PiousFlea posted a message on Blizz asks for suggestions on Stat Page1) The top of the Character Sheet should show HP and Mana/AP/Spirit/etc, in the same section that displays Level and XP.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
2) The "Armor and Resistances" section should be togglable between raw numbers and percents. So if 100 Armor gives you 20% physical damage reduction, you could toggle the display between "100" and "20%". This would be especially valuable for magical resistances. I don't know what 180 fire resist means, but I do know what 75% fire resist means.
3) The section where it shows "Basic Attack: 3.46 Damage Per Second" should be able to display any ability that you have. I don't care how much DPS my Wizard's melee attack does, but I do care how much her Arcane Orb does.
4) The Character Details should display every stat possible. All those little things like thorns damage, light radius, faster hit recovery, "damage reduced by X", "X increased EXP from kills", any affix that can spawn on an item needs to be included on the Character Details.
5) All of the achievements (APM, monsters killed, EXP per minute, etc) can go on the Achievements page. They don't belong on the Character Sheet. -

Kodachii posted a message on *Spoilers* Wizard BuildsOk, I won't know for sure until I've played with all the abilities and see how they work, and their runestones (that look interesting) work. But I have a fairly good idea of where I want to go, in a namely pvp build that could be used (with high skillcap) in pvM.Posted in: Wizard: The Ancient Repositories
Electrocute
Requires Level: 6
Lightning arcs from the Wizard's fingertips towards an enemy, dealing Lightning damage.
Runes: Crimson, Obsidian, or Golden
Creates a streak of lightning that pierces targets, hitting all enemies in its path for X Lightning damage.
Blast a cone of lightning that causes X Lightning damage to all affected targets.
Gain some Arcane Power for every target hit by Electrocute.
Disintegrate
Requires Level: 12
Emanate a beam of pure energy, dealing Arcane damage per second and disintegrating enemies it kills.
Runes: Crimson or Indigo
Damage increases slowly over time to inflict a maximum of X Arcane damage per second.
Increase the width of the beam allowing it to hit more enemies for X Arcane damage per second.
Frost Nova
An explosion of ice freezes nearby enemies for X seconds, dealing Cold damage.
Runes: Crimson or Golden
Enemies take more damage while frozen or chilled by Frost Nova.
Reduce cooldown to X seconds.
Ice Armor
Surrounds the Wizard in a barrier of ice that increases armor by a percentage, freezes attackers, and causes Cold damage. You can only be affected by one armor spell at a time.
Runes: Crimson or Indigo
Attackers take Cold damage and are chilled for X seconds.
Lower the temperature of the air around you. Nearby enemies are chilled, slowing their movement and attack speed, for X seconds.
Teleport
Requires Level: 18
Teleport instantly to the selected location.Teleport instantly to the selected location.
Runes: All
Casts a low power Wave of Force on arrival dealing physical damage to all enemies nearby.
Summon X mirror images for Y seconds on arrival.
For X seconds after you appear you will take Y% less damage.
Casting Teleport again within X seconds will instantly bring you back to your original location.
After casting Teleport there is a X second delay before the cooldown begins.
Archon
Requires Level: 29
Transform into a being of pure arcane energy for 15 seconds. While in archon form your normal abilities are replaced by powerful archon abilities and your armor and resistances are increased by 40%. Every enemy killed while in archon form adds 1 second to the duration.
Runes: Crimson, Indigo, Obsidian, Golden
Increase damage of all Archon abilities by X%.
Archon form can now cast a Slow Time that lasts for X seconds.
Archon form can now cast Teleport with a cooldown of X seconds.
Decrease the cooldown of Archon to X seconds.
Passive Ideas, needs testing:
**Temporal Shift
Required level: 26
Reduces cooldowns of skills by 10%.
**Piercing Attacks
Required level: 25
Reduces the magical resistances of enemies by 20%.
*Quickening
Required level: 10
Increase casting speed by 10%
or
Aggression
Required level: 15
Increases attack by 20%.
