Anything >= 10 sec just doesn't sit right for me. Diablo is a hack and slash game, not grand strategy.

While it's a good way to 'pigeonhole' people into using/getting the low tier skills as well and not just switch over to the high tier ones as soon as you can, I think D2 does a good job at that as well with synergies. Especially if you can expand on that idea.

Diablo and Diablo 2 were both hack n' slash but Diablo 3 is different as far as I know. It might not be all about strategy but thinking you can run into a group of monsters and just hack n' slash your way through them might be possible but sometimes you have to use certain "OH SH*T" skills to get rid of them and spamming those 2 minute CD skills as if they have no cooldown what would be the fun in using them if you continuously spam them, doesn't make them all high & mighty anymore now does it?

Also if they were no CD on those skills they would make your lower tier skills obsolete and you'll never want to use those skills again.

Cooldowns force you to think strategically and allow for some skills to be way awesome.

I much rather have a 2min cd skill, than the same skill without cooldown, but doing about the same damage as a normal attack.

Cooldowns is whats keeping it from being a one-skill-use mash-fest.

I really don't see why people keep thinking CD=WoW.

I like the diversity, and honestly wouldn't be playing D3 for long if there was none.

But dont you think 2 min is way too long? Dont forget we will have only 7 skills and that includes everything, mobility, offensive, defense.... thinking of which 3 or 4 for offense leaving you with only 3 for mobility and defense, if with that huge CD of 2 min maybe on 2 of your offensive skills, you will end up spamming on 2 skills once again.

There are traits, gems and runes that lower the cooldowns of skills.

and no, we'll have a total of 20 skills but only 7 will be usable at one time.

FYI: Don't believe the hype of DPI it's misleading and as long as your mouse moves to your liking, you'll be good.

Remember to go laser or don't buy a mouse at all lol.

posted a message on Torchlight got boring fast
Oddly enough even though i'm a big fan of the ARPG genre this game didn't cut it for me to put my time into this and here's my reasons...

    • Childish design and graphics, the characters felt cartoonish and bulky like the characters off the movie "The Incredibles".
    • Loot was horrible when finding different loot that had nothing to do with my class, continuously.
    • Having to put points into stats that are worth nothing to my class to wear a piece of gear that was made for the class I played.
    • The skills felt bland, boring, and unskillful --- The skills trees were boring aswell and I just threw points in without thinking about it.
    • Pet AI was horrible - My pet got stuck alot and there was no way to call it back to me to help me fight.
    • Quests were boring and the storyline felt bland and didn't keep my attention long enough to read the whole story, so I just skipped through quest text and continued doing what I was told to do for the quests.
Overall the game didn't keep my attention long enough. I really hope I don't feel the same way about Diablo 3.

I'm happy I got the $3 deal that happened with steam because a extra $12 would of went to a waste.

The long cooldown's are to be used wisely and not repetitively.

You already have enough spells / skills to be used the higher tier skills are a added benefit for that BIG BANG.

    Quote from Ophion

Sorceress is probably the easiest in Normal and Nightmare because of how item independent she is, but unless you have enough resistance reduction (such as Infinity) you will have big problems in hell. Same goes for Assassin. On the other hand weapon based characters like the Barbarian will do even worse unless you have a good enough weapon for them. The safest bet is probably the bone Necromancer since you plenty of damage but won't suffer from resists. Wind Druid might work as well, I have never tried it so I don't know for sure.

I'm wanting to try necro & druid but since they aren't involved somewhat on their play style in Diablo 3 I don't know if I want to take that risk.

posted a message on Hey, what if D3 sucks bad?
My only gripe is the system requirements when my PC can barely run SC2 on medium idk if I'll be able to run Diablo 3.

I highly doubt D3 will suck, if you think it sucks then maybe you lost interest in the game itself?

    #1 rule on buying a put-together computer: wait until there's a deal.

This and also wait until the reason you want to use your new rig for comes out, so hopefully by the time that does you'll have great deals and the newer stuff comes out to buy during that time period.

Look into computer hardware, you got a while til' Diablo 3.

    www.tomshardware.com helps alot when choosing.

    Quote from Magistrate

Diablo is synonymous with repetition. Every aspect of the game is a grindfest.

Im going to stick with the sorceress because of the amount of different spells / skills available to her.

I know, what I meant by repetition is pressing 1 specific spell / skill over and over as a whole class.

    Nice smart ass reply though.

SSD's only boot game loading times aswell as OS loading times because the SSD goes through data alot quicker than a HDD.

With a SSD when you click on a program, it pops it up literally a second or less after clicking it.

The only benefit to gaming is loading times for example going to a new zone in WoW or getting inside and out of doors in New Vegas, they load alot faster compared to a HDD.

The hammerdin is pretty boring. Very powerful but it's the same spell for the entire game.

Ew... repetition ruins the fun for me. I'll pass. :P

Thanks for the input guys! I've been reading alot about the hammerdin and it sounds tempting but so far my sorcerer is doing fine I just wanted to see what other class is fun in terms of later levels and tree's.
