Everyone and their dog keeps making posts about Blizzard delaying release of Diablo for financial reasons. I'm going to ignore all the reasons that this idea is ridiculous.
AFTER listing them.
1.)Delaying past Christmas misses the biggest sales period of the year, which will surely lose them hundreds of thousands of sales
2.)Continuing production means paying all the developers working on it for that much longer, further decreasing the net profit
3.)The beta still has plenty of bugs, battlenet features are unfinished, and the runes system is still being fooled around with, so clearly it's not ready for release
4.)Delaying release makes stockholders nervous, and since information given to them is public, we know what they know, and they have been notified of no sinister delay conspiracy. So Blizzard would be devaluing its own stock.
5.)It's fucking Blizzard. Since when are long development cycles unusual?
But we're ignoring this, because the most ridiculous part isn't all the very obvious reasons why the idea is insane. The most ridiculous part is the fact that some people think that their own personal convenience means more than the budgets and development cycles and physical health of the development team.
People working on Diablo 3 have been in crunch time (60+ hour weeks) for something like eight months. The company has sank millions of dollars into the project. The development team has spent 5+ years of their lives putting their blood, sweat, and tears into the game.
But your own impatience overrules all objections. The game should be released NOW, because you're tired of waiting. It's not like there are any other things in your entire life you could be doing.
If that doesn't sound not only absurd, but incredibly callous, then you have some life issues to work out.

Lets check in.
There was no release date - UNLESS - someone wants to transcribe the script on the parchment paper in the very beginning with the Blizzard logo etched in wax. I'm sure once you do, you will find that it says "...soon..."
are you being extremely sarcastic? lol
No. Don't you read the ancient sanscrit of 'Pipe Dreams'?
Yeah, I was being sarcastic. However - total truth - I watched the trailer for the 176th time and thought to myself "I wonder if those clever mutha-fuc%$^&S put the release date in like Elfish or some shit in that cinematic. I bet Bash did it himself..."
Then I came to my senses and said no - the release of D3 has already happened. We've just been running slowly. Very slowly. To the computer to click accept on the download.
And then I gasp and wake up. And there is a comet RUSHING TOWARD MY HOUSE!
And then I really wake up and realise there is no release date. And I watch the cinematic again..... -

Reading this whole thread, I have to agree with Molster, this intro tells you all you need to know.
It doesn't say who cain is, but we know he is very knowledgeable from telling the prophecy and having a huge pile of documents. We know that leah is related to him and must know some about what is going to happen.
At the beginning, it shows angels fighting demons, and Cain is even giving an explanation what is happening, so there's no real mystery there.
In my opinion, it tells us everything we really need.
Now saying that the D1 trailer told us everything is pure malarkey. I watched it and was thinking "There's a sword, there's a broken village", "oh hey, people who committed suicide?" "A dungeon!", "Oh, there's a random knight" (no way would I have ever figured out I was going to play him) then I just saw a montage of random dark things, and then a tomb opens, and then the knight is swinging at the shadows, and suddenly, Diablo.
Now I have to say it did have a good amount of suspense, which was really nice, but there was no story being told. There was no narration, or context at all. There was a random knight, a burned down village, a sword, a tomb, Purple lights everywhere, and suddenly a demon. -

The cardboard stuff doesn't DO anything to present us to the story as CHARACTERS. It simply says "Heaven vs Hell. Kay."
Unlike in Diablo 1 and 2's intros, we see humans fighting against very real struggles, predominately DEMONS, and we see the terrifying destruction they wreak on mankind instantly with abandoned/destroyed buildings, dead bodies, monstrous catacombs, a burning tavern, people taking up arms and being slapped down, and a guy following some madman in a cloak who's probably been driven insane by nightmares.
In Diablo 3 we see some Angels and Demons fighting in Cardboard, and two people standing around and a meteor hits.
I'm starting to think that you are just trolling everyone for your own enjoyment. Please enlighten me on how the Diablo 1 cinematic sets up anything about anything. I'm not saying it's bad, but it does NOTHING to set up anything and it doesn't inform someone who knows nothing about Diablo of anything about the universe. It's just a deserted town, some clanking windows, a sword, slow motion zoom ins on dead things and a sizzle reel of demons and a warrior. Now the Diablo 2 cinematic is super informative but that's because IT'S SEVEN MINUTES LONG!!! How could it not explain everything that was going on? In a short time, the D3 cinematic sets up the back story of the war and Sanctuary AND introduces the initial mystery for the start of the game. What more should a cinematic do? -

