Honestly, I've heard WAY too much bitching about this. I haven't noticed this been an issue at ALL, and I've played a ton of the beta.

posted a message on How long do you think it will take you to finish Inferno ?
Really, really hard to try and guess something like that with our limited information. On one hand, we have them saying it's hard as hell. On the other hand, it took nowhere near that amount of time to finish Hell in Diablo II, and the things that made something like Hell Unleashed (D2 mod) won't exist, nor will the annoying immunes of Diablo II hell. I'm sure they'll throw some stuff, a lot of stuff actually, at us that we won't be expecting but... If there's not immunes, etc. I don't it taking THAT long. This isn't exactly WoW, where you stand toe to toe with the boss, and hope that some combination of your healers heals and your tanks' mitigation outpacing the bosses' health while your dps beats the enrage timer and doesn't get killed by mechanics. Diablo has always been ALL Mechanics, and people tend to figure that stuff out, and figure out how to beat it. And with millions of players playing it, it will happen fairly fast. I look forward to Inferno being a constant challenge over the years, but I think we'll unravel its basic mysteries before too much time has passed.

posted a message on Fetish "army"
No, I wasn't assuming they hit just once, I was pointing out that, regardless of how many times they hit in that 20 seconds they exist, if they're all hitting at the same time they're only doing your weapon damage per hit. And that's assuming enemies don't block, avoid, or negate any of that damage. I wouldn't want a skill that just does 100% damage a few times... on a 120 second cool down.

I am, however, going to go out on a very short limb and say that it looks like these will be way less useful than call of the Ancients, which do significantly more damage, and seem to have skills to go alongside that, and the CD's are identical. I was really expecting at least 10 fetishes, unruned, so this is pretty disappointing.

Uggh I knew it, the new skill video shows that Fetish "Army" is in fact a whopping 5 fetishes. I knew they were gonna do this. More like fetish squad... Moreover, they only do 20% of weapon damage? (5 fetishes x 20%) So this skill effectively does... weapon damage? I'm not seeing the point here....

posted a message on [Recruitment] VW Guild
Posted this on my blog and got some good response, going to move it here as well.

Volcano Werewolf (VW) is looking for fellow Diablo 3 players to fill our ranks.

Volcano Werewolf? Yeah, two things you don't @%^$ with.

We are serious minded players with tons of experience in the Diablo universe and RPG gaming in general. Looking for fellow players to level, farm gear and (eventually) PVP with.

We will be organizing groups with good comps for fast levelling based on primary class selection and availability of time. Post here or PM me if interested.

    See you on May 15th!

posted a message on [PvP] Blizzard neglecting a major part of what made Diablo, Diablo.
    1. Everyone is a "PVEr", so in my mind, your point is already moot.

    2. NONE of the Diablo games, including this one, were EVER designed around, or with PVP in mind. It was, and is, an after thought. If you like it, cool, but let's get our facts straight shall we?

    3. I might have been with you if you simply said "kinda sucks that there won't be any pvp at launch". I can sympathize with that a bit, but don't insult the way other people like to play the game, that is, the actual game... and expect any favors in return.

posted a message on Can't find a video, please help
During a discussion about game companies holding people's hands too much these days (on this site) someone posted a video about how Megaman X was a perfect example of explanation in action without words (paraphrasing). I was rather long and good, but I forgot to bookmark it and wanted to take another look at it. If you were the one who posted that, or know what I'm talking about, I'd sure appreciate a link, thanks.

posted a message on WOW vs Diablo3 Did WOW Ruin our Diablo 3 experience?
    Quote from Valkray

i personally feel there is an argument to be made here. Some of the things about the current build of D3 have copy and paste feels from WC3 that just dont sit right with me. We have no real form of talenting trees but insted we have these silly ability hand outs per level. We have automatic stat level placement. 2 strength, 1 defense, 1 precision, per level... enjoy, thats bull shit. For me the sucess of diablo 1 and diablo 2 plus its expansion was the length of non stop collecting. There was always another day to go out and farm or trade and it took years before it got old. Now there isnt runes to collect, gold still has no value, and there isnt even charms either? what the hell are we doing then? getting drops and items is really obvious but that will just evaporate in no time as we progress through out the game. So whats at the end for us? I feel like were getting this water downed version of something that's going to be border line good-and something else, not sure what that something else is yet but the feel will be known (Soon).

