posted a message on Diablo 3 Banwave: Blizzard bans botters from US Servers finally

@Zt1mQ Really? Their names get shown at the top 10 of the leaderboards. They take spots of honest people who maybe have a lower record but a valid one. It is just fair to ban them. Because if THEY are so good, THEY can easily make that record again with a valid group. We do have nothing to prove here...

posted a message on Bounty runs necessary?
    Quote from overmindvic»

    Hello All

I know that the most efficient way of getting an ancient item with the right rolls is to reroll it untill you get one. But to be honest I really don't like doing bounty runs. For me it is too much forced and not 'aRPGious' enough. I should be able to find my upgrades via rifts and GR runs, at least that is more fun to me. And now the question: do you think that avoiding bounties compleatly could still be somehow viable in terms of getting desired loot? Or would it take too much time?

    All polite answers appriciated :)

    Regards

I think nobody is a big fan of bounties. But you can think this about yourself. What item do you need? If it would be for example a perfectly rolled furnace. You should do bounties. The droprate for this item is so low and if you make bounties, say 4 t13 bounties in one hour you will have the chance to reroll this item 12 times. The chance to get an ancient furnace is very high. And this is just --one hour-- of playing.

But if you take for example the average bracers (lets exclude good secondary rolls, as needed for some builds) you will get ancient and good one easily just by farming.

So what i do most of the time is getting my ancient weapon per bounties relatively early in the season (for some its even easier to do this with death breaths (e.g. DH dagger (50% chance to roll) and then just farm.
Later bounties will become important. I just played solo this season. My crusader has paragon 1050 and i am solo rank 70 with a 95 GR rift and i did just like 30 bounty runs this season (all to get a good shield, which i did not get ;D).

So short: If you do not want to do bounties, then just play. you can still do relatively well. Just for the weapon it might be important. But on the otherh and it does not hurt that much to do some bounties a week (especially since next season nobody can fail to hand in :D).

posted a message on Patch 2.5.1 - Predictions Poll

It is always the same, the first two patches in a year some things happen.

Then the small crew needs to prepare stuff for the blizzcon and we get almost nothing.

Then some promises at blizzcon for the next year.

    Repeat.

I think this time the difference will be that the necro will be released shortly after blizzcon.

so i expect some balance changes for 2.5.1 but not much.

posted a message on POLL: How rare should Primal Ancients be!?

higher than 1% is too uncertain.

I know we are not too many people for voting but maybe add more options like this:

    <=1%

    3%

    5%

    >5%

And google how to poll, should be easily done ^^

''i play now about 16h each day''

no thanks...life is to live, not to play Diablo non stop...

This surely is strange. wit 16h a day you would not talk about having 700 mats or getting 1k. This is done in like an 2 hour of rift farming.
For fun a friend and me said, that we farm rifts until we get 550 legendaries, 100 GR keys, and some other stuff. I used the sage crusader build on t12 (there is a thread about efficient builds) and it took me like 6-7 hours (distributed over 4 days) to get 500 legendaries, 4000 deathbreaths, 3500 of each mats (i always collected the white ones in the specific A5 rift) and 160 GR keys. But this is a little bit offtopic.

Like in other threads i totally agree with bagstones opinion.
And i want to stress out how important it is that the game has elements which can keep a person playing it 8 hours, while still having fun.
Because what each community needs are streamers. They have a Viewerbase that may also come back or gets motivated by them which increases the playerbase. Also it will prevent some people from just playing the first 2 weeks of each season.

All in all, Primals don't add anything to the game except power creep. Which is the same problem with paragons. It's all about the creep, and not about how you play the game.

If they put a seasonal cap on main stat it would be about how you'll want to play the game - focus on GR for exp or rift/bounty for primals. As of now primals are only power creep and some motivation for the dedicated players. But they are a step in the right direction. A seasonal cap on main stat will give the player the opportunity to choose his way of progression through the season. Once the cap is reached - he can either push season's LBs or switch to non-season. With the time the optimal duration for a season based on the value of the cap will be realized.

I would even go further and introduce character aging for seasons. Each character can live for 500 real hours during a season. Once these end the player won't have the option to play any more with this character during the season. Combined with soul-bound items and mats (again only a seasonal feature) this will totally make botting irrelevant on seasons. Because botting will cost you real hours and your character will age.

With primal ancients the paragonsystem gets nerfed a little bit and finding primals is not about power creep (sure you can do this too while searching for the items), but for grinding items. Your goal for the season could be to gear up your character completely during the seas

on instead of reaching top x in the leaderboards. And you know what? Endless grinding through monster groups is and was always what diablo was supposed to be. People want back the "good old times". But they don't remember that it was a time when they did nothing else than running the exact same farming route (or later FoM) over and over again using exactly one build.

Nowadays so many builds are viable. Look at the leaderboards. For so many classes almost 3 builds are in the top 20 or were until recently.

I think "character aging" is a very bad idea. This game is supposed to give a reward for putting time into it. And there still is enough room for "skill". I am always shocked when i see, how much problems some people have of getting geared correctly or get the leaderboards (and yes you can easily get top 100 without any powercreeping).