(Edit: Also added some kitties to make the reading easier.)
All of you should know this by now, but might have forgotten or just pushed it to the back of your head. Blizz initially stated that they aimed to release D3 at the end of 2011 if nothing went wrong. This implies that they probably could've released it then, but with a couple of bugs and most likely without the RMAH. If they really pushed the 2011 release, they would've included the RMAH maybe between the first and second patch of the beta. Maybe even in the initial beta release.
If Blizz say something like that they aim for 2011, you must know they really think they might be able to do it, since they usually announce release dates about 2 months prior to official release, hence they aimed to announce the release date in Sep/Oct, which at this point, sounds ridiculous.
In the meantime, after they announced the "early 2012 push back", they probably slowed down a bit and went over the mechanics of the game which required the most attention (AH and runes the 2 biggies) and of course the beta players' responses.
Likely? Meh.
The Blizzard ANZ tweet and the thread. It's obviously not an official announcement of any sort, but it does sounds kinda solid, depending on how you interpret the tweets! (most of us will say it's release, cause it's the most sought out thing in the universe atm. And it isn't the Full Opening Cinematic, cause it has been announced already) . If they do announce the release date at the VGAs (promoting myself a bit ), late Jan/early Feb is most likely.
I also read this regarding the RMAH and Rating(18+) situation in Korea. Blizz is still trying to sort it out (Translated) source:
Diablo III - Korea Ratings Under Consideration
As we approach it's release, players can review the ratings to see if it is within their age group and if the game is suitable for them. We recently contacted the Korea Ratings Board to receive a Diablo III classification. We are aiming for a Mature Adult 18+ rating. The ratings for consideration were based on the latest version of the game and they have been provided a full version with all elements of the game included. We will provide more information and progress of their deliberations sometime at a later date.
I'm sure this won't take long now, since Blizz recently contacted the Korea Ratings Board. But it did take long from beginning compared to already assigned Ratings in other countries:
US - M (26 Sep)(not necessarily the exact date)
UK - 15 (4 Okt-ish)
Germany - 16+ (31 Aug)
So why does it take so long?
The Auction House
There have been many questions about the currency auction house. An auction system like this is in some ways an unprecedented new effort, and there are different regulations and laws in other regions, which we are working on. After an internal investigation, we concluded that the auction house system is legitimate in Korea. However, we respect and are taking the classification system for each region very seriously. Blizzard has been working closely with the national regulation groups, and we are cooperating fully with the Korea rating committee. We are getting closer to release more information, and we will let you know the status soon.
This will take longer to sort out than the Rating. So yeah.
DO you mean the Gold AH? Then yes, otherwise no. The RMAH still has many bugs.Quote from jabroni85
AH is working great IMO, and i think Jan 24th but probably the 31st, first week in Feb at the latest.
Yes I think if they do intend to push the release back again, they will definitely not announce it!! Defecation will get accumulated in many people's pants!Quote from Brake Failure
I wonder what the odds of them officially announcing th their pushing the date back again are, or will they just not release it without formally stating, ok, late 2012 now.
I also think they might have pushed the release back another couple of notches: Do you remember the A Day In The Life articles? There were initially only 3 "issues" but there were recently added 2 more articles...
Blizz obviously wants to keep us busy/distracted. They spread out the info they're gonna release to the public between now and when the game is eventually released. Also the art, omgeez the art.
Just a thought though.
Edit: Hope this bring some perspective otherwise I wasted a lot of time doin this... <_<

Deathkiss posted a message on Beta Key Contest #3Posted in: News & AnnouncementsP.S. Beta, I'm SICK of waiting for it... ROFL. It's funny cause, like, he's "sick" of waiting, and she's throwing up! lmfao. You know? Like cause she's so sick of waiting for beta, she's actually barfing!!!! LOL. It's so creative! I know, it takes a second to understand, but don't worry, you'll get there It's like, that generic demotivation idea that takes zero thought, then you write some white letters and it turns into something completely unoriginal!
Not everyone's sense of humor is the same, and lots of people are putting effort into this contest. I think we all tend to hold high opinions of our own work, because it's tailored specifically to our own sense of humor. I thougth the first winner was great. I looked at most of the entries and the Lucy thing just popped. It was one of the few things in either contest I literally laughed out loud for and I was pleased that it won, because its the one I would have picked. The second one was nice to and the winner has my congrats. -

It's definitely a good one and came in very close. I know if we had chose that one though we'd have two times as many people complaining it was unfair that they couldn't do work like that.
Not to say that's why it didn't win, this is just the way things happened.
Yah, damned if you do damned if you dont. Honestly this dead horse has been beated enough, people need to get over it and direct their efforts to something more deserving and fullfilling. I mean its only a BETA Access Competition, if it meant that much to you, you require psycological attention, that or you need to get a F****ing life and try and face your adversities with some dignity and self respect, crying about why you lost that the stipulation of the rules somehow created an unfair advantage for someone who didnt follow them... fuck it... if this upsets you this much perhaps you should just leave the forums.
My two cents. -

Alkaizer has just earned Paragon level 100 while streaming, making him the world first softcore player to reach Paragon level 100. This is by no means a small task due to the massive amounts of experience needed. You can check out the final moment yourself on his stream page. He reaches level 100 at around 11:13:30. You an also check out Alkaizer's official armory page here.
For those who missed the information, below is a chart showing how much experience it takes to get to 100 along with a graph made by Vomica which gives you an idea how long the last 20 levels takes.

