Maybe sets should stop increasing damage by thousands of percent in the first place.

Bagstone posted a message on Why people are so obsessed with COSMETICS?Posted in: Diablo III General DiscussionYeah, I think it's weird. Judging people by their look... really? I usually don't transmog unless someone asks me to, and if they do, I mock them by creating the ugliest transmog possible. I remember that overneathe or zero (one of them, don't recall who) didn't want to play with me in the RoS beta because I refused to transmog my character. Their loss!
I like the Tyrael wings though, and I found a pet chest which is kinda cool, so I'm using that. But I wouldn't pay a dime for that, and I couldn't care less if I lost either of that... if I could trade that against a stack of Death's Breath it'd be gone instantly -

Jamoose posted a message on Diablo not deadPosted in: Diablo III General DiscussionI might agree with OP that D3 is not dead but i completely disagree with the notion that the console version should have never been developed. The console version is probably the most successful thing that came out of D3 as a whole. I would also recommend anyone to try it out given the chance. Forget that pc vs console bullshit, the game actually feels a lot better with a controller (couch, big screen tv, etc...). Sure it does have downsides like limited "real" competition because of the ability to edit game files but seriously the competition in D3 on pc is bullshit anyway.

Dragon270 posted a message on Next Expansion SpeculationPosted in: Lore & StorylineHi I've watched this site since Diablo 3 rumors years before release! I thought now would be a good time to share a couple of my thoughts on where the game could go from here.
For a TLDR I have underlined the important stuff.
If you take a look at the Book of Cain, it has a lot of heavy foreshadowing for Diablo 3. It told us things about Kulle, the Lesser Evils, and some more that we did not (or most did not) know before the game was released and a lot of these things had serious connections to the game's plot (of course because it was promotional). Also the book of Tyrael was released and provides more information, although it is mostly a more in-depth recap of Sanctuary's history.
To me, one of the more interesting things about the Book of Cain was that it recanonized the previously non-canon, and my favorite Diablo book: The Legacy of Blood. Cain reveals in his writings some important meta info about the universe. The events in Legacy of Blood actually did happen. As we play the Rifts there are two rifts: one named after Horazon the Summoner, and another named after his brother Bartuc the Warlord of Blood.
The plot is heavily built around the Necromancer's attempts to protect the cursed armor of Bartuc. Bartuc was apparently so powerful he was able to essentially copy himself into his armor giving it a mind of its own and a large portion of his pwer. The priests of Rathma were tasked with keeping it locked away. Lately in Diablo 3 we have been seeing more and more necromancers. Is this just fanservice or a hint at a more necromancer-focused plot to come? Is it possible that Bartuc possessed Nephalem-Like powers similar to Kulle, but far greater? Bartuc and Horazon were the two most powerful humans of their time.
Seeking the power of the armor, Belial sends Xazax to trick a sorceress into helping him search for it. TLDR: Xazax is slain by The Wanderer but like the other demons of the universe he could likely reform and I was actually surprised we did not see him among Belial's forces. Xazax is also referred to in Tyrael's own journal by name. Compared to other names in the book- such as Zayl, or even Warriv- Xazax is arguably a very minor character in the Diablo Universe. Also mentioned in the book is Norrec, the protagonist so maybe they figured they would just throw in Xazax as the antagonist of that book.
I think that despite the ending of the book, it is entirely possible that Bartuc could be brought out of obscurity similar to how Malthael was. Its a stretch, but I also never would have expected Tyrael to do the same damn thing that failed in the first 2 games by playing hot potato with soulstones. But apparently the plot writers could take it anywhere.
What if in an attempt to bolster himself against the Nephalem or the demons, Imperius became as wrathful as to seek out the armor? The armor would give him the power to force the demons to begin slaughtering eachother (even more than they already do) and would provide a lot of firepower against Sanctuary, which was ravaged horribly by the first Warlord of Blood.
At the very least, Bartuc could be described as Wrath incarnate. His violence was unmatched and his armor was routinely painted with the blood of his victims. He forced one of the very rare occasions where the Vizjeri clans actually worked together, similar to the formation of the Horadrim. Dissimilar is that it took an army of mages to take down Bartuc, the Horadrim were just an order of a few. I like to think that Bartuc has high chances of having something to do with Wrath in the prophecy.
As for a new class, Diablo 3 currently has just 1 dedicated Archer character, which is the Demon Hunter. It has 2 mages, and 3 melee characters. I hope we get to see another archer, but I really wanted the Necromancer to make a comeback. What if we combine the two? Imagine an archer necromancer, the Ranger of Rathma or something. With the current increase in necromancer lore elements it seems likely to have some sort of necromancer offshoot like how the Crusader is the offshoot of the paladin. They could have their own kind of two-handed bows since DH has special one-handed bows. Maybe they could have their own form of offhand that they can use with bows, like a Voodoo or Quiver?
Tragoul's Teeth fired from bows. Bone spears fire from bows.
Skeleton pets raised from corpses.
Golems.
This is stuff that I've mulled over about Diablo's lore for a year or two now.
Edit: Warlord of Wrath would be a cool title, but the acronym would stink.

