Umm, no. This is from a recent interview:Quote from DUNCAN99
Dude relax. By the way. They were making diablo 3 an action rpg still playing like a hack n slash but with mmo features. i'm quite sure it wouldn't be anything like WoW. More Diablo 2 LoD with more players. Actually sounds pretty darn awesome to me.
"You know, when I was working at Blizzard a million years ago we were working on Diablo 3 and it was an MMO. We were going to do the Diablo version of World of Warcraft. Blizzard obviously changed that pretty quickly, so we left to start Flagship Studios and we brought in a lot of the guys, so they rebooted with their own team."
Let me rephrase the critical part "We were going to do the Diablo version of World of Warcraft." Blizzard North was effectively turning Diablo into World of Diablo, they were making it an MMO. I always laugh when people start praising the North team as this infallible pillar of gaming excellence. In effect, they were destroying Diablo behind the scenes, and most people didn't even know about it. The D3 we have today is far closer to the Diablo franchise than the World of Diablo they were making, and Shaefer even applauded the current effort Blizzard has put into the game. I think that says a lot. -

blizzard needs to stop penalizing co-op play and the ridiculous difficulty of inferno makes people not want to play. the disparity between hell and inferno is ridiculous. even from inferno act 1 and act 2. blizz said the game was about co-op and fun. they lied. it's about grinding by yourself. they said it's about variety and playing how you want to play. they lied. they keep adding enrage timers to everything. it's about farming elites and dps. they said it's about story and they wanted you to play through the game and not just be forced to farm. then why nerf champions and quests rewards? they nerfed all the variety, fun, and open worldness out of the game. all thats left is farming elites by yourself so you can have gear with bigger numbers to tackle the ridiculous damage in inferno act 2+.

Deathkiss posted a message on Why 1.0.3 failedNothing wrong with something being difficult, but you have to achieve it through good mechanics, not cheapness. That's all the original inferno was. They took the same mechanics used for the other difficulty levels, then raised all the stats tremendously. It resulted in needing to death flop to act 3, then death flop through act 3 until you found enough gear to trade, so you could actually play properly. The gear levels needed to play Acts 1-3 without using cheap tactics could only be found in Act 3+. Plus the gear needed to make melee viable was higher than the gear needed for ranged kiting classes that it felt unbalanced.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
It wasn't simply too hard. It felt poorly designed, cheap and unbalanced. 1.0.3 was a step in the right direction. As others have said, this is a game. Hack and slash RPGs are not meant to be the life consuming time sinks that MMOs are. They are meant to be fast paced, fun and casual. That's just the truth of the genre. Diablo 2 definitely wasn't that hard in the end game either.
You want this game to be something its not going to be, and that most people with lives don't want. It's not happening. Deal.
Also, there's always hardcore if you think you are too good for softcore play. Have fun. -

Tyraen posted a message on The diablo communityPosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionQuote from sacridoc
The reason that people "hate" on D3 so much is because D2 was such a good game lol... You can say what you want about the "community" but D3 has nothing on D2. The expectations for this game were massive, and it didn't live up to those expectations for most people.
Also, even though WoW has a lot of cheese in it that makes me dislike it, it's crazy to say it was a bad game.
However, I think a lot of people would agree with the idea that it went downhill after WotLK. Some might say everything after vanilla was bad, but really I feel like Wrath is where the game started to get bad. Then again, they really stopped adding anything major to the game at that point, and the storylines that people cared about were done.
Your argument is a logical fallacy. People having unrealistic expectations of something which then fails to meet then doesn't make it bad or a failure. It just means people are unrealistic and believe too much crap based on rumor and conjecture and anticipation of something they really want.
People have been getting screwed on unrealistic expectations all year : ME3, SW:TOR, D3...and soon GW2, TSW, and any other big name title. Because instead of basing an opinion on experience, they base it on hype and excitement, and have set themselves up for disappointment before even giving the games a chance. -