Due to new people joining all the time, we will keep posting it, but we have it small, and at the bottom.
I also should add I have google statistics showing new people checking it out for the first time due to the link.
Im all for any other ideas tho? But now that it's small and at the bottom, there is not much more that can be done with it.

This community was one of the best around IMHO. almost everyone had good discussion, lots of good thoughts being shared..ect. It was really a nice thing to see.
However, since the games release, these threads have started to show up more and more. It's sad to see, but with any fansite, its going to happen.
People are going to want to share their thoughts, both positive, and even more so negative (most of the happy people are playing or just looking for news). People always feel better when they post their threads saying what they dont like (even if the thread is not adding to much new to an already made topic.)
Topic are going to be remade, subjects are going to be talked about over and over. There is only so much to bring up and people will always want to bring up their views in their own thread, nothing wrong with that at face value.
HOWEVER, with that said, there is a fine line with being a thread that has a negative view that can still have a discussion ,and one that just closes it off and says from the start "everyone else is wrong" These are NOT always trolls. People really due have negative feelings, and they want to share them with people. (even if some people don't want to hear of it). They just... dont word them in a way that is going to get a good response (usually they are just upset or have such a strong feeling one way, they just don't care to think about the outcome of the way the post is directed). [Granted there are trolls that do it :P)
Another reason users like to share these kind of threads, is due to the response. These threads often grow the fastest and have the highest post counts (and ironically, they statistically have the highest returning views) (granted they can be a pain for the moderators to look through as they always result to such a high level of trolling by page 2) but people like to return to these, its drama, and people love it =/
You could look at it one way and say if it's a topic like that, you can just avoid it, let the people that want to debate and discuss it do it, and the others just leave it alone. However even with that solution, you are still going to see that thread, and just get mad inside when you see a thought you don't agree with, it just happens...so that's not really a perfect solution either.
The bottom line users should be allowed to post these negative view points, or what have you, but they NEED to start doing it in a way that leaves room for talking. They don't even have to be "constructive" in the terms of adding "ideas to the game to make it better" it can just be a conversation or a debate (as long as it stays in line) about why they don't like it, or the game being based around the RMAH or w/e other hot topic they want. but the OP needs to format the post, and word it in a way that's not going to bring trolling by page 2.
Looking at mmo-champ, the largest fansite forums for a blizzard title. You're going to see threads where people post like that. It's just what happens, and what a lot of people want to post about. Though (this is a personal feeling) I can't stand the " i'm quitting" threads/posts. They just do nothing for me. They also bring a lot of trolling. BUT even those threads can be okay IF the op just takes the time to say list the reasons why. This can now bring a discussions about X reasons. [Those threads even get pretty big on mmochamp as well (it's also about how the community can transform that thread into a good debate or what have you)
TL:DR SO with all that wall of text.. to me it comes down to: its not what they are posting about, its how they are posting. Those negative posts are fine (imo) IF they can just word them in a way that won't bring trolling, and that is where the trick will come in.
Also a poll is not going to help to much here. A thread does not need to always be constructive to have a good talk going. Can be a thread just to talk/debate. Not so black and white as that. So if someone has a thought or feeling on this subject, I strongly suggest posting in this thread, and sharing that, instead of just voting
I also think this will clear up some once 1.0.4 hits!
[Please ignore the many grammar and typos in this. I'm currently working on about 8 different projects, and have had almost no sleep the last few days :D]

This is what the patch note should read. Nothing wrong with a little laugh.
Hm. I've been looking for a way to sneak that in....
You, sir. You have ideas. And I like them.
and thanks OP for the well thought out question
Ditto! I actually just went back to the patch notes and made sure that particular line was clarified. Great question.
Is this 4-fold increase being applied to Legendaries as well?
Negative, it only affects Magic items and Rare items (apologies for the confusion).
Thank you Lylirra, for the clarification! Your replies are much appreciated. I also do apologize for the wording in the title of the other thread.
No worries! Just never do it again.
