Man, people are defensive over Blizzard, even calling "troll" lol. Ridiculous. I'm a fan of Diablo and well I played Wow a longlong time, but I'm by no means any bigtime "fan" of Blizzard, and even if I was I wouldn't be so defensive like someone threw your mom jokes at me. Especially when the case is that there is reason for it.
OP is pretty much dead on, at least when it comes to Blizz's situation with D3. You can't blame people for having opinions, neither for complaining, at least not with reason. That applies to any scenario, more so in this case as no matter what stance you take, things aren't going "smoothly". Alas it would be odd if no one said anything, if you can't talk your opinion when you're unhappy/disappointed, can you ever ? I happen to share OP's view. If anything Blizz should be happy as we're letting them know what they're doing well, and not so well. It's feedback.

I can't check if I'm in by using the forums, as when I mouse over the Create thread button it just says "account banned". So I wouldn't be able to create a thread either way. The banned thing was recently resolved by a ticket I made, but it still says that on the button.. weird.
I was looking for something like this when I was pricing upgrades for myself. Then my brother got lucky with some old hardware from his office and my upgrade didn't need to cost as much after all. Before, my computer didn't even fit the minimum specs released for beta, now it should laugh at it in max settings at 1920x1080 (if only my monitor could run the res that high lol).
I've waited 10 years for this game and Diablo 2 is still up there as one of my most played games. In my opinion, I feel that it's worth being able to see Diablo 3 in all it's glory at maximum detail as soon as I get my hands on it.
For those that are interested, I'm now running a Quad core 2.6 with a GTX 560. Should do D3 max settings fine and cope with me running a dual monitor setup with no trouble. Now I just need beta or release to test it out
I haven't given a lot of thought to how I will run Diablo. But now that you mention it I am thinking the same thing. I have a Quad core as well, 2.4 with a GTX 460 and 3Gigs worth of RAM. Hopefully that should run on max smoothly, I'd be surprised if not.
This is good news. My video card is kind of low end (GT 240). I was hoping I could play on Medium, and it looks like I will. The article says the game has Low, Medium, and High Quality settings. Does this mean there is no Ultra yet in beta? It seems to me Blizzard could add a higher setting for release to appease gamers with high end rigs. It won't be Battlefield 3 quality, but textures and shadows could be a lot better in Diablo 3.
I believe it was Force whom mentioned there will be a Ultra setting, just not in beta. Which is nice.
I like the way it is, it's just a plus unless you're taking it too seriously. It's a game, all this "more penalty, more challenge" comments annoy me. I don't play to get punished. To an extent those are ok, but you shouldn't be so anal about it. It's awesome that you can tailor your skills to the situation.
Shadows on Medium look more realistic to me. To have the shadow effect on High you'd need a really bright and sharp light source. That is not always the case, especially with all the dim places and low lighting throughout the game
Anyway! I got a GeForce 9600 GT and I'm more than confident that it'll do the job.
I never play games on Ultra anyway so...
If I have shadows on high it starts to really bog down my system, I don't know why, with them on medium everything runs fine(everything else on high) - I get 60+ fps and it hovers around 35-60 depending on the situation, more players / mobs / spell effects.
This was the case for me as well, in Wow for one. I think the shadow quality alone made my fps drop from 60 to 30, so I thought to myself do I really need to see my shadow all the time ? It was fine but just not on high or whatever. Shadows is a heavy graphic.
Oh and as for video cards mine is ehm.. GeForce GTX 460 and I am very pleased.
Ok your account isn't "banned" if you simply stopped playing, which is what it sounds like you're saying. However if you were banned for violating the TOS, then yes it probably affects your beta standing.
Ehm yeah it seems I have been rather unclear, as I'm unsure myself. I have never had any issues with bans or the likes, as I usually behave. What I meant is, I stopped playing, and somehow after that I got banned. My sub was still active. Since I stopped I gave my friend access so he could have all my gold, as this happened after that and has never happened in like 6 years it's obvious he's done something.
I have a feeling this guy got HIMSELF banned and is making up a story around it to see if he can still get in the Beta.
The short answer is, No. If you have warnings and flags on your Battle.net account, especially BANS, your chances of getting in are slim because there are millions of users with no issues whatsoever to pick from.
I would have banned someone for making the name "PedoDuck" if I was in control of WoW, just saying. That's something a 14 year old would find funny. I'm sure multiple suspensions and issues on Starcraft 2 Battle.net will also secure you in the no-beta club, as well, PedoDuck.
They need beta TESTERS, and people who are responsible with their beta clients. Not people who make stupid characters and flame and troll and cause issues that require suspension or flags or warnings.

They don't have access to my bnet account. I fixed that. Changed pass and all that. But my wow acc is banned, that's all. That doesn't matter, as I don't play.
Just noticed my wow acc is banned, haven't played wow for a year. I have gotten odd mails though, telling me of some fishy things going on with my acc. I didn't mind them as I quit wow, and never intending to go back. But will my wow acc status affect my chances in D3 beta ?
Haven't read the topic, just wanted to say my excitement for beta died a little as it seems very few will get in, and well doesn't seem that "big of a deal". I guess odds would be fairly small either way though, if you consider how many are anticipating this game. It's just that MMO'ing since Anarchy Online (2001) I haven't been part of much beta, and being in the beta if Aion I've found it's rather exciting. Seems like hardware/connection plays a factor, then again I guess I'm not alone in having decent specs.
My question is this rather, -why- would anyone opt to use the RMAH when you could simply use the gold AH to buy ? If you could simply sell for RM and buy with gold, is that even a dilemma for anyone ? Hence making this discussion obsolete. That's what I'm not getting.

The only game I have is Wow, but I don't have an active sub as I don't play. And like mentioned, the -wow- account is banned. I checked it's status.