TheDFO posted a message on Cains Death wasn't epic enough.Posted in: Lore & StorylineQuote from Tzalix
Quote from TheDFO
To start with, I don't really agree with the idea that a characters death should be "epic." I think he should have died in between Act 1 and 2 because he tripped and broke a hip, and they had to put him down (now THAT would be an epic cutscene).
What I really don't like though, is that Blizzard keeps doing these stupid in engine cinematics. They...need...to...stop. NOW. I can't think of a single good in game cinematic, in any of their games, even more so compared to their balls to the walls awesome rendered ones. It's like they completely forgot that so much of conversation is in body language, and then only gave all the models two or three actions that they just repeat. Translation - you should have walked in as Cain is dying (no talking, just walk in, Leah goes "noooooo" kaboom, "cain fixes the sword" and then cut to the summary cutscene that is voiced by your character. That would also do away with the second problem - they tell you what happens (tell, not showed, 3rd problem) twice. Once in the cutscene, and again in the voice over cutscene.
I think the reason they do a few cinematics in-game is because they don't have time to make a ton of those beautiful animated cinematics. I remember this being the case of the expansion pack for WarCraft III. A fight between Illidan and Arthas was made using the in-game engine, and they later said they planned to have that being a fully animated cinematic, but had to cut it due to time constraints.
Yeah, I kinda understand the reason WHY they did it, but I still think they shouldn't have, because the in game engine is not capable of decent cinematics. The fight between Illidan and Arthas wasn't good. It wasn't even exciting. Further, the in game cinematics from War3 and SC2 are slightly different. They were either from the RTS camera angle, in which case there weren't any "acting" beyond the talking, so it was at least passable, or they were the ones in SC2 that were, even if built in the in game engine, specifically built for the cutscene - along with body language and motion. The ones in D3 are close enough that it is weird if they don't do anything, and close enough to show off bad/reused body language, mostly using stock motions. This is one thing that bothers me about CGI in a lot of games and movies - just because you CAN doesn't mean you should. If the CGI is so bad it distracts, then you should probably find another way to do it. -

When the going gets tough, the noobs & casuals get going.
Blizzard is paying for their own spoiled WoWscrubs.
It's people like this who never do anything great, because they give up.
Take this as an example everyone. Laugh at this person when the BIG BAD HORRIBLE BUGS are fixed, expansion(s) are out, & this game is thriving.
65 hours.. Jesus fucking Christ. 65 hours of gaming for $60 & you asked for a refund.
Fuck off. I don't care if I get banned for saying that.
That's unacceptable for any product. That's like eating a whole bag of chips & returning it because the crumbs on.the bottom weren't big enough.
God damn crybaby. Get the fuck off the forums & leave the people with common sense & patience alone while we enjoy the game. -

Covers everything from where to get the recipe, the mats required, & how to unlock nightmare/hell/inferno modes. I cut out as much of the fluff as possible while still trying to keep it extremely informative and helpful. We should be able to get you into the Whimsyshire within an hour or two after you watch this.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

1) Bring back Attribute Elixirs in some manner, whether it be in a patch or expansion.
I agree, either as very rare drop or reward for a very rare random encounter.
2) In either a patch or expansion, bring back ALL unique items from Diablo 1 & 2.
I don't really see a reason to live in the past, they brought some back, some will probably come in the next expansion, but bring back all of them... i don't see a reason for that.
3) Bring back character fatalities during boss battles.
I couldnt care less to be honest, they were removed for a reason.
4) Add at least a 5th character slot to game rooms and scale difficulty appropriately as such.
4 or 5, same thing to me.
5) Enable only a maximum of 5 second cooldown when switching abilities on your skill bar throughout all difficulties.
Why? its to encourage people to stick with their builds when facing rare mobs, most people will go for it with their current build because of the long CD, switching should be only done before boss fights.
6) Crack down hard on Bots, Hackers, and spammers*.
This is a no brainer.
7) Make character names feel more important, make them more prevalent.
I'm fine with the current system.
8) Further develop the Diablo 3 Battle.net 2.0 Chat System.
Agree.
9) Incorporate a dueling system and custom vs match system. (1v4, 4v4, 2v4 etc. or beyond if you increase game capacity beyond 4 players)
I agree, as long as they keep it casual and fun.
10) Allow followers to be used by everybody even in a full game and increase difficulty appropriately.
I see absolutely no reason for that.
11) Remove the casting time from identifying objects. (Minor concern)
I like the casting, it makes you wait with anticipation for the reveal.
12) Allow there to be a weapon swap in Diablo 3 Similar to Diablo 2 (Minor concern)
I very much disagree, people would just switch to MF weapons just before a boss/rare died, it was just being abused.
13) Remove the Closed beta "Feat of Strength" or Add an Open Beta Participation "Feat of Strength" (Minor concern)
It puzzles me that people even care about this when there are so many sigils in the game. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

The first-person view of it has worked throughout out all of the other Elder Scrolls games and it works in this one.
