posted a message on Demon Hunter to see further revision
The Demon Hunter seems like the Amazon and Assassin merged together..which seems like it could get pretty boring.

I don't think a revamp of the resources & unlocking skills would take that long though.

I wonder if they would do the CE box art with separate boxes having each character on it.. that would be interesting. Kind of like, pick your fav. character, or have another CE version be a different Diablo picture.

posted a message on Preparation for D3!
Probably the funniest post I've read on these forums yet.. That is a serious list. Really, a month off of work? lol

I will play d3 on my Toshiba a305 laptop with a 15" screen, and enjoy every minute of it.. until i get a new computer. I'm not complaining. Been playing games on a laptop since 2006. I know, I'm hardcore. :P

Honestly a trackball?! I don't know how you do it. I'm on a Razer Copperhead and I love it.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Forums down?
Everything's usually down on Tuesdays until around 1pm cst for maintenance.. appears things are down for a little longer this time around. They may be setting some stuff up on the forums but I doubt it'll go live after they're done. There's still the blizzcon D3 forums available, which are relatively new. (they are down right now as well, of course)

Is that the in game cursor on the resources? I doubt it cause that would be totally lame.

In some of the latest videos I've seen concerning D3 gameplay that appears to be the cursor, until it hovers over an enemy and then it looked like it turned into a sword. Nothing as dramatic as SC2's switch, though.

posted a message on Diablo 3 Beta Update
Considering a lot of the videos that were released during the media events, and the vagueness of a lot of blue post comments, we should have seen this coming a mile away. When they talk "specifics" and all they have to say is "We're currently analyzing that.." or some similar statement, that's a dead giveaway that there's still a LOT of stuff to add into the game. I'd say if anything Beta will be out on the last day in September.

Good news is, it just means the game will be that much better. Their best full-game release time would be right before Christmas, and I know they want a short beta time. If they did SC2 beta in April-June with a release in July, I think doing a d3 beta release in sept/oct. with a full-game release in Dec. is totally doable.

Liked on facebook, but I don't have a twitter and don't plan on having one, so I guess I'll be 2 for 3. Hey if it works for congress it should work on here, too! ;)

I signed up for beta on this game in early July but have heard no word on keys yet. It looks like an edgy Diablo 1-esque game. I am just curious if it will run on my laptop here.

Anyway, if I get randomly chosen I will poo my pants.

I watch Falling Skies.. I like it so far..you can't beat Noah Wyle. It's different, as far as sci-fi's go..which makes it interesting. And they focus on the actual content of the premise of the show, instead of focusing on sex like every other friggin show that claims to be hip on tv.

posted a message on Biding system
I wouldn't be opposed to an auction house, but if I want to barter something like I did in D2 I'd rather just do the oldschool wispering thing.

Unless there was a system where you put your item up on the AH/Market and then listed items you would be willing to trade it for. Then people could click on your auction and click their own items and so you could see what they were offering and whisper/message them later about it.

Although that seems highly inefficient and it's just me being imaginative, so..

I'm guessing Blizzard will probably do some sort of AH for straight up gold, since that will be the currency, and leave the bartering to trade channels.

How do you send feed back when you participate in a beta, or how did blizz implement it in sc2?

Good question. As I've mentioned in another thread, I was given access to the SC2 beta 2 days before the beta closed, which seemed pointless to me. In the email I received it simply stated that I was chosen to participate in beta, gave me info on how to download/install the game w/a beta key, but mentioned nothing of where to provide feedback. I do recall the email mentioning that I should provide feedback on the game but there was no link/instructions on how to.

I don't think the beta will provide any sort of negative experience for me as I would expect to find bugs/errors or glitches, as that's what a beta is usually for. It's still exciting to get to play a game before everyone else, regardless of how much of the game you actually get to play.

What's with all the music hate? We've heard almost none of it.

    Listen.

That's the music from New Tristram in the Artisan trailer. If you ask me, it's better than anything that was in D2 hands down, it's pretty fucking creepy.

I'm pretty sure it's nostalgia at work here, D2 had like one memorable song (the Tristram theme! Surprise!). Everything else was sort of partially-ambient creepy background music. And none of it was half as good as that song I linked above.
Like I said, maybe I'm being a bit glass-half-empty here, but even though I like what we've heard so far, Matt Uelmen is just amazing. It's not just the Tristram song for me, either.

Besides the ones mentioned (Lut Golhein and Tristram themes), I absolutely adore "Wilderness", "Dungeon", "Catacombs" and the menu music from Diablo I (a short one though :P). Also "Docks" and the music that plays when you fight Diablo in act IV are pretty awesome, too.

And for the record, the New Tristram theme is the one I've always liked best, out of all the new ones we've known.

D2 music is phenomenal. But is that merely because we've all played the game and the music brings back memories of being in a certain act/area? Early on in D2 I scoured the internet to find mp3s of the music. I was finally able to download them once they were available on the Arreat Summit website. Somewhere along the lines I found 2 Matt Uelmann outtakes that are renditions of the Tristram music. I'm sure there are youtube videos with the music but I'll link them here from my dropbox:

    Outtake 1
    Outtake 2

Regardless, I think we all enjoy the things in D2 because we went through the game and had moments that were memorable to us, whether it be music, or monsters, or items. I personally remember the 1st time I played and noticed it raining in Act1.. I had pretty crappy graphics so the rain looked very ugly but it was still pretty sweet to me. I think when we get to playing D3 we'll start having new memorable moments that we'll store away for future conversations such as this when Diablo 4 or whatever "the next big thing" is about to happen.

I liked how creepy Diablo 1 was, but seriously, I think most of that was due to the music that I'd never heard before, and it was really freaking hard to see some of the monsters in that game. They blended in so well with the background that by the time you saw them they were right on top of you and you were screaming bloody murder trying to kill them or run away.

I will miss the first part of act5. There were so many monsters there that if you had a decent character build, you could pillage so many enemies. I will not miss trying to find Izual in act4 with the lightning gloams in Hell mode that basically char-lock-insta-killed you.

So basicly you are just pissed that you didn't have the exclusive rights to MF....

Nope, just pissed that Hammerdin bots are about 70% of the Diablo 2 community at the moment, thanks to Enigma.
and this is bad why? obviously its not preferred but i can think of at least one positive outcome of hdin bots.

I think what he's getting at is that it makes D2 a whole lot less fun. I was okay with runes and runewords, but I agree with Prosthesy in that everyone having Enigma changed everything, and made your class (if you were a sorceress) feel a whole lot less valuable. To put it in other terms. Let's say you're a high school basketball player and you happen to be 6'11 and can dunk like Blake Griffin.. most HS basketball teams don't have a superstar like that.. well let's say that some scientist creates a shoe that literally makes it so that the wearer, no matter what height, can dunk.. Now as a 6'11 phenom who loves bringing it down on people's heads, how fun would it be to play the game of basketball when everyone has a pair of these shoes and now EVERYONE can dunk..? you don't feel so special anymore, and it kind of takes the luster and awe out of the act itself. And as for the Hdin bot thing.. just pretend every HS basketball team now has some sort of irobot player that can wipe the floor with everyone.. that'd make the game boooorrrriiingg..

As for some of my fav. items.. I did like the Windforce, and Trang-Oul's set..Only I wish Trang-Oul's didn't suck so hard.. oh and the Homunculous..that's just a sweet name.

I think this would have looked better had you used Animoto. Then you'd have tons of dynamic screen changes.

I plan on full screening this later to get some more of the detail.