(though if this doesn't increase spell power damage, nevermind)
or
Astral Presence
Required level: 20
Increases maximum Arcane Power by 20%.
or
Blur
Required level: 10
Reduces melee damage taken by 20%.
or even
Black Ice
Required level: 20
Damage dealt to frozen targets is increased by 20%.
(archon-> frost nova-> pew pew?)
However I think going with passive that will *always* help you would be the best idea, unless the build has specific weaknesses that you'd need to tailor specifically to. Faster cast, ignore resistance and lower cooldowns all sound amazing to me, initially
Will note however that some of these are subject to change. Instead of one offensive ability I might be picking up frozen meteor, or diamond skin in place of a utility like say frost nova. No idea how archon works, or hydra and it's different types and many other abilities as well, but this seems like a pretty sick pvp build to me right now. I think electrocute would be used as an aoe and the mobility/utility spells would allow you to maximize damage of disintegrate. I chose the offensive/spam skills I did for AOE and reliability in pvp purposes. I don't think it's realistic to run up and start spamming close ranged attacks with a long ranged cooldown build, so I chose attacks that travel far distances quickly and are guaranteed to hit so long as I do them properly. I was kinda missing a ranged snare in here, admittedly, but with frost nova and ice armor a ranged snare seems almost redundant considering it'd eat up a damage or arcane power granting skill, or another utility. Meteor with Obsidian rune looks like it'd fit well in this build if there were a 7th active skill, or with testing it could replace another ability, but I dunno. However I think playing with a build tailored to pvp in PvM would make one a better player anyways, though it may not be optional. I think you'd get quicker on the draw, have to think more, and do more than smash the hardest hitting AOE's.
Thoughts, Opinions?

evilix posted a message on Normal, Nightmare, Hell and INFERNOI found this interview by looking at the source code of the page for the beta announcement of D3. It's a short interview but it has some pretty cool stuff, I'm not sure if it was part of the press kit or not. I'm also not sure why it's not available from the side menu on the page, maybe it was meant to be released later?Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
Interesting tidbit about D3's difficulty modes. Kevin mentions "hell and inferno" as being the games harder difficulty modes, I'm curious if it goes Normal, Nightmare, Hell, Inferno?
This picture shows that Nightmare difficulty is indeed in the game. Four difficulty modes!?! - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I was/am one of those Wizards who farmed and have been farming act 3/4 since 3 days after launch - too effictevely.
I too have noticed that even though there are garunteed rare drops, the amount of iLvl63 items I get is much much less overall than it was.
You post this as though its a bad thing.. well you are flat wrong.
Was I used to pulling out great items in a 10 hours play session? Yes I was, but did I understand that what I was doing felt wrong and slightly broken (farming what was suposed to take months on day 3), yes I did. It was / is breaking the economy of the game - they OBVIOSULY didn't spend alot of time thinking late game items or item hunting through ( crapy legendaries) and as you say, they didnt redict people like me and you would be farming the best items so fast.
It ruined the Act IV of Hell, and Act 1 and 2 of Inferno expireience. It 100% ruined it. As a "normal" player, you see these insnane items on the AH, in increasing numbers, and you say.. "why am I farming this crap when I can buy that? Well.. if it was a tiny amount of those items, it woulda been fine, but instead it was a MASSIVE amount (because drop rates were too high!).
So - do I need to adjuste to lower drop rates? Sure I do. But am I mad they made a change that: Fixes Act 1, 2 play expiriences for new characters and new players AND makes a good stride to stabilize the economy? No way am I mad.. this game will only last if they get the economy fixed.
Clear eveidence that somting was needed: Great weapons that 3 weeks ago cost 10Mil now cost about 200Mil.. at this pace the game's gold economy will be completely broken with in 6 months.

Greetings Guys,
Here is (IMO) the best place to farm in Act 3 Inferno.
Select new quest - Inferno Difficulty - Kill Siegebreaker (If you don't have the quest - find someone who does and leech it)
You will spawn with the Waypoint to Korsik (sp?) Crossing. Go to it.
