It'll let you install, maybe they'll even let you activate it on your b-net account, but the servers are still not open for the public to access, so it doesn't matter.

Box is the same as pre-downloaded installer, you can't decrypt it until servers go up in your region.

You're saying the data on the DVD is the EXACT same thing you would download? Blue Post? Evidence? Everything I have read thus far shows that the Retail Version IS NOT the same as the Digital Version.
How exactly do you think the stuff on the disc is ANY different than the digital download? It's the files to play the actual game, therefore they CAN NOT BE DIFFERENT!

Would "Chinese Farmers" really be an issue if our game playing is separated by regions? How can a Chinese farmer sell stuff on my server if he isn't in the region to begin with? Do we choose our region at start up, or is it automatically assigned to us by where we live?

posted a message on Naughty boy leaking information.
I think I am the only one who didn't even bother reading the leaked stuff. I'd rather not give that douche any attention if it's fake or not. I'll show my respects to Force and Sixen and wait for them to put out stuff. Why get cloud your mind with an idea that might be fake anyhow. Just wait for the real deal.

Wow, someone throws out a number as the date of the beta and it's legit? Y'all are gullible.

I'm not denying the possibility that it's real, but it's pretty unlikely. There have been several fake leaks before this. They do it just to troll.

There's no reason to leak it like this is the thing. These people are given press kits. If someone wanted to leak, they could give real screenshots, video, etc to someone else to post, or post it themselves in a discreet manner. They wouldn't need to speak vaguely on a twitter account.

If he follows this up with media maybe it's worth buying into.
Definitely true. They are there for a "Press Event". Meaning the people that are there to get information to bring to their own website/magazines/etc. so that they are able to make money. Leaking the information early is only going to take away from the chances of people looking at your site or your magazine when you actually give out the information.
It would be counter productive for someone to leak that is going to make money from handing the information out when its allowed.

posted a message on Another Take on the Cool Downs
So here is my take on the cooldowns: Have they SPECIFICALLY said that the three Tier 7 Barb abilities are on a SHARED cool down? Cause if they aren't, then you are potentially looking at one major ability roughly every 40 seconds for your individual character. And being that Blizzard is trying to encourage party game play, if you are grouped together with 4 players, thats pretty much a potential super ability every 10 seconds for your party. I say "potentially" because it assumes that every class will have three tier 7 abilities, you will be able to spec your skills such that you have at least one point in each tier 7 ability, you will be able to make a viable build where 3 of your 7 active abilities are your tier 7 abilities, that all tier 7 abilities will have 2 minute cool downs, and that the cool downs for tier 7 abilities are NOT shared between themselves.
So if that is the case, you are looking at PLENTY of monster mashing power. I TRUST Blizzard knows what they are doing with the cooldowns, and it just might be that is the case that just because one ability has a 2 minute cooldown doesn’t mean a whole party full of people that all have a full set of tier 7 abilities can’t spam the hell out of them.

I apologize if this has been discussed in these forums already. I haven’t seen anything such as this in any of the other cooldown threads though.

Anyhow, that is my 2 cents on the subject.

posted a message on Cooling Down with Cooldowns
It really all depends on the gameplay and how powerful the abilities are at max level. 2 minutes might not be long enough if it's just an on-screen nuke and every character on your screen dies.
Like a lot of others have said, I trust Blizzard knows what they are doing at this point.

My guess is just like the Followers that will pop in and out of battle when your friends come into and out of your games. You'll see an NPC or multiple NPC's that are just mobile merchants wandering the lands. They'll come by every so often and you'll be able to trade with them if you want.

posted a message on Level 99 cap as oppose to 100.
    Quote from ZTZaorish

P.S: My highest level character is only level 51, and I am already starting to feel some of the tediousness of leveling. It is becoming significantly harder each level. I can't imagine how bad it must be at level 90+...
It wasn't TOO bad before the Secret Cow Level got nerfed in 1.10 (I think it was 1.10). You used to be able to go in there and level up pretty quickly. But Blizzard thought that the end game got ruined because people would just be doing cow level runs to level up instead of actually playing the game.
Well, if you're going to make us grind through the end stage levels, at least make it enjoyable by running around and collecting HOARDS AND HOARDS of cows and then spamming them down with 8 other players. That was fun as hell and actually pretty challenging. They nerfed it, so then the next best way to get XP was the Worldstone Keep level doing the Throne of Destruction.
Either way, you are just grinding to get to max level, so why not have a level where you can just go in there and have TONS of enemies to demolish that drop a decent item every now and then as well? People did not like the Cow Level XP Nerf!

May have had something to do with the code of the game. The way it was written, it may have been a big ordeal or disaster had they had a 3 digit number for a cap instead of a 2 digit number. Computers are funny that way sometimes.

    Quote from Wingless

My guess is the beta will start august 1st.

The current test/build they got going in alpha, so by inviting you to a "world 1st" of the beta, the beta is ready. -Unless they don't take it THAT literally ;)

And if the beta is ready come august 1st, why sit on it? Then they would have the build they wanted tested ready and should they then just... wait? Just to make it more challenging for themselves to release in 2011? :)

    That's my logic at least.
If I remember right, haven't they already been doing internal testing of the beta? If the beta has already started to be tested internally, why sit on it? Just because it's ready to go, doesn't mean they'll release it to the public. I would bet within 10 days of the August 1st (assumed) release of the rest of the unknown systems, we'll see it finally pop out to the first wave of public testers.
Either way, it is exciting news. In roughly a month we'll be getting so much info the podcast will have to be 2 hours long!