If you want to have a game where "everything" is balanced based on skill, even blizzard itself offers enough options (sc,sc2,wc3, mb HotS).
But again Diablo is a game where you have to put time (and the thing why streamers left is because they are not able to put time into it anymore, because gearing up was too fast etc.) in to get on top and i think it is fine that such a game exists.

Lucky that bagstone came with a quality post to get my mood back, thx ;D.

Exactly that was the same thign i thought when i read about prime ancients.

I mean we might get this feeling back when a prime ancient drops that we had in d3 !

Also some quality of life changes for the bounties are made (bye public failing guys) :D

    Quote from Bagstone»

    Quote from KeepSwagging»

I am sorry, but I cannot agree that you gave full stars on crusader build. In my opinion, this build is way too weak. Terrible toughness, not enough damage. Overall very unstable. Boss kill is way too slow. You even died in boss fight. You spent 5:50 to run a whole rift. This collectively saying that you should not run this gear or build in T13. I am sorry, but that is the fact. The cold truth. No offense.

P.S. I have fully geared Akkhan Norvald build. I cannot be satisfied with this build at all. I think you know what I mean. What I don't understand is that the fact you gave full stars on that pathetic(sorry) build.

That's fair, and it's exactly the reason why I wrote "SUBJECTIVE" in the intro to those ratings.

Of course this build shouldn't run T13. No sage's build should run T13. You can see by my numbers that actually TX is the sweet spot for the crusader. It still has 3 stars because its relative strength to the other builds. The only other builds that have similar damage were LTK monk and EB wizard - both of which also received 3 stars, but both of which shouldn't run T13/T12 either. The reason why I ran T12/T13 on those classes was merely to show that T13 is not worth it, because I know a lot of people seem to think "I need to run T13". Which is wrong. There are paragon 1500 top players who farm T11 all day because they know it's the fastest.

Anyways, my subjective assessment is based on relative strength. And in relation to the other builds, the crusader was among the strongest of them all. Also, forget about the rift closing time, really. How fast you clear a rift is 80% about the rift and 20% about your build. I always roll my eyes if people say "this build runs average 2 minute rifts". Yeah well... there are rifts which are impossible to close in 2 minutes, by design. And there are rifts which you can clear in one minute, if your damage+mobility is high enough. That's why the "rift clearing competitions" never really got a lot of audience: it was more about fishing 10 open maps in a row rather than anything else.

P.S.: On Reddit someone also had concerns about the crusader, and after some talking he linked his crusader and we discovered some issues that were holding him back. I'm not sure if that's the case for you, probably not, but I'm just saying that sometimes there are other reasons as to why a build is perceived as rather weak.

I am just paraon 800 atm, no augment on geat. Not even perfect gear, but most legendaries.
I followed the saged guide "triumvirate" but i put the aquila cuirass into the cube for more survivability. On t12 everything (except the rift boss, who needs like 1 sec of thornriding) is onehit. I am close to switching to t13 and i think this build is okay for t13.
Also in the guide i took as an example, the guy went t13: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mGmqDF9jb0&t=262s&list=PLQzfpKz9SxkEl1DdrknH91nmt2ZRnXPS5&index=9
The one thing that is important is that you dont mess up. If you are not in akkhams champion and land bombardment you will lose much time because the huge damageboost misses. Same goes for iron skin of course. But after a few rifts of training this shouldnt be a problem.

What is also important is that you make good use of condemn so that all enemies get hit by the bombardment.

So maybe i would remove some stars of "lazy" ;D

Everything else important is explained in the video of baromir linked above. So if you have all this, you should not have a problem at least running it on t12 perfectly.

the bigger problem is that its always kinda the same meta crap. supports are the same every fuckign season and dps just switches around sometimes. the lack of anything new is the problem here. its rly not that timeconsuming to make up a new set from time to time. even with the new legendaries its always the same.

Yes, i said that in another thread (or here earlier). Blizzard does not want to change something for the sake of change. But i guess that is what we need in a new season. And because nothing changed people got away from d3 because it got boring.
And that they nerfed support dh and cruisader while nerfing but still let monk be the ultimate support also seems not to be well conceived.

It is really a shame that the dh and the cruisader are not in the meta since over 1 year.

I remember the other classes were in the same boat before. Every competitive game goes through these kind of pick and chose phases when there are changes. So if those are the classes you want to play just give it some time and try to enjoy them anyway
In the PTR right now I have a hardcore WD using the jade harvester set with some modifications and its pretty fun. Rank 12 or something because nobody else is doing what I am but im having fun with it and thats all that matters when it comes to Diablo
Sure other classes had this too. But we are not just in any iteration state of the game. The first few seasons, fine. But i think the goal is convergence towards balance. But it has gotten worse instead, imo (okay, we now have 2 damagedealer, but classes nearly viable as supporters before are now useless). And what i do each season is dicing which class i play, be it in the meta or not. And i like your approach of playing the game. I do that each season with a second char. But i think that my complains are still entitled.
