Oh man, I totally forgot that blizzard is solely releasing artwork just for your satisfaction, what is blizz thinking releasing artwork that you've already seen. Unacceptable blizzard!
Oh man, I guess I got got. Touche sir. I'll just go watch the same movie several times and think about my future. -
May 24, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Seventeenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtIt's not a very good facebook reward though if it's already on their website, even if some of those people hadn't seen it yet.Posted in: News
And three of those Barbarian concept pieces in the first group-piece are on the D3 site, both on the Barbarian main page and in the concept section (though one has a slightly modified helmet). The left-most one has appeared in several places (and I believe in the art trailer released in 2008), though I don't see it on the site.
I may have been mistaken about the second one, it is very similar to some others I have seen.
It's not that I want to make a big deal out of it. It's just that I look forward to these image releases because Blizzard never give us any damn information, and I am sad to see recycled material in them -
May 24, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Seventeenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtI'm wondering why they bothered adding the two Barbarian ones, since they've been on diablo3.com since announcement.Posted in: News
The other stuff is pretty sweet though -
May 19, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Sixteenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtI think it's time to start spamming facebook accounts and liking Diablo up to a million already.Posted in: News
Though if the 1 million reward is as boring as they say, I don't really care...
ON THE OTHER HAND, maybe they were just deliberately underselling it so we won't expect it to be AWESOME -
May 18, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Sixteenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtThis like reward makes me a saaaaad panda. Pretty soon they'll just link to the concept art page on the websitePosted in: News

May 2, 2011OmniNom posted a message on Fourteenth Batch of Screenshots and ArtYeah I hope they avoid too many permanent pets. One or two is nice, too many is annoying. Plus animals and zombies are sillier when they are weapons. Firebats being an inferno-style skill is an awesome thing to doPosted in: News

Can't wait to hear about it, I bet they probably would have just said "it's scrapped" unless they had something to announce. -

But I'll add that the old system of PvP was the result of someone saying "oops, we need PvP" and throwing in a quick crappy solution. If you want to physically fight off annoying people rather than simply not play with them, cool beans.
For everyone else (I don't pretend to speak for everyone but I SERIOUSLY doubt most people would disagree), we'd rather just not play with the jerk in the first place.
If you like the crappy old system so much, you can still play D2 :geek:

In contrast, Anivia's two-shot combo with her LB auto, and dropping her AOE for even just one hit, at 1000AP, is ~4200. This is going to happen all the time in games. This burns no long cooldowns (like 8 seconds on the longest one), is much easier to pull of, and can and will happen many times in a given game. Plus, after the first hit it's guaranteed.
Lich Bane is amazing on Anivia because she has one of the longest auto-attack ranges in the game, and nearly always fires one automatically during her normal spell rotation. It's a free 800-1k damage guaranteed hit.
Anivia's skillshot may be slower than most, but at medium range with it's wide path, a good Anivia will nearly always hit it. The blast radius is quite large. Plus, she fires into crowds during teamfights, and the stun is AOE. She can then choose a target and deal incredible burst damage, renewable in 8 seconds or less.
PLUS, she's got a wall and an infinite-duration AOE damage/slow along with her stun, making her great at crowd control. Brand has pretty much zero CC.
Anivia >>>>>>> Brand.

On the topic at hand, I picked Desert and Forest, but I'm down for anything that looks cool. Definitely tend to prefer outdoor to indoor though.

On top of this, if you grab lich bane, the autoattack you can throw into this combo adds another ~900 damage, for a 3.4k burst. Even with 100MR that will kill many squishies.
Brand is not capable of a 3.4k rotation that I've seen lol.
And then on top of that Anivia's got her awesome slow DOT AOE and super cool wall  Such a great champ.
Edit: Also, you thought Lee Sin is OP? He seemed pretty weak to me, I was sad I bought him D: Not like Nocturne, the rape-ghost of the jungle <3

Then we went into hell mode and died a bunch anyways :whistling:
Still got a bunch of mules full of crap from that play through, can only use 'em in singleplayer or direct IP connect lol.

You gotta remember that they were building Bnet2.0 at the time that this happened, which was the main reason for SC2's delay. They probably WERE ready to release the beta then, but Bnet was not, so they put it on hold. The SC2 beta was remarkably polished for this reason, they had basically 8 extra months of internal testing.

I play tons o' league, big on Nocturne, Anivia, Shen, Malphite, Malzahar, bunch of others.
Also on the Brand debate, I think the reason people think he's OP is that he's kinda new and people are already doing cool things with him. For my money I think it's just 'cause people tend to understand how to use strong AP carries like him so he's easy to pick up and use well early. In comparison Anivia (whom I <3) is capable of a much higher damage output but has been around long enough that people are used to her, and know her weaknesses.
League is quite well balanced IMO, there are no straight up garbage champions that aren't at least decent in practiced hands, and very few that are un-debatably more powerful than the rest.

I seriously doubt we won't at least hear an estimate as to when the beta is coming in the conference call regardless of when it comes out. They specifically said it would come up next time, and what else could they say about it?
My guess is the facebook likes will reveal something artsy, perhaps a new design for the Barbarian--since they mentioned they might change his lore away from being the same Barb from the last game.

If you can look at the environments in Diablo 3 and not be speechless, you are clearly blind. The outdoor environments look like masterwork paintings...
Maybe it's because I'm an artist, but I've never understood the complaints against the art style. Everything from the color pallets to the textures to the geometry is gorgeous. It's lower-poly than a lot of other games, but higher polygon count != better looking necessarily, it means potential for more detail.
Also, it's easy to knock Blizzard for choosing to optimize their games for lower end PCs, because apparently it's some kind of insult to the "hardcore" crowd* (oops, your two thousand dollar gaming comp isn't necessary :whistling: ), but without that consideration their games wouldn't be nearly as widespread. A lot of people can't afford that kind of PC.
*While I find this term silly, I too have a big fancy computer <3

Yes, but they don't tend to re-do cinematics
True fact.
That's pretty hardcore.

Not yet :whistling:
Also, yeah, I think it would be an interesting choice, making the villain female, if only because it's so uncommon. I mean, technically it would still be Diablo, a big genderless evil dude--but it's sorta taken for granted that he will take on a masculine physical form when, logically, there's not real reason for him to

Still circumstantial evidence, but I'll take what I can get
Edit: Also, I was rereading your post about Nephalem potential Phrozen, and I thought I'd mention again there seems to be evidence that Leah is in some way gifted. We see in the trailer that she seems to have a vision about the future meteor impact. So while a typical Nephalem might only be powerful in comparison to a demon grunt, she might in fact be on a much higher level, like Bul Kathos or Rathma.
Even MORE ridiculously speculative, admittedly, but clearly she's no ordinary woman.
