It will be interesting if cross class armour wearing benefits certain weird/hybrid builds. But if cross class armour wearing becomes something normal and just happens unintentionally all the time, the class distinct meanings for their own identity will felt violated, like all the wearing can be thrown into the same bash, class capacity can become miscegenated hazardness, hope the wearing translation doesn't imply classes will lose its meaning literally.

Of course I don't think it will go that far, but just to write it down in case someone has a real opinion to confirm such horror. Or is it really that horrifying? Perhaps this possibility can branch out further classes development, a sixth, seventh class between those original five?

Is this some kind of interactive border to your diablo screen? i may be completely wrong but thats how i understood it, kinda, after my mind was blown a few times
I think normal computer monitor will do. These creatures will only stay on the edge of your screen, and that is the fundamental concept for it, 1)perhaps you can only see glimpses of their entire figure since they're so close into the edge, 2)or they can be completely surfaced and sustain their entire form near the edge of your monitor. (Means they're not running half of their body in/out of your screen spontaneously.)

One reason why I didn't bother to explain its mechanics more coherent was, I was to excited and wanted the name of the species speak for it self, for it really got to me if the dev team read it they'll take the idea in no matter how I explained it. Well...I started to freakout about the possibility that they couldn't understand them either.

You have my attention too. I'm not sure I get the idea, except that ppl with tunnel vision won't be able to play whatever you're suggesting.
Well I'm glad you got it, all work and no play since they shouldn't even be using a computer =(

If anyone wants a further explaination, and perhaps introduce new examples. Or explaining them in your own terms like italofoca did,I will certainly encourage that.

What I'm trying to do is to slice in with a different angle of creativity aspect. For the cursor's mechanic is simple, lovingly simple, yet with a different approach, with the same click to lead and kill, it rapidly changes the view of all the strategy the whole game obtains with. And the gameplay view itself should be as seductive as its mechanics.

Let's start with the simple one

Screen Edgelings: These creatures only appears in the edges of the gamer's vision (appears when player's certain traits are active. The vision and interaction with edgelings are exclusive to each individual players.) Edgelings will retreat and vanishes when player approach them directly, Edgelings can be consider as a resource, or a type of rogue-edge-eating-minion used by professional summoners, a clever features of the game that implement into specific builds' daily dungeon runs/treasure hunts/boss fights.

A definition for it can be something ghostlike, but I can't stop picturing Demon Hunter gutting in freaky ways with its corpse, and harvesting brainiac organs that can produce into megnatic rounds.

For me they looks like dinersaurous monster with great measurable hamburger flesh, some has purple body flesh, waiting to be carve, or be use as meat shield.

One of the interesting feature it provides for gameplay value is when Demon Hunter sees an edgeling during battle, she will try to position herself to make the edgeling stay in screen (but also not approaching it directly/ making it stay edge.) This provides hunting skill and strategy directly inspire from the gamers themself, interesting builds and intense gameplay element can be introduce by this mechanic.
Perhaps tracking the edgling in the edges will turn it into your minions.

Perhaps you'll learn to read Edgelings' body language of when it is gonna pulse a little for you to put it down. And for PVE teamplay, maybe sometimes certain Edgelings will be seen by two players. And it will be interesting seeing team co-op, dicisions of how one member continue tracking the ling while the others luring hords of demons away. Adding a bonus twist to demon slaughtering.

Key Notes: Edge Livings cannot be directly approach with, basic tracking needs switching running to walking. (So when multiple vision-sharing occur in pve teamplay one person will have the task to switch running to walking, follow the Edge Livings while teammates protect her from getting stun, or crowd to death by hordes of demons.) When Edge Livings vanishes from the edges of your screen, they are gone for good.

Concept of ways to approach Edge Livings: 1)environmental reinforcement: Shoot at interesting triggery near Edge Livings. A door/a case/make demons that are near Edge Livings splashes blood toward their direction. Forcing it to pause a little so you can have enough time to stop tracking it (EdgeLivings' AI should be friendly enough to pause everytime you fire, but not firing directly at it, if fire directly at them they'll vanishes into the edge), and stun its face, shoot until it stop twitching. Or find blockades to hide yourself, Edge Livings will pause when you are hidden. 2) walk with it until it does natural pauses long enough for you to pause along and gun the freak down.

(Ways for Professional summoner to lockdown Edge Livings as Edge Eaters are not developed yet.)

I am continue finishing my tentacle theory the moment I post this online, please continue your questioning, I'm grateful to have you with us.

