Likely you have a digital download version 1.12 or 1.13 version of LoD installed. The digital version does not check the cd when it is launching the game. Eastern Sun does use version 1.10 of LoD that still has the cd check.

Now...is there a way to run it in windowed mode? I know you attach -w to the shortcut, but...I'd like to make it a little bigger screen than just the tiny window it starts with.
I installed Eastern Sun a few days ago, but for some reason, when I double click the desktop icon, it doesn't open.
My mouse cursor turns into a CD spinning sort of thing, so I know I clicked it and my computer is working, but it just sits there like that and teases me.
