posted a message on Craft or Drop ?
The reason crafting is so much better right now is because the contnt really only takes you roughly to lvl 8 give or take. Then we grind this low level to reach 13. we are limited in drops by the level of the creatures we are fighting. we are only limted in crafting by our character level. When the game is released it is unlikely that we will be grinding out levels at the early stages of them game. so we will cruise right along staying closer to the level of the creatures we are fighting and in turn receiving better drops. I also have a hunch that blizzard has dumbed down the chance of good loot droppping so people would be more likely to test the crafting system out.

I still don't understand why they changed the skill system, I'm not playing a beta so it's hard for me to understand what was wrong with the previous one. From what I saw from videos, in the old one it was a lot easier to change your skill set up, apparently on this one it takes more time to switch skills?
    \
I am in the beta and have experience both of the latest skill systems. The old system was cool to me because it allowed you to see all of you abilities in one organized window. The thing that bothered me most about it was the fact that there was really no relation between the skill slot on your skill ui and the button you would actually press to activate the ability. This window also only took up half of the screen, which I don't really care about - I have not had any bad or good experiences with this window size so far. The new ui is designed to be more integrated with the buttons you press to activate the ability, which is pretty cool to me. The thing I don't like is the fact that you have to dig through the ui to find the abilities you want to tie to any particular button. There is also no auto attack for some reason. I wanted to see how my DH would swing a javalin and I couldnt :(. Anayway I am hopeful that Blizz will tamper with the new ui and make it right. I believe this new ui is a step in the right direction even though I don't currently like it as much. It has more potential.

Yeah I read that. I opened it about 7 minutes after it was posted. I was just wondering if he had some other info from Jay that discredited a possible April 19 relase date. I know the store is guessing, but who is to say they did not guess right? I don't see anything in Jay Wilson's message that would support an argument against a release date at the end of april.

    - dumbing the game down - catering to idiots and retarded kids all over
From this I can see that you probably don't care about how the things you say can negatively effect how people look at you, or how people feel about themselves. However, just in case you do care but are unaware, I'm telling you that comments like this don't help get any points across and only make people mad, sad, or just straight up ignore you.

There are several mechanics in the game that my it possible for my girlfriend, who is a huge rpg fan, to easily understand and get right into a new type of rpg. These same mechanics allow me, a hardcore videogamer, to dip right in and get to doing exactly what I want to do with this game. I am in my twenties and pulling a 3.5 gpa at a major university. I am sure most people that frequent this site and these forums are mature and developed, and also enjoy these game mechanics. Do not call me a idiot or a retarded kid.

posted a message on Happy with 4 player co-op?
Having been in the beta since early this month (and enjoying it almost daily :) I can say that 4 players is a pretty solid number. Also even with the early level, less spectacular spells and abilities, the screen can get pretty cluttered at times. Also I kind of enjoy the fact that there will never be a game with all classes in it at the same time. I can't place my finger on why I like this idea, I just do.

I have been saying for about a month and a half now, that it will be released a week before finals. I know that this store probably does not know for sure, but their prediction falls right along side mine. Why Blizz?! Why are you trying to flunk me out of school?

I like this idea; though it kinda reminds me of doing daily-random dungeons in WoW. What would the rewards be? Loot from the end boss? If it were just boss loot then I think people would be inclined against it, as there's so many other ways to get loot. I like how it increases replayability though.

The difference between a daily random dungeon in WoW and my idea is that in WoW when you go accept the quest you know excatly where to go to accept it. You know exactly what to expect, the rewards, and the quest always involves a dungeon that you've done tons of times... the same way over and over again. There is also the fact that you can only do this once a day.

My idea states that you must travel to your destination before you know what you must do, and before you know the rewards. You may have to enter a dungeon. However, this dungeon will be randomized, with a new layout and new monsters. There may also just be a random event taking place that requires your involvment, no dungeon crawling required. The point is that there will be a wide variety of things to do and accomplish - the rewards would be randomized. You may end up with some gold, exp, loot, or a sweet dye. All and all I just think this idea plays into the randomness very well, where a wow daily is only random to a very limited degree.

do you think something like ears from Diablo 2 will be implemeted into pvp?

I have heard mention of ears dropping from pvp, perhaps in a bashiok post or some such. who really knows though untill we see it.

As far as achievments go, I also think rewards would be cool for reaching some of the dificult achievements. I am open to a wide variety of rewards, mostly because I believe the game will be well balanced and (I admit I may be a bit ignorant as far as this subject goes but I have an open mind) I don't think there will be any unoticable ways to exploit an achievement loophole for personal gain.

posted a message on Cool Idea I had
Yaaar! I actually posted this a few months back in a different end-game topic. However, I think it may have been over looked as I did not receive any feedback. I know the game is nearing its final stages and we are all just waiting to hear word from Blizz on how all the game systems will be implemented, so I figured it would be fun to talk about or rehash any cool ideas we have thought of, or come across. Without any further ado, here is my end game idea.

If any of you have ever played Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, you would know about the turf war mini-game. When you open the city map during this mini-game you can see different color coded areas. Each color represents a different gang's turf. If an area of the map was flashing red it meant that your turf was being attacked by a rival gang. You have a limited amount of time to reach this contested area and then defend it from the gang.

I thought this idea could be translated to Diablo 3 for end-game. Keep in mind that if you are in the end-game stage you have basically explored and cleared out most of the available areas, since you must play through the game roughly three times. Once you are in the end-game stage, you can open your world map to view contested areas and dungeons. Since this game relies a lot on the randomness of things, these contested areas and dungeons will be in random locations and they will have random reasons for being contested. One example I can think of would take place in the Tristram Cathedral (although there can be many reasons why this particular place is contested, this is just one example). You have cleared the cathedral and killed the Skeleton King (at least three times by now). Seeing an opportunity to advance in the ranks of hell, a new boss has set-up a base of operations in the Tristram Cathedral. It is your job to defeat him and release the cathedral from the clutches of hell once more.

This one example I gave would allow the player to earn rewards for defeating this new threat on humanity and face any brand of monster not previously seen in the cathedral. This could also allow for new decor in the cathedral as well, every demon has its own sense of style! (Some prefer impaled victims, while others prefer drapery made from human flesh)

This system in general will add a whole new level of randomness to the game. It does not always have to involve a lengthy dungeon crawl either. If the player chooses instead to head to a contested wilderness area, they may just encounter the aforementioned caravan under siege. All in all I think this could be one of many interesting end-game ideas. It would randomly give you that end-game boss run for loot or some other random event, "Easter egg", that Blizzard is known for. I'm interested to see what you guys think.

Edit - Geez... sorry it is so long. hope it was interesting enough to hold your attention.

posted a message on The age old question: Who will you play?
I know we have all seen this topic many times, but I always find it fun to see what people say on this topic.

I am most definitely playing the barbarian first and I made this decision based entirely off of how the enemy looks after being dispatched by each player class. A few examples:

Barbarian - Makes bodies fly across the screen, off ledges, into walls, etc. (YAY!)

Witch doctor - enemies melt and die fiery deaths.

wizard - Seems to be a combination of all options. Bodies flying, melting, exploding. (Probably my second fav)

    Monk - hahah BLOOD SUPERNOVA!

Demon hunter - maybe not as extravagant as the others, still very gruesome deaths. (Small bola explosion causes head to pop!)

I would love to see who you guys think you'll be playing as of now and why.