If you sapwn with a pack of regular Mobs around the Waypoint - do not fear - Kill what you can and then die - Tyreal will continue Battling while you are dead - so Let him finish off the normal mobs - he hits for 40+k.
After the sapwn is clear (it doesn't always have stuff around it) make your way north. You may run in to 1 Rare pack - it may be too hard to kill - but try using the stairs in the Area to kill them - I used Slow time / Blizzard - Hydra and Piercing Orb last night to kill stuff (more details on builds below.
If you can't kill that rare pack - pull them as far south as you can - so that you can revive at the way point and proceed north. Just shy of the boss encoutner Zone (Edge of the Abyss?) there is a roughly 50% chance of a dungeon spawning called "The Underbridge" - Jackpot! Go inside.
Inside is an easy to kite area (circlular room) and it contains a combination of 1 Resplendent Chest, 1 Treasure Goblin, and 1 Rare pack (Seems to always have a rare pack and at least 1 of the other two, and somtimes both)
Kill the pack by kiting if you can - some mele Rare packs that spawn in there can be killed by tyreal while you are dead.
Be carefull not to find the Goblin untill you are ready to engage.
Kill the Goblin if he is there, (I had no trouble killing him with Blizzard and Piercing Orb - 28K damage) - Check for the chest and collect rewards.
If you were able to kill the rare pack in the underbirdge, and kill the rare pack between the waypoint and the Boss zone - youre now ready for the Siegebreaker with 2 stacks of the buff.
Siege breaker is easily kited and killed with Hydra and/or Blizzard / Seeking Missle. You really need 12% run speed on boots to avoid his mele 100% of the time.
Kill Boss - collect loot - repeat.
So - the caveats to this are - sometimes you have to die ALOT during this run - sometimes you have to start over (rare pack is too hard) - some times the Underbridge doesn't spawn - sometimes the rare pack inside the underbridge is sitting there RIGHT when you zone in - which is almost impossible.
Here is the build I used for this run:
RMB: Blizzard - 60% SlowLMB: Shock Pulse - Piercing Orb / Seeking Missle Also works well (especialy for Siegebreaker)
1: Slow TIme: 20% damage (for max Blizzard - Hydra goodness - and to not get one shot by ranged mobs)
2: Hydra - Poison (To kill rares while ktiing and to kill Siege Breaker)
3: Dimond Skin: To not get 1 shot
4: Magic Weapon: Force Weapon - More damage!!
Edit: Here is the new build - http://us.battle.net...QlOS!YXd!abYaYZ
RMB: Hydra: Venom - Kills stuff while you teleport around
LMB: Chain Lightning - Free spam AoE for casting after you Teleport and things are Frozen in Blizzard
1: Teleport - Fracture - COmbined with FA - everytime you get hit you can teleport away and have some decoys. Usualy you have regened your life by the time you get hit again (with a decent amount of Lefe Regen)
2: Energy Armor: Force Armor - with enough health (I would say shoot for 27K - though I run with 34K) this is awesome again. FA Strikes Back!
3: Blizzard: Grasping Chill - Damage and 60% slow - awesome - gives you time to spam Chain Lighting
4: Magic Weapon: I've decided this is broken and gives WAY to large an increase. Take it.
Passives: Illusionist (Makes Teleport up after every hit) - Astral Presence (makes spaming Blizzard possible) - Glass Cannon (I suppose if you cant get up to 6500ish armor, and 27-30k health you could try this with out Glass Cannon - but I use it still - and its fine.
Stats for this: Int > Vit/Armor/Resists (Try to Keep your Max HP at about 4/3 of what the monsters hit you for - makes FA work) > Life Regen / Life on Hit > APS > MF
I have: 34K health - 250-350 all resists - 32K damage: I think it would work with: 27K Health - 150-200 Resists - 20K damage
This new build (new for this thread, the Illusionist build of course has been posted alot before now) works AWESOME for the underbridge - siege breaker area. I'll leave the top part alone, but here is the updated version of what I do on this run now:
Start Kill Siegebreaker Quest
Teleport to the Crossing - pick up Tryeal (he will follow you all over the zone after you waypoint to the crossing and before you kill siege)
Teleport back to town and then to the Bridge starting Area. Kill everything you can. Clear out a big space by the Bridge waypoint and then kite - teleport around killing stuff. You should be able to clear out the whole area where the Siege Weapons were easily.