Demon Hunter Underground Tentacle Attack Theory: Only the player's screen having tentacles edging inward, aiming toward the demon hunter, the length is spontaneous, changeing in seconds, surfacing in random order. (This vision will be excluded from other players) The mechanic for killing acts like Druide's hurricane, when the tentacle looks reachable in length to the victim, DH trys to chase the victim and locate the short, fat tentacle's lair underneath the victim. When engage, demon hunter hold-shift, press mouse key and draw at opposite direction to unblanket it, forcing the single fat tentacle leap at the victim.(draw cursor at the opposite direction to surface the tentacle for the attack.) Maybe this is not an ideal skill for DH, but it's a concept to explore the cursor based attacks. An elaborated version to druide's hurricane. I will continue editing to perhaps make further example for these functions. For now, this is the whole of all of my theories.

Do you think these mechanics will work well for Diablo III?

    How will it affect pvp?

Please express your thoughts. It is really relaxing to hear from another person's view of things.

The Megnetic Rounds: shoot thrust of silver eletrics, splatter to draw demons position into traps/to clump multiple targets; exploding them with single round heavy damage dealers. (or imagine continuous shooting to lead screaming targets into a mouth of miscreants.

Language barrier? Well English is my first and only language...

I know cursor-based-attacks sounds somewhat nonsensical. But I wanted the theme to be as direct as possible, as it turns out still sounding weird to the ear, although I'll confess being confused to the language of mechanics I used to elaborate those theories myself.

For if you're referring to the tweet than yes, it is difficult to write coherently when one can only manage to squeeze in so many words in one message. And thanks for clarifying what I wrote, this can really helps the ideas to be more direct. You're great, and of course I'll continue posting =)

This thread primarily focuse on the other sides/angles of the creative aspects that could be add in to Diablo 3. I'm perfectly content with the works from the develop team. But since there's really nothing we can do, other than read new info and discuss it. I perhaps would like to introduce some other angles for the same exact cursor mechanics but with other aspects its potential would allow.
A week ago, I'd pitched in dozens of ideas into @Diablo at twitter. And one of them is a renaissance of an old skill from D2's Druide, Hurricane.

What the hurricane does is it wrap your character in a full screen sized hurricane, in a much interesting way to put it: You can chase down your enemy with your vision. I think there're more depth waiting to be add in to this skill. Furthermore, there could be more exploitable uses for diablo's cursor base attack.

So the purpose that I created this thread is for people who doesn't mind pitching in their ideas (and they could perhaps leads to something that has a sophisticated purpose ingame), but perhaps setting up a twitter account to message Blizzard seemed to tiresome of an idea to them.

Hopefully the dev team can be attracted by this thread if it really got something cooking up inside. I believe there's more creativity space other than the elemental abilities in diablo.
Maybe I'm saying other usage for the same mechanics.

Here's the tentacle attack I tweet to Diablo,
@Diablo Underground tentacle atk, function much like Druid hurricane, surfaced blind tentacle when cross victim by mousepull-opposite.
(You can only tweet so many words in one post thus I had to play with my space wisely)
It would be extremely exciting to see some hidden strange ideas that's been playing arround in someone's head for a long time. And please be gentle with each other's ideas, wouldn't want the open minded ones pull their plug away.

This is another idea, a skill, with the use of cursor leading the vision.
    edit:
@diablo Edges of The Screen Skill: Attracts edge livings, when appear move DH make em stay in edge or they vanish soon, use em to kill.
@Diablo 1)Edge Livings "real" when DH shot em, hard cuz vanish easily if dh's still 2) manage em stay edge soon become edge eaters for you.

Please do comment even if you're against this, an experienced person with diablo material should always be respected for his/her point of view. Love criticism

EDIT: Link to complete elaboration on Edge Lings' mechanics on the same site

So now Ophion is saying it's vary to translate the angel's act in Diablo.

Perhaps saying even if the meteor is sented from heaven, there's a purpose behind it?

Perhaps saying there's some history of diablo he had follow through with that gives their method other interpretations?

I don't know that the cultists are powerful enough to summon a huge meteor. Whoever is behind the cultist's rise to power probably is though. I don't see how someone that evil isn't somehow connected to Hell though.

And we should keep in mind that the Angels in Diablo are much more sinister than the angels in the Bible. Not to mention that God/Jesus raising the dead is part of the Apocalypse, so its not out of the question that the Heavens are commanding the dead in D3.

My freak juice is flowing just by you contributing such fun facts. Angels in Diablo are sinister? (mmmm monsterous elemental beings?)

No argument with bible's reference; and I simply feel joyful for how literal can the dev team be with the activities of angels in Diablo.

