Oh man, I totally forgot that blizzard is solely releasing artwork just for your satisfaction, what is blizz thinking releasing artwork that you've already seen. Unacceptable blizzard!
Oh man, I guess I got got. Touche sir. I'll just go watch the same movie several times and think about my future. -
May 24, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Seventeenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtIt's not a very good facebook reward though if it's already on their website, even if some of those people hadn't seen it yet.Posted in: News
And three of those Barbarian concept pieces in the first group-piece are on the D3 site, both on the Barbarian main page and in the concept section (though one has a slightly modified helmet). The left-most one has appeared in several places (and I believe in the art trailer released in 2008), though I don't see it on the site.
I may have been mistaken about the second one, it is very similar to some others I have seen.
It's not that I want to make a big deal out of it. It's just that I look forward to these image releases because Blizzard never give us any damn information, and I am sad to see recycled material in them -
May 24, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Seventeenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtI'm wondering why they bothered adding the two Barbarian ones, since they've been on diablo3.com since announcement.Posted in: News
The other stuff is pretty sweet though -
May 19, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Sixteenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtI think it's time to start spamming facebook accounts and liking Diablo up to a million already.Posted in: News
Though if the 1 million reward is as boring as they say, I don't really care...
ON THE OTHER HAND, maybe they were just deliberately underselling it so we won't expect it to be AWESOME -
May 18, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Sixteenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtThis like reward makes me a saaaaad panda. Pretty soon they'll just link to the concept art page on the websitePosted in: News

May 2, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Fourteenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtYeah I hope they avoid too many permanent pets. One or two is nice, too many is annoying. Plus animals and zombies are sillier when they are weapons. Firebats being an inferno-style skill is an awesome thing to doPosted in: News

Can't wait to hear about it, I bet they probably would have just said "it's scrapped" unless they had something to announce. -

They're totally trying to disincentivize skill swapping, true, but that's not the only thing. Motivating people to sweep through the game and kill champions/bosses alike is huge. It completely changes the endgame.
I like the idea of the valor buff stacking with infinite duration, but the problems are pretty easy to see. Resetting the buff at the start of each new act seems like a cool solution, you would pick which act to run partially based on length, and try to make it through the whole thing in a sitting. It's fine if you don't, but if you do you get better drops/makes the end boss of the act that much more epic (because you'll have high valor stacks).
It also makes runs a 2 - 3 hour endeavor if you want to go through the whole act, which fits pretty well with your typical Diablo player's play session I think. For those who would play longer there's a nice breakpoint for devouring food, and if you play in hour chunks you could still farm pretty effectively (though unfortunately not quite as well).

That's why you hunt down and kill someone with a Dota 2 beta key. It's like the number one headband in Afro Samurai: you kill 'em, you get their key.
Dota 2 = League, but with 50% more handsome.

Also, Dota 2, my current passtime

Complaining about it not being able to kill single targets quickly is ridiculous. That's not what it's FOR. It's like complaining about Ancient Spear not knocking targets back. You're doing it wrong.

Oh and the front door, where you walk in. Step inside, walk up and right a little bit. Easy enough to find.

Was this there before? I would think I would have noticed it before now, but this is the first I've heard it.

I have no problem with theorycrafting or jokes. But trying and failing to do math, then posting a whiney thread about how something is SO IMBALANCED OMG with nothing but your failed theorycrafting to back it up is worse than useless. It is actively detrimental to the community.
I have theorycrafted my ass off, I have made dozens of builds for each class on the skill calculator, I have obsessed over any stats I can find about the mechanics/skills/etc. But I have never called anything imbalanced based on that, because I know that my number crunching doesn't amount to dick when it meets the game.
0
Oh it absolutely does. Nothing predicted to be imbalanced by theorycrafting has been vindicated by beta gameplay. There's just too much beyond the numbers to accurately model it. Theorycrafting is virtually mental masturbation until you actually have some gameplay experience behind it.

Same way I decide on the Blizzard forums: whether or not the post is stupid. Examples of stupidity include:
1.) Calling something imbalanced/broken when you haven't played the game.
2.) Claiming the game is already boxed and available from mass retail.
3.) Repeating "Just release it already!" Over and over.
4.) Claiming the game is too easy (especially on Inferno) when you haven't played it.
5.) Calling the item affixes boring when they stated very clearly that they were placeholder stats (this one got the stats taken down entirely, due to sheer mass illiteracy)
Etc, etc. Pretty obvious when you see it.
