So...not that weve played nething past normal yet, but I was thinking, are we gonna be able to build our characters kit around what skills weve chosen for our followers, and will they be able to actually stay alive in hell/inferno? For examble im a Witch Doctor and I pass Grasp of the Dead for the Scoundrel's Crippling Shot for slowing enemies?
Pretty much what I'm asking is if they are going to be viable enough in higher difficulties to build our kit around theirs.
yeah i realized how dumb that looked after i posted lol. ...theres no smiley with a gun to his head is there. i really have no idea dont have beta and even if i did i doubt lvl 13 is something to base it off of. I just hear a bunch of people bitching that they suck. Why is this?
because before the dogs were literally invincible no matter what, they could solo the LK because they never died and u never had to worry about recasting them or anything, then blizz thought wtf their way too strong and brought down their survivability AND doubled the dmg of mobs so they now actually die. but with jungle fortitude they do just fine. the ability has a minute cooldown and i never lost all 3 dogs before the cooldown was up and i could resummon them. and only on the LK do they insta-die. which being able to sit their and have your minions tank on a boss is way too unfair because every other class has to kite unless they have crazy good gear
ah...so they got normalized and thats why these retards are bitching all over every forum Ive read...gotcha
Was messing around with calculator to come up with a build that takes advatage of the Demon Hunter's slowing skills. Idea is to slow/trap and burn em down.

Im not going to take zombie dogs theyre too weak..obviously I will for normal until i get gargantuan. Yeah I can see poison resist elite groups totally killing this build. A pure spirit build though has physical and arcane damage spells so you could probably get away with that. Idk I guess Ill really just have to play to figure out a build that fits my playstyle.
When Diablo 3 launches I think I have finally decided to roll a Witch Doctor first, have been torn between him and the love of the Barbarian from my D2 days. I'm trying to decide if I want a poison based build or a spirit based build as I loved both Poison Nova and Bone Spirit builds on my necro in D2.
Heres my take on a poison build. Only problem I see with it is Life Regen which is why I chose Soul Harvest over a Defensive Skill, but that also puts me in harms way to cast so I'm hoping that my pet and medusa spiders will give me the time to run up and cast it without sustaining too much damage. Im also leaning towards not using a follower until Inferno.
I like the "idea" of the new skill system (the unlocking of skills and runes as you level) IF they add more depth to the skills (some way to customize them, be they runes or gems or sockets or points, or whatever), but I much prefer the old layout. The new one is shit.
um...each skill has 5 different ways to customize them(runes). I think any more depth would be overkill. As for the new UI my only problem is the same as everyone elses with not having all the skills on one page when it comes to comparing them. But I guess that just adds a couple minutes to trying out new builds, or reason to memorize skill effects quicker
This is my new build keeping in mind that, we will definately need a fury dump in case we reach max fury, and trying to balance out damage output with survivability. This is more of a crit build.
Passives: Ruthless: Works well with the crit build Nerves of Steel: Patch 14 increased the passive to 100% additional Armor of your Vitality (can't really pass this up, think this passive is going to be seen a lot more in barb builds). It also allows me to take War Cry(Charge!) for an additional 2 seconds on WotB. Animosity: 120 Max Fury for Dread Bomb and more Fury to work with before Fury dump, and of course the regen.
Cleave, Overpower, and War Cry for Fury builders.
Leap Attack(Iron Impact) for more survivability and an oh shit skill
Weapon Throw(Dread Bomb) Fury dump so I can keep building Fury and keep WotB up longer, plus it will cause a lot of damage
WotB(Thrive on Chaos) Build based on keeping this up for as long as possible.
Idk looks solid to me, what do you guys think?
Edit: Patch 14 changes that effect this build War Cry: nerfed again (but we got 30% passive reduction, which kinda changes back to 50% :D) Leap Attack: now it's called just leap, and it got a huge buff, also slowing monsters in the target area. WOW! Weapon Throw: nerfed again to 120% weapon damage Overpower: ability is changed again. Now, each time you crit, you have a chance to lower the CD by 1 second. The damage was nerfed by 95% too: now it deals 165% weapon damage.
Nerves of Steel back to 100% vitality to armor

In my opinion Wrath of the Berserker is a rather weak cooldown unless you have it runed for either Insanity or Slaughter. Also while a Thrive on Chaos build sounds cool realistically I think it wouldn't be that great unless you're in a place like the D2 cow level and there are enemies everywhere.
Keep in mind though by the time we reach Inferno there are gonna be tons of mobs to kill, and since the rune isnt even usable til max level I think well be fine. Im sure Blizzard intented WotB(Thrive on Chaos) to be something that we can make a build around, and syngergize appropriately through trial and error I guess. But to survive Inferno with this build I think were gonna need to switch out some passives and active skills for a little more survivability. But guess well have to wait til release to figure out how long (with the right skills) that we'll be able to keep WotB up.
I kinda had the same idea for my barb, but until I actually get to test it I was trying to figure out if Weapons Master (Mighty Weapon) or if Animosity would be a better Fury Gen Passive.
im hoping 3 fury generating abilities would be enough to keep Revel for my rune on Overpower. If Cleave, Whirlwind(Dust Devils), and Leap Attack is enough Aoe I was thinking about going with your combo of popping Battle Rage + WotB.

Yeah I was leaning towards switching overpower out for it. probably a good call especially with the overpower nerf.
http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#bVdRSP!ZbW!ZcccZc and revenge got buffed to 6% life