There should be a random dungeon out there somewhere (ice caves) - about 7-10 times I can clear it (only if a nasty rare pack spawns right at the entrance can I not).
Once that area is clear, you will liekly have 2-3 stacks of Valor - and maybe found a Chest at the bottom of the ice caves.
Head north to the Bridge and make your way back to the Crossing way point - there should be at least 2 Packs of rares along the way - kite them - tleport around them and kill them.
There is a random "Store Room" along the left side of this bridge - random note - if you can see light coming from behind the closed door - it means there is a rare pack in there - if its dark behind the door untill you open it, its just the dye vendor.
You can likely kill the store room rare pack if it sapwns by using Tyreal to do so - but the room is too small to do it your self - though with some fancy teleporting (top of the stairs, bottom of the stairs) I have managed to kill a few.
You should be back to the Crossing way point - of course check for the underbridge before killing siegebreaker.
At this point you should have 5 stacks - you can - if you want - head back to town and hit the First Way points (where you lit the torches and where you raised the catapults) and kill all of those rare packs with Tryeal's help and a 5 stack - it felt VERY worthwhile to me.
When your done - kill Siegebreaker - I got 2-4 Rares of him each time with a 5 stack.
Edit2: The other great thing about ths build - stat priority is that I finaly feel like I'm gearing with purpose - I actually want more armor and more resists because I am taking hits - Ideally - once I have enough I could play with out FA. - in other words farming gear is actually fun gearing for this.
Hope this helps and see you all in game!

Hey Wizard Fans,
I'll pretty this up later, but I wanted to do my first attempt at a guide, now that I feel this build is working well enough to justify it.
I am currently Farming Act 3 - Start through Boss 1 and having really good success and getting some awesome loot! - As you may know, Act 3 is where you start finding the best, of the best (Archon) armor and weapons.
heres the build: http://us.battle.net...OlSX!YfX!bZYaZa
Many of you I'm sure know about the heart of this build, but I'll lay it out here just in case.
LMB Skill: Hydra: Venom Hydra
This skill is super powerfull and very cheap to cast. Its perfectly suited for your LMB as you nearly always have enough AP to cast it and you only need to cast it once if you plan on fighting in the same area. Its also your Primary DPS if you need to kite (often!)
RMB Skill: Disintegrate: Chaos Nexus
Your Primary Nuke - The Rune effect makes it more deadly when monsters get close to you, which is perfect for a glass cannon that doesn't want to take hits. With enough damage (About 20k to comfortably start act 1 Inferno) this melts normal mobs, and, combined with Diamond skin, gives you 6 seconds of Face Melting time on Rares and Champions.
1 Button Skill: Energy Armor: Force Armor
The heart of the build, and the reason we can farm inferno so quickly and with realitive ease and with out amazing gear. You only ever Take 35% Damage! What can kill you are: Standing in Fire, Poison or any other fast ticking damage, or getting hit by 3 monsters at one time. But, avoid that, and your golden. With this rune, you want to have as little health as possible. Right now I only have 8K health, and it would be less, but my weapon (679 dps, 170 int, 16% APS) also has 100 Vit on it, looking to replace it though. The reason you want low health is two fold - With small amounts of health, you only take 2.5-3.5K damage when you get hit, that amount gets taken from your Dimond Skin shield - so it makes your shield POWERFUL for inferno. Also, with enough Life Regen on gear, you will regen back your 35% so fast, you almost will not notice you got hit. More details in the gear section.