Aerisot posted a message on Next Expansion SpeculationPosted in: Lore & StorylineQuote from Talyn_Rahl jumpFor sure they'll announce the new Xpac at Blizzcon this year.
I mean what else could they announce
SC: LoTV is going into Beta soon, was announced a while back so there's nothing there.
WoW: WoD has only just come out, WAY too soon to announce another Expac.
OW: Hasn't even come out yet, so I doubt they'll be announcing anything for it
Hearthstone: New expansion already announced and under construction
HoTS: MOBA, doesn't have expacs
What does that leave?
Diablo! RoS is just over a year old now, announce the new Expac at Blizzcon and have it out just before RoS hits 2yrs old. It'll add one LONG act, one new multi stat class (Druid/shifter) and Devil's Hand that was originally planned to be in RoS.
Yes and no.
WoW's next expansion probably will be announced, just no info.
OW: Release date
LoTV: Release Date
Hearthstones: Maybe Next Expansion, since they seem to want to pump out as many as possible.
Warcraft Movie Details
Hopefully another movie franchise (doubt it though)
but yes, D3's expansion will probably be announced, I'm hoping it has to do with Inarius.
I would love to see Imperius take on a crusade to kill all the Nephelem, In order to stop him we need to find Inarius, whom Mephesto has held captive, so that lets us fight him again.
NEw class with probably be Amazon, and maybe Assassin or Necro, but most likely necro since they already shows a special place in the original trailer that wasn't in game.
Early concept art already showed Skovos Island, as well as Corrupted Druids, neither or which have been in the game yet, with the prime/lesser evils back in the abyss, leaves it open to fight them again.
Also with this quote: "There's a lot of people on our team who aren't happy with our class choices,” he admitted. "But after we've established 'Diablo III' as its own game with its own type of gameplay and experiences, I wouldn't be opposed to looking at old classes. We are trying to design [the Witch Doctor] class so that if we did bring back the Necromancer, there's room for him. We're looking out ahead of time at what our expansions are going to be, so we've got to keep room open for some of those other classes down the road."
Safe to say there will be more expansions.

Did you make this thread to have a discussion about this topic or did you just create it to tell us about your view and disregard anything anyone else has to say because it's not what you want to hear?
What you're basically saying is "They're a bunch of hackers and exploiters and they should be banned". In your last post you put "You're just making convoluted excuses for people who are cheating. And yes, they are cheating and exploiting no matter how people try to dress it up as some sort of legitimate gameplay." Which is basically saying you don't care what anyone else has to say because you've already made up your mind.
You have to be open-minded about this kind of thing mate, if you come onto a public forum expecting people to share the same view and opinions as you then you're going to have a bad time. There's plenty of valid and reasonable posts in this thread that point out some very discussion-worthy points. Don't be rude and dismiss them.

I don't see a joke, all I see is justice being served. The battle.net forums could do with a little less people like you.

I don't mean to throw on my rose tinted glasses, but what was so wrong with the gambling in D2? I'm not saying it should be identical to that, but why should we be able to purchase our legendaries at all? Why not just make the blood shards be used for gambling for rare items? Why not just keep the legendaries obtainable only through monster killing?

