posted a message on Favorite Play Styles
Personally I love being a "glass cannon". Fragile character that hits hard as hell. Usually reserved for some sort of elemental caster, be it a mage, sorcerer, wizard. That's usually my favorite play style big damage but keep your distance.

My second choice would be the exact opposite surprisingly enough, tanking, being right up front taking all the shots. In various games, I've played all the roles, and these two are my favorite.

The other major roles such as healer, buffer, debuffer and such, although helpful and in many games necessary, I just don't get the same feeling of directly contributing to the fight when playing in these roles, so I don't have as much fun playing them.

posted a message on j/w what you guys think?
I'm with you guys, I for one trust Blizzard's decisions in game making. All of their previous games have been insanely fun, and I have no doubts D3 will be another great game.

More specifically related to the skills system... My main desire is to have many practical builds. In Diablo 2, each class only really had 2(at best 3) practical builds, meaning builds that gave the class the most killing power. And so everyone ran around with the same build for a specific class. I'm hoping with their new system in Diablo 3 and all their millions/billions of combinations that there are a vast number of practical builds, even if i still end up only using 2-3 of my 6 skills, I just want it to be my 2-3 skills and not the same 2-3 that every other player of my class is using...

Been playing a lot of Team Fortress 2. Great game, also if anyone is interested, I believe there is a free version now. Pretty much the full game, just can't trade items our something.

posted a message on Beta Duration
Maybe beating a dead horse at this point, but as mentioned by everyone else, this beta is to test their servers, a well as testing the game on a large variety of system hardware configurations. They are not testing content or game balance. I'm guessing 2-3 months.

posted a message on RE: New skill system
My thoughts for this was to make it so you could only switch out skills in town or something. This way you couldn't constantly be swapping them, but it was easy enough to take a trip to town to do it.

During the live cast today, I forget who mentioned it, but they said maybe make it cost gold to switch? I think this is an amazing idea actually. That way it's easy enough to switch, pay a little gold, but it's enough to deter people from switching skills every second, as well as creates another gold sink in the game. Even through all of the talk about crafting and artisans, I'm still concerned gold will eventually become too abundant. I would like to see as many gold sinks as possible, to keep it worth something.

I say they should create someone in town who effectively does respecs still. Don't make it so it costs more each time. Just a flat cost to clear your skills, maybe base it on level. 5xlevel in gold to wipe your skills or something. Gold sink and requires you to be out of combat, perfect.

posted a message on Latest word on socketing?
    Hey All,

I'm new to these forums, so my apologies if I've missed recent threads on this on this topic.

Has there been any news in the past few months regarding their finalized plans with gems and socketing? The last I heard of gems they were still discussing the various types/tiers. And as far as socketing in general goes, has there been any discussion of mechanics similar to runewords from D2? Now that runes are equipped to skills, does that leaves gems as the only socketable item for equipment?

Thanks for catching me up on what I've probably just missed in trying to keep up news.