2 Button Skill: Blizzard: Grasping Chill
Costs ALOT of AP, but allows you to kill some champion packs you might otherwise not be able to by kiting. 60% slow and damage is very powerfull and can help set up perfect clumps of the minions to turn, pop diamond skin and Blast with Disintegrate! - Also, running and droping Blizzard/Hydra will net you some kills by just running to. When you reach the end of your kite area, cast Blizzard again, hit Diamond Skin and run back the other way. Of course, Fire Chain combined with Vortex is nearly immpossible
3 Button Skill: Magic Weapon: Force Weapon
You can almost not help yourself from taking this. I imagine with alot of gear (35-40k with out it damage) you could then take it away and add some more utility - but right now, with out Magic weapon I have 25-27K damage (at work dont see specifics) with Magic Weapon, that baloons to 32K damage. Yes please! It makes Disintegrate amazing and melting demons.
4 Button Skill: Diamond Skin: Crystal Shell
You have to have a skill that lets your stand and do damage - thats exactly when this does combined with a low health pool and Force Armor. This allows you to get out of tight spots and continue you kite (if necessary) or just an "OH CRAP" button if your about to get swarmed by ambushers.
Passive 1: Glass Cannon
You don't care about health here, or armor.. or anything like that. So this passive is a no brainer. Take it!
Passive 2: Galvanizing Ward
Your primary stat besides Intelect for this build (see gear section) is +Life Regen - This is a must!
Passive 3: Astral Presence
Counteracts the the debuff from Force Armor, and gives you more regen! You need regen badly, especialy since its not a stat! (Why Blizzard!!!)
Gear:
Rather than listing specific items, I'll list what I feel your primary stats should be and in order of importance:
Intelect > NO Vitality > + Life Regen > Dextarity (Dodge) > +Attack Speed (You usually don't have long to cast Disinegrate any way,may as well get the most of it!) Magic Find
After that - everything is gravy - Crit is good, Crit Damage is good - Stuff to avoid:
Vitality (Of course), +Armor, +Resists, +Health Globe Heals
What do you need to start?
To Begin Act 1, I would say you need a good 450-500 damage 1 hander and a solid off hand sphere (You can start sooner, but that is a good place to shoot for).
I'll pretty this up later, was just posting from work! (First day back from Diablocation!)
EDIT* THought of a quick tidbit - With such a low health pool you can go back to nightmare/hell to stock up on cheaper health potions (rather than the 610 gold ones) So this build saves you money also!
1
Play the game the way the Devs intended! Have you seen the over head flybys from the recent videos? There are some Dark Dark Dark Creepy places in this game (See 1:54 from the new "What is Diablo 3" video) - When there color comes in, its intended to pace more impact on when it is Dark.
Then, theres my opinion, that the screens on that website look much much worse than it does with out any effects.
And finaly, its not that it is "uncertain" - its that Bashiok straight up said it is bannable. So, don't do it!
Last tip: Use your monitor's contrast settings - you could play in black and white if you wanted to - no sense getting banned for somthing you can do your self with in-game settings and monitor settings.

Blizzard keeps saying thats its hard because of what you just typed. People have been saying since it was announced that it would be too easy, and blizzard caters to casuals. I belive them when they say, we will be getting our brains blasted out by inferno, specifically now, act 2-4
1
Official Blizzard Quote:
This is may be a good a time as any to REVEAL TEH SEKRITS! that Inferno monster levels aren't linear any longer. They get progressively more difficult. This was really a reaction to Inferno playtesting. Our original intent was to have a flat difficulty level where you could go wherever you want, farm for items, and it'd be no more or less difficult than any other area in Inferno. This caused a few inherent issues for us, though:
Specifically, people in D2 did Diablo runs, Mephisto runs, Pindleskin runs, Pit runs, Baal runs, etc. because the loot in Diablo is extremely random. Even though the theoretical best items might come from the later Acts, well-rolled items from earlier acts will still be better. Internally we find sometimes after an intense session of brutally hard Inferno it can be really fun to cruise through Hell Act III or IV and it’s not too uncommon surprise when an upgrade drops. We expect this to carry through to Inferno difficulty where somebody who can theoretically farm Act IV will likely still enjoy romping through Act I simply because the drop potential is still there. It’s all because of the highly random items having lots of overlap in their power distribution curves
I neer thought it made sense that it could be one difficulty the whole time. Incoming Act 4 farming!