Now, I say all of this with no ill will towards anyone. I don’t mean to cause any unrest, or upset people, but I feel what I have to say has to be said for the future of Reaper of Souls. I speak for nobody but myself, and I am being absolutely 100% truthful when I say that I am disappointed with Reaper of Souls since the Friends and Family push ended. I spoke so highly of the development of Diablo III and how many amazing improvements were coming down the pipeline, but I fear I might have spoken too soon. There are some really great and amazing features that have come out in the last push. One of them being able see what type of elemental damage each skill does instead of having to guess. That is a very welcomed addition. Even then, there are a lot of great things this expansion adds which are Rifts and Bounties. Rifts have so much amazing potential that I feel is absolutely wasted. The core design behind them is great. I love being able to play randomized dungeons with randomized enemies. But even after a while, that can get boring and stale. Not quite as stale as it would be if you were doing something like CotA runs, but still it gets pretty monotonous after a while. Then there’s literally no incentive to finish the dungeons which makes them feel unpolished and bland. On top of that, they’re no more rewarding than a bounty run anyway which makes them even more underwhelming. All of that said though, I still welcome rifts anyway. I was so excited when I played the Friends and Family push. Sure, there were quite a few bugs that still needed ironed out, but overall the progression felt good. It felt natural… Now, the droprates on Legendaries might have been a little too high, but it didn’t need adjusted much. Maybe 1/2 or 1/3 of what they were during the F&F. Now when I play I don’t have that feeling of the next greatest drop being around the corner… I have this feeling that I am never going to be able to find anything worthwhile. Also, given the fact that Legendaries almost never drop, any that does isn’t worth using because I was able to find a better rare in the meantime thanks to Enchanting. Now every time I am even lucky enough to find one, I have to think to myself “Is it really worth making a 10% or even higher concession in DPS just so shrines last 5 times longer?” More often than not, that answer is no. So now when I do find a Legendary, it has to be more powerful than the rare I had obtained… These droprates are awful. So awful in fact that the BoA model is no longer justifiable which is a complete shame given how hard I fought for BoA. I was among the first, if not the very first who publicly advocated on a consistent basis that the top end of gear needed to be BoA. I know this model can and will work, but not like this. Now I see even in the latest push the droprates were still not raised… The justification for this being that gambling can now produce a Legendary. So you’re forcing 2 things upon the playerbase now. 1) In order to enjoy anything remotely close to a good droprate you have to buy RoS.
2) Bounties are THE MOST important thing you can do in game… again… Since shards don’t increase past expert, what motivation would there be to even play past expert in the first place? You have such an amazing base for a game, but it is a continual disappointment given how little consideration there is for psychologically motivating a player to continue playing your game. Someone almost 2 years ago gave this analogy (I believe it was Wyatt) and I feel it is very appropriate. Keep in mind I’m paraphrasing from memory as I cannot remember where I read it. If you feed the Monkey too much juice, it will become fat and lethargic.
However, if you feed the Monkey too little juice, it will starve to death. The thing you want to do in this case is to feed the Monkey (IE players) enough to not make them fat, but also keep them from feeling starved. You have very consistently been given feedback that the droprates are not high enough to justify playing the game. Perhaps this is what you’re testing for? How much you can starve the players of drops until they just throw in the towel and quit your game? With the game as it is now and your justification for low droprates being that you can gamble for them, I would not expect this game to last more than just a few months. As I said, with droprates as low as they are now, there is absolutely no justification for BoA. In addition, elites only drop between 1 – 3 pieces of gear whereas before they used to drop between 3 – 5… If you kept the same roll chance for a Legendary, you have nearly HALVED the droprate on Legendaries… You guys need to look at the whole picture with your changes. If you keep changing 1091823098 variables at once without seeing how each one interacts with each other, you’re not gathering any meaningful data. With all of these changes happening at once, it’s like all of the time spent researching droprates was wasted. In addition to all of that, when you changed the damage output of some spells, you justified it by reducing the chance to find Health Potions and Health Globes… So now it feels even WORSE because I have less healing coming in and I will at some point be forced to buy potions because they don’t drop enough to sustain my inventory. This is yet another situation where the pendulum has swung in the complete opposite direction. I advocated for BoA for so long because I wanted a game that was rewarding, but wasn’t influenced by a global market. Right now it seems the game is catering towards those who dedicate their whole life to this game and given that’s what, about 0.1% of your playerbase do you really expect the game to succeed like that? Players who play this game 10+ hours a day for a year will NEVER be satisfied with whatever model you put forth. You should make your game more enjoyable for the other 99.9% of the playerbase. You know, the ones who will actually refer their friends and say “Hey, come play this great game with me!” As it stands right now, even though I preordered my physical CE the very first day that gamestop was taking preorders I am contemplating cancelling and applying that money elsewhere. You have a chance to redeem this title, and I feel like you’re squandering it… Now as I said, I say none of this with ill will towards anyone. I say this because if all of this is left unsaid the game might be doomed to the same failures it made with Vanilla. Please, do not repeat the mistakes of the past. Stop trying to artificially extend the life of the game by giving us this masochistic grind for the sake of having a grind. Instead, give us reasons to play the game multiple times like you would in a ladder. RoS is probably your last chance before the rest of your playerbase jumps ship. Now that you’ve upset all types of players with RoS (Those who traded and those who enjoy finding stuff on their own) if you don’t get it right with RoS it may not be recoverable. I’ll try and force myself to test RoS for a little bit longer, but any hope I have of the game getting better is dwindling. I hope what I have said doesn’t strike a nerve, because this is more of a plea. Please save RoS.