I really should start paying attention to Diablo story content. And of course I'm prepared to take considerable focuse in D3's storyline. While I've never taken a serious notion to Diablo plotwise in the past, I'll admit much of it has to do with the age when I engaged in D1 on playstation platform. Mmm, but such facinating knowledge for the activities angels played in the story of Diablo.

Eh. Can't say I'm a fan. The management of STR/DEX/ENG and weapons is what made those classes different between each other. This effectively kills a couple hundred hybrid/weirdo builds. I haven't really liked the DII management of things, tho, especially without armor penalties and the like. They're both pretty faulty in my view, one is too homogenizing the other is too all-or-nothing.

So basically the builds are still being obliterated by the simple fact of the dev team wanted to sum up str/dex/eng into simple categories. The builds are simplified, and the hybrid/weirdo builds you're stating that vanishes along with, are they consider pvp effective?

Are they like an ice/electric sorc which are meant to threaten two genre of elemental weakenesses? As an outsider, I cannot comprehend the meaning of those stats you've experiences with, but I'm curious of what kind of damage is being dealt to builds organizations, and what hybrid/weirdo builds are suppose to be consider with.

I have a feeling Necromancer might return in an expansion (two expansions is a real possibility). This is because WD isn't an archetype summoner, but bit of a hybrid.

Wouldn't that be nice. That will be a recapturing of something important for me actually (defnitely not talking about pet mechanics this time :>)

I learned the word "necromancer" because of the need of knowing why my character look so weird. This was in my six grade? Fifth? No clue, remove my father's big-whale-stomache dictionary from the study and check on the whole deal of necro myself. Quite satisfying.

Can we look forward to the dev team annually expanding the game's content? Do you think that's possible?

This is indeed a very good argument.

While someone might argue that having no ability to micromanage your pets is detrimental to one's ability to play the kind of WD they want, I think that it is exactly the other way around.

It'd be an easy cop out for them to just have a pet bar similar to what WoW has, with commands such as "attack", "follow" and "stay. Then they wouldn't have to bother making a decent AI for the pets.

There's got to be more to it than stay/defensive/offensive. Sorry if I'm completely obsessive with this thread, for I'm subconsciously driven to the idea that one of Blizzard's staff is reading this post, and Bashiok's interest was meant to see how the community reacts.

Here I'll say this, even if most players will focuse on solo activities to one's builds pontential, the "instructions" creation doesn't really hurt the format infact the two dementional world of Diablo encourages it, and I think a true summoner is something decent to be looking forward to in the new Diablo.

I think some people's blood can get real pumped up for this possibility. A Witch Doctor. Obviously this can be dealt with without making it as dramatic as RTS standard. Maybe I'm battleing alone here, but I see summoners as something that was eventually going to evolve out of Necro. And it could allow summoners pvp viable as well.

Why not take considerable care into what this system can accomplish? Is there really no one out there wants to see a Diablo version of a summoner? The angle of its world really can give a clear picture of what a summoner should look like.

Keep in mind that bosses are going to be a lot more interesting than they were in D2. Blizzard said themselves that they want to make bosses more like a Zelda boss, and from what we've seen so far, there is going to be a lot more happening in a boss fight that just a simple attack/dodge scenario. Couple that with the number of skills and rune variances, I find it hard to believe you will want to just use one skill.
I see all positive things coming out of this direciton as well. Cannot remember when was this being established by Jay Wilson though, but it is an important aspect of Diablo 3 for us to look forward to.
The real step up would've been any possible D3 world editor release from Blizzard. Unfortunately it's been decline gently by the development team themself.

    Quote from SFJake

Man, they know how to speak to a naive crowd. Yes, I'm sure you'll be really happy when you realize that this extremely inaccurate comments, translated to: "Well, I hoped that we would, but I can't say exactly how it is because it might just not happen. And here the game is released and you get some lame ass options. But hey, people we're happy about it until they bought it. Win!"

They shouldn't even be allowed to talk if they're going to be so stupidly vague.

    That's a bummer, it's true though.

I was going for a fan comment reinforcement to Bashiok's statement with stronge approval. But it's true the depth will never go into a real "instruction" we hope to be specific with.

Why do I really feel that way though? Probably the same as you do. The sense of pet "micro" doesn't theme to the kind of game they're going for? God I hope that's not true. But there is an idea oh sir we all know that very well, and the right for us to handle creative minion micros are not favored, too much "brain" to be gifted into the world they're going for.

Therefore I can only applaud to whatever additional features to be add into a summoner's deal.
