Don't forget the hellfire amulet which also doesn't have a level requirement. It doesn't have an XP bonus but gives you a free passive and high stats so you can do higher difficulties for more XP to level solo.

On the topic of Hellfire Amulets, as the OP is playing HC, getting a hellfire with a second life passive will be the biggest benefit. I'd probably play it safe and not push the difficulty up too much in HC still.

Waste of time. You might be able to wear the set at lvl1 but will you be able to select the skills needed for your build/complimentary with the set?

It also takes 15min or so to get a powerlevel to 70. If solo, just make sure you have a leveling weapon with gem of ease, Leoric's Signet, Hellfire Ring, and leoric's crown with max level ruby.

To support Kallizk's comment, assuming that DiabloWiki is correct:

Thorns damage is increased by your primary attribute, 1% per point, as any other damage.

We'll see if it at least hits T13. I'd like that at the very least so I get a good run out of the starter set before trying something else.

B: Not sure what other gems there are to add... we've got a pet one, a poison one, a frost one, a physical one and even a generator one.

Can't really think of any build that the Necro has, which would require a gem we don't already have.

Don't forget the thorns gem... will probably use that with pet builds that grant the pets your thorns damage.
Agree that we probably have sufficient gems to use with the necro for now. I just hope there's a viable build that doesn't require BotT... pretty sick of having to use that gem in everything.

posted a message on Ancient Weapon vs Serpent Sparker vs Starfire

Finally got my Tal/Vyr Lightning Hydra Archon build completed last night:

    https://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Mugsy-6765/hero/86939021

I have a 3k dps Sever but no ancient Sparker or Starfire. I can cube either though or equip the Sparker. Anyone know if it's better to use:

    - Sparker equipped + Starfire in the cube

    - The ancient weapon equipped + Starfire in the cube

    - The ancient weapon equipped + Sparker in the cube

Seems like a lot of dps lost without an ancient weapon with MH hitting harder since it's based off weapon damage but the extra powers might make up for it. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, the event with the portal and having Kanai run around with you is active now. But there's no chest with the Kanai's Skorn white transmog item.

Done this several times but nothing spawns. Even tried doing the event to see if completion triggers the chest spawning but nothing appears. Anyone had better luck?

    yikes those conquest looks bad...

Boss Mode and On a Good Day would be the easiest for those who are just playing a single character IMHO. Both I've done many times in previous seasons.

I believe if you want an item you just can't seem to get hold of you need at least 16 rares and mats worth (400 of each) and upgrade all of them in a row so you give RNG a chance to get around to what you want. I've found if you break the upgrade sequence and come back to it again then you will get the same easy to get items up first again.

I tell people the same sort of advice. As a comparison, I did about 80 upgrades of 2H mighty weapons to get the one I wanted in ancient.

ol_baid, bryan1234203, and all the others who requested an update:

Season Journey now updated to S9 on the Tracker. Required some major changes that messed up some of my scripts, but I did some quick tests and it should all be fine. As usual, let me know if you find any mistakes.

    Nice work!
    Two typos:

    1. For Champion, I think the gems just need to be leveled to 35, not 45.
    2. Conqueror SK kill is 30sec, not 15sec according to http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/20407576/first-look-season-9-12-23-2016

Apart from that, I can't see any thing that looks odd. It's good to see that the A1-5 bounties can be done individually.

posted a message on Factors that killed D3

I wouldn't say that the end game is dull... at least not at first.

I've had players pick up D3 over the past year that have been really hooked. Those who've spent the time learning how to spec for max damage output enjoy the process of gearing up and trying new builds/classes.

Unfortunately, the problem with the end game is that it's now too easy to get the gear you need. I remember spending 3 months to get my first T6 build working and whilst that might be too long, spending 1 day or less to be T10 viable is a bit too quick for longevity. I do appreciate that it's this quick for the sake of the season journey (for unlocking the stash tab) but it doesn't help with the longevity of the game.

Personally, I think that they should have included a means in NS to unlock stash tabs (e.g. 2 tabs for hitting P1000, 2 tabs for getting 6000 achievement points) in addition to the Seasonal Conqueror reward. They could have then left out Haedrig's Gift and reduced drops so that it would take 2 weeks to farm up a T10 viable build. This would help prolong the effort required to progress and not made hitting the progression ceiling as quickly.

    Quote from Mirsset»

You need to have more Cooldown Reduction for Vengeance uptime.

Amulet should be more like %elemental dmg, chc, chd, socket.

If you feel squishy, you can still try Elusive Ring and swap to CoE when you'll feel more experienced with playstyle.

Also you can swap Focus rune on Evasive Fire to Hardened rune for more toughness.

On HC I will be more careful with higher GRs, rather take it step by step, improving gear, playstyle and caldesanns.

    This.

Perma vengeance requires about 37% CDR and is needed for both increased hatred regen, increased damage, and (with visage of gunnes) another 50% damage reduction all the time. I'd consider running Obsidian Ring in the cube until you hit 37% CDR on gear. Items that I prefer to roll CDR on are shoulders, gloves, quiver, diamond in helm, and then max out CDR paragons. If you roll max CDR on most of these slots, you'll hit 37% easily.

Like others have said, you'll want to be in a position of higher toughness first and after you've exhausted all options to gain damage without sacrificing toughness, begin to drop some in order to gain damage. That balance is up to you to decide as it needs to suit your playstyle and how much you're willing to step outside your comfort zone.

But if you're finding yourself too squishy still, areas you could gain toughness:

    - drop Zeis for Esoteric Alteration

    - changing wolf companion to boar

    - elusive ring in cube (as you were doing but not ideal)

    - increase All Res on gear (I have All Res on chest and boots). You're also missing secondary resistances on some gear (but this is more luck... ensuring the right primary stats is more important). You could swap out Witching Hour for a Hunter's Wrath, would make running the Evasive Fire Hardened rune more bearable if you're use to the fast hatred gen of Focus.

You need a better restraint ring with both crit stats on it too. LOH on the Yangs is debatable... it's decent but I personally prefer Vit on my Yangs for more hit points.

But if looks like you've got a viable UE build from what you could slap together. Keep up with the grind... eventually you'll get gear with better stats.
