other guys who were talking with him)

I also want to mention that the Runic guys (who were standing around on their side of the D3/T2 area)
are awesome and Torchlight II looks and plays great too! It's a great time to be an action RPG fan.

I think monk/barbarian is insane combo if u let your monk play tank/support role and barb going crazy with AoE damage. Hers and idea for respective builds:

Your monk keeps grouping enemy's around him and debuffing/slowing them (while still doing respectable damage to them) so your barbarian can tear them apart with Whirlwind and generate crazy amounts of fury for 1056% weapon damage Weapon Trow super novas! Frenzy is there to help out on bosses or elite/champions.
Depending on how aggro plays out in the game u might also swap out Overpower for Threatening Shout to further lower enemy damage (if u see u dont need healing from overpower and monk healing can keep you up). Like wise you can swap out animosity for tough as nails/nerves of steel if you see you are geting pounded too much.


In my opinion this is the best bang for the buck taking into account curent state of classes, aka best power to monster power ratio (more people you have in group, harder enemy's you face), You have sick debuffing power coupled with powerful offensive combo.
