So I love this change to patch 5. It made playing the wizard and witch doctor so much more awesome for me! Also, blizzard was telling the truth about having a single handed weapon along with an off hand orb/voodoo doll is much better than carrying a big two handed weapon. I found that a crafted wand and a rare orb did by far the most DPS and the added attributes from the orb (ie plus damage, +1 to all attributes, +9% magic find, +8 from health orbs) really makes it more worth while than just for the DPS. Loving the change. I always felt put out in D2 when I'd find a sweet weapon and the only thing that mattered was if it was going to increase a certain skills points. This is good.

Some interesting news from Gamescom press conference about Diablo for platforms:

Hopefully they'll say a bit more about it soon.

I also see the complaint of it only being SP legitimate in the eyes of those who really see D3 as only an online multiplayer experience.... For you guys this system is pointless and you won't use it, so I can see the frustration. I know that a lot of balancing has gone on when it comes to graphics, playability, challenge level, and what not with multiplayer. I can understand Blizzard setting caps on the amount in the group due to not being able to see what the heck is going on on the screen. I hated that in D2 where between everyones mercs and all the heroes I couldn't see a single thing. It was just a big mess. So maybe during alpha/beta testing they might change their minds and allow the follower in MP if the balance works. Guess we'll see how well it works in beta. I know I'm a bit more biased towards being able to play SP due to my weird life schedule currently, but I'm sure a balance will be found. There are always patches :-)

I personally love storyline but in D2 I never wanted to stop in the middle of killing/looting to read a freakin long book/scroll. So I think it'll be neat to be able to get the lore, while still creating a treasure rich blood bath at the same time.

Not 100% of the people that will buy diablo 3 will play co-op. I'm sure there's a a good enough % for single players only out there. So this feature will not go into waste.

I agree with this. I love playing with a group of buddies online, but lately with how busy my life is (Med school, research, 2 kids, work) I know I'm not going to be able to meet up with buddies at scheduled times near as often as I'd like. So I will be getting random hours in here and there and I know I will appreciate the feel of the co-op with the followers system. I think this was brilliance by Blizzard.

People fail to remember that this game isn't being made specifically for them and that person only..... Blizzard is the master of creating games that millions of people can enjoy and they make systems that can cater to the various needs/desires/gameplay styles of many different gamer types. To those whiners out there, get over yourselves....

    Quote from Periculum

Yea, thats what i meant, switching between them at the caravan/in the city. That would be cool. But not like in D2, where u would have to lvl up and equip ur "new" merc every time u switch, but that you could lvl, skill and equip all of them and then just switch, without having to go over that again and again. That also goes along well with all of them having an own real story and a quest/questline and then following you ("Followers").

It'd be really awesome if they allowed for all three to be part of your caravan as you completed each of their quests. If that was the case though I'm assuming that only the follower that was with you would be currently gaining experience, so if you wanted to switch up, you'd have to level up that other follower. Would still love this possibility though!

So I was on here reading about the new info on Followers and it suddenly disappeared. Where'd it go? It was talking about the Templar, Enchantress, and Scoundrel....

Ignore this, it just popped back up.

So it was mentioned there was going to be some way of altering past choices on skills. They didn't mention what the cost would be to the player or to what extent changes could be made. Do you think this ability to adjust your skills will be applicable to the traits as well? Have they mentioned anything about this? I can already feel the tension of having to choose which traits to invest in cause they're all so cool, yet limited, and you don't want to make the wrong choice.

posted a message on When Will Beta Begin?
I think it's promising that they keep mentioning that they are pushing for a 2011 release. If they weren't feeling comfortable with where they are at now I don't think they'd keep saying that (no one is really holding them to any sort of a deadline, they can do whatever they want). I voted August just cause I see them hitting a couple hiccups with internal testing. Not only that but they like to slowly feed us new info, and I'm still seeing a lot of different things they still need to tell us about before Beta. Plus they're supposed to be announcing the expansion for SC2 which will take the limelight this next month.

This is just speculation but during the conference call some guy asked about "other devices with a processor and a screen" and developing for these. For some reason the guy responding really elaborated on this (with out saying a whole lot though) but kept on mentioning how this was such a great question and how this was important for their business model and new developments. I was just curious about what everyone else thinks about this. Do you think this is a hint that they're going to be trying to release D3 on consoles? I know people were joking saying D3 for Facebook but I think more realistically (with Activision/Blizzard business model) they'd want to promote/develop better console sales.
