Kay! In no particular order:
1) Add more fun stats, similar to the ones added in the recent legendary overhaul, but they don't really have to be powerful or anything like that, could just be for fun like, possibly through charms.
2) More randomness of maps (but that would be pretty time intensive compared to other things).
3) Mail!
4) Bring back scroll of companion!
5) Add a legendary/set log that keeps track of all of them that you identify (not ones you get through AH or trade).
6) Separate slots for scrolls and potions.
7) CHARMS!
8) COWS!
9) Infinite dungeon, what I wanted D3 end game to be (damn you, console RPGs).
10) Ability to add certain words or phrases to chat filter so you can avoid those pesky gold spammers. I mean, they'll change their message, but after enough changed messages, they won't make sense so they won't say them anymore.

I guess I never really thought about that. I don't really see how me killing Diablo on Hardcore Inferno helps me or anyone else in real life, though... other than for ego, e-peen, and all that.

1) If by finding an item you want, do you mean an item with a different coloring? Legendaries don't drop a lot, and I've seen way more uniques in D2 than Legendaries in D3. I've only ever seen one drop. But rares are abundant. Diablo is about randomness, and Diablo 3 is as random if not more random than D2.
2) You could easily find godlike items in D2... trade channels, trade games, parking lots where you could follow people who drop traded and steal their items (that was fun). And that's not mentioning d2jsp or whatever it was called.
3) The game doesn't cause you to do anything. You choose what you want to do. Die over and over? Fine, do it. Don't touch the auction house? Good on ya. Check the auction house every 15 minutes? Sure, why not.
I've used the auction house a bunch of times. It feels good to find a really good item on the AH, but it feels even better IDing my own item. Will that stop me from using the AH? No, because I can do both and still enjoy the game.
TL;DR: If you don't like it, then don't use it. Trading is trading, no matter whether there is a built-in UI for it or not.
