Lightning Dog - In addition to dealing the high random lightning damage, the Dog also has smite (or, at least the charge portion). The dog has a chance to immediately smite to another enemy after each smite. The higher level the rune, the higher the chance and the more times it can smite in a row. Highest level runes give a small chance that the dog can split when smiting to two very close enemies.

Ice Dog - In addition to ice and slow damage, the dog has ice armor that reduces damage from piercing and cutting weapons, and takes more damage from blunt objects. The higher the level the rune, the of the dog is made of ice, causing the above changes to get larger (even less damage from cutting, even more from blunt) as the ice armor slowly becomes just a solid ice dog. Highest level runes add a slowing effect when hit, not just when hitting.

Fire Dog - In addition to fire damage, gains splash damage. Also, when landing the killing blow, a tiny dog spawns from the corpse. Higher level runes increase splash damage and range, as well as making the dog bigger. Highest level runes also add a trail of fire effect.

Ghost Dog - Gains arcane damage. Gains resistance to physical and elemental damage (so it only takes full damage from magic/arcane damage types). The higher the rune level, the less damage it takes. Highest level runes become immune to damage types (starting with physical, at the highest immune to everything but magic/arcane).

If you can't tell, I prefer runes that do more than just add damage, I like them to do something different.

Uh...it's a zombie. Maybe you just meant to say zombie instead of dog or are you talking about the Zombie Dog skill which is completely different?

Don't mean any harm just want to clarify. :)

EDIT: cool ideas tho, didn't wanna shoot them down!

How do you guys think this skill would work in PvP? it seems kinda easy to avoid! Say im the DH and I throw this down, im on the move all the time so sitting behind this will not happen, the other player sees this and just movies around it. In turn he takes no damage and im just wasting (place holder Mana). It just does not seem effective.

Kind of like Jackzor said. If they are "traps" for enemies, and other players are the enemies then I am guessing they won't be visible to you at all until you "spring" them. I think they just don't animate this visually in PvE because it would be useless to do so cus the enemy is the computer, not an actual player.

He crouches then takes off straight up in a Neo(from the matrix) style blast off move, disappears off the top of the screen then in a flash blasts back down onto the the target area creating a crater and massive AoE damage.

(sounds kind of unrealistic but would still be badass to do) :)

Well ik that there is a trait for the WD called Assassin that gives him +%dam when wielding daggers, so maybe the wiki is just not up to date?

posted a message on Class you wish was in D3
lol I like how these two guys are just bickering back and forth while everyone else just ignores them.

    ~ON TOPIC~

I wish that there was some sort of demon class or half demon class. Something like when the demon hunter was in early dev. I understand why blizz chose not to and wanted to stick to a strict human only hero standard, but I think it would be cool to play as a rebel demon that betrayed his allies or something like that. :)

EDIT: Maybe if this class was thrown with a expansion then maybe a angel or part-angel class could be thrown in as well to balance it. Like tyreal's demi-angel son or something.

posted a message on Regarding the Followers quests in Nightmare and Hell
I asked this question in the other thread and didn't really get an answer, and now I'm not expecting very many people to sift through 7 pages of posts to answer it so I will just re-ask it here.

In the other thread I asked that since this time around the followers will tie into the story-line more and will be acquired through quests rather than gold, does this mean that the followers quests will not appear in NM and Hell? or will they just be changed? And how will this effect the story? Will it feel like there is a gap, or will the story change as well?

One answer to this is to follow the path of d2 and keep the quests but instead of re-unlocking the mercs you unlock something else, or get nothing (Blood Raven quest).

But if followers in d3 are more story driven and are the main point of these quests, then this won't work. Unless you don't mind running into Kormac's twin in Nightmare then you are going to have to drastically change the quest, or remove it completely. But to be able to remove the follower's quests with out harming the story, the quest will have to be made fairly shallow, like an optional side-quest sort of feel to it.

idk guys, any speculation or ideas would be helpful.

And please keep discussion on topic. I look at the other thread and i just see a bunch of griping back an forth on whether or not the follower system is good or bad, or a waste of time, or whatever. Keep it clean. Thanks

I would assume you only do those quests when you're playing in Normal, but they could just have the quests and the followers are just at the end. They have said that the follower quests fit into the main story.

I'm trying to understand what you meant by this, and here's what I've got: It will be like in d2 where you redo the blood raven quest in NM but instead of unlocking the mercs again you unlock something else, or get nothing.

if that is what you meant, then how is it possible to still have a quest present in the 2nd and 3rd playthrough, when the followers are the main point of said quest? It would drastically change the quest to remove the follower part of it, unless you don't mind running into Kormac's twin in NM.

I wanna start by saying that I agree with blizz and support what they are doing. My question is as follows:

(I am asking this assuming that when we start in NM and Hell we will have our leveled followers with us, like we did with our mercs in d2.)

Since the followers are more tied into the story plot and are gained through quests rather than gold, does this mean that the follower quests will not appear in the second and third playthrough? and if they don't will it feel like there is a chunk missing from the story, or will the story change? jw

I have honestly never seen a point in playing single player (unless you have no internet connection), because I could always just make a private game and play alone, and then use the character i worked so hard with on my own to play with a group.

Maybe im just stupid but a while back I thought I heard someone say that you could use ur solo chars online. Or is it going to be like d2? idk maybe im just not paying enough attention.