And then this argument... again... Now we've got both in the same thread.

    1. Diablo III will be just as much about "collection" as Diablo II, undoubtedly more so. Again, Uniques aka legendaries contain randomized mods, so even when you come across a shiny item of favorable color, you won't have the slightly clue what variety it's gonna be. How does that not exponentially increase item-finding depth?
    2. Stat placement is not a form of depth or game quality, especially in Diablo II. Everyone followed the same cookie-cutter builds because the alternative was making a failure of a character. And every build was virtually the same, regardless of class or intent: put enough into str/dex to wear desired gear, then pump dex, period. Can we let this go please? It's a tired argument, nostalgia, or w/e. But one thing it's not, is valid.
    3. I really don't think that they're going to release as shallow of a product as you're insinuating. They have put over half a decade of development into this game, and I'm fairly certain that we're going to have some good shit to experience, just based on my beta time. And speaking of which, one thing I'm 100% sure of is that it's too early for anyone to know this kind of thing, given the barest nth of content that we've been exposed to thus far. I'm also sure that fatalistic statements like these are ultimately unconstructive and pointless.

posted a message on WOW vs Diablo3 Did WOW Ruin our Diablo 3 experience?
This old topic again? Except in reverse?

    1. Totally different genres. Yeah, they're both based around basic RPG rules, but you might as well beg the question "did WoW ruin Titan Quest?".
    2. From Diablo II to now, Blizzard is a totally different company. I'm not sure if anyone involved with the Diablo II project is still working at Blizzard.
    3. .00001% drops? You're saying that farming Rivendare's mount is what kept WoW interesting? I think you're a very poor judge of what gives WoW its quality if you're suggesting that...
    4. Totally different levels of commitment. Diablo III can be played from Act I normal through Act IV Inferno solo. I.e., you can do everything there is to do solo. The only thing you can do solo in WoW is level a toon. Anything at level 85 is a group thing, with the exception of crafting and dailies to farm rep and gold. Speaking of which, there will be none of that kind of crap in Diablo III.
    5. While itemization is somewhat similiar between WoW and Diablo III as far as ideal stats, everything else is completely different.
-The way in which items are obtained is completely different. In WoW gear pretty much goes: World drop/Quest Reward blues/greens->Dungeon Loot->Heroic Dungeon Loot->Raid Loot-> Hard Mode raid loot. In Diablo III bosses have the same (if not worse) chance to drop the best possible gear for their area and level, and again, you won't have to farm anything in a group, if you choose not to.
-WoW is built around min-maxing for each class based around a known, fixed group of items. In a major departure from both that system and Diablo II's system, the best items in Diablo III will contain a hint of randomness. I.e. rather than people saying a Shako AKA Harlequin Crest is worthless based on its defense (which is the stupidest thing I've ever heard...), you'll be bargaining based on a few random, relevant stats on those godly Uniques... er legendaries...

So no, WoW ruined nothing. WoW was heavily influenced by Diablo II, and Diablo III, in turn, will be influenced by it. I rather doubt, however, that they would take bad elements from it to inject into Diablo III's gameplay. At least not intentionally.

posted a message on Game wont be changed at all before release (proof)
I'm not overjoyed with the skill runes, but could honestly give a damn about chat channels. I'd much rather play the game than sit around gabbing about it. We have in game chat and forums like this and the official Diablo III for that nonsense.

I'm actually quite sure (99%) that we will be hearing a release date announcement from them within the next week. The simply have never talked like this before:

-"will be hearing a release date in the near future. Notice I didn't say "soon".

-"no more changes to the game, we're ready to release it."

Oh yeah... it's go time. Get your gamer hats on.
