posted a message on Queston about MF in D2
    Quote from Azunaii

I don't think it took the total ammount of the group's MF, but rather the MF of whoever got the killing blow. It's why you'd want your Merc to have the killing blow if he had some MF items as well (since it'd add your own MF to the merc's). Total ammount of the group would be silly. 8 Sorcs MF'ed to the teeth (450%+ each) would harvest uniques like crazy in that case, provided they could kill anything xD

That makes sense. Even so, the MF system in D2 was much more flawed and promoted even more leaching than in D3. Now, lets be honest, D2 did just fine and had a huge fanbase despite having these issues. At least now, leachers cannot take your items. I see this as a huge upgrade from the previous mechanic.

posted a message on Queston about MF in D2
I've been reading a lot of threads about how people hate the averaged MF for parties in D3 and it made me think about the feature in D2. Now its been about 4 years since I seriously played D2 and I am having trouble remembering how MF worked exactly.

If I am not mistaken, D2 took the total amount of MF of the group and applied it to a general item drop(no individual drops like in D3) and whomever was lucky enough to pick up the best item first, got it; regardless of who actually had the best MF or DPS.

If this is the case, isn't leaching from D2 far worst than D3 because not only do leachers take advantage of your MF in D2, but also have the opportunity to take all the best items as well? This new system sounds way better IMO. Please correct me as necessary. Thank you.

Uhm, that's the age restriction for the vid...not the game, the vid...

You're right. I just noticed its only on the EU servers and it shows up at the begining of videos much like the Mature +17 warning for the US.

Sorry for the odd question, I just never seen that before.

I'm not wearing a tin foil hat and I DO NOT think it is a sign of release or anything, I am just legitimately wondering the significance of this image when a video is loading.

When I click to watch one of the skill videos, this appears while the video is loading. What is the significance of 15? Does anyone know what this means?

Here is a link to the Wizard active skills in case you want to start one of the videos for yourself.

posted a message on [Official] Release Date Speculation Thread
    Quote from BANT4M

They will probably announce the release date on Friday. Not sure if you guys know this or not, but Blizzard called a bunch of people in the Diablo news community to come down to California on Friday. I doubt it would be for anything other than the release announcement.

I know that Blizz normally announces release dates on Mondays, but why would Blizz invite the Diablo news community to meet with them on Friday if they are going to announce the release 4 days earlier? It just doesn't make sense to me. I really do believe that the announcement will be on Friday and I think they are going to surprise us with some info we didn't know previously. Just my opinion, but I think that there is real evidence to lean on.

posted a message on Mumble and other overlay programs causing D3 to crash.
    Quote from m8harry

Question for all. Would blizz have any obligation to fix this or is it up to mumble to patch their app?

That is a good question. Personally, I would say that Blizzard is obligated to get it fixed. The only reason I say that, is because I think that Voice Chat should be a feature that all modern multiplayer games should have. The fact that D3 will not have a built in voice chat client lends me to think that they should at least support the use of a 3rd party service such as mumble.

posted a message on Mumble and other overlay programs causing D3 to crash.
I read this--> http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4079846429 today and was devastated. I really did not mind that D3 did not have a built in voice chat feature because I knew of other services available that would meet my needs. I actually recently purchased an one year mumble service with 5 seats so I could VC with all my friends while playing Diablo. But now, it sounds like I may not even be able to use mumble. This will really make the game less enjoyable for me.

I guess I have a few questions for the community:

    1) Will Blizzard find a fix for this before release; if not, ever?
    2) Will Blizzard surprise us with their own VC built into the game?
    3) Does anyone other than myself really care?

I really hope Blizz will fix this problem in one way or another. FYI, I am not trolling, I will buy the game and love every minute of it regardless of if they fix this issue or not, I would just really like to see this fixed.

posted a message on Should We Really Call it Skill Runes Anymore? What Would You Call It?
I've come to terms with the new run system. I would have like to have seen Blizzard take it a different direction, but I do think it is better than the way it was originally. The current system will not ruin the game for me, and I will not lose any sleep over it.

However, I would like to see Blizzard change the name of the “Skill Rune.” I know that this is getting a little bit picky, and in the grand scheme of things, it will not change the game-play in any way at all, but the new system really has nothing to due with Runes.

When I think of Runes I think of an ancient tablet or stone that has a letter from the Germanic Alphabet carved into it with same kind of ancient power infused into it that can be used to enhance something.

Why do I think of this when I think of a Rune? … … ... Simple, Diablo 2 permanently stamped this idea into my head with countless hours of playing, grinding, and searching for the best runes in the game.

Keep the system, I understand the reasons why they made the changes and I think they did a decent job explaining most of these reasons to us. But lets name the new system something a bit more appropriate.

What would you name the new system if you had a choice? Or, Do you think the current name is fine?

I'll start, I think the new system should be called something like “Skill Enhancements”
