For the record, I wasn't referring to the scenery or gameplay. D3's dungeons and scenery are very impressive, I just strongly dislike the way the characters and enemies are modeled.
Compare ANY monster from d3 to any monster in d2 and tell me you don't see a striking difference.. Even down to the simple zombie. In d2, they looked like rotting flesh. In d3, we have blue humanoid things that, quite frankly, look stupid.
If you need any more examples, fire up d2 and go run through the durance of hate real quick. I need pits of blood with mutilated corpses piled up in them, dismembered bodies all over the place, bodies on fire, etc., and then monsters that actually look capable of doing this. I'm sorry, but I haven't seen anything in d3 that comes close to conveying that sense of evil. They all look like dumb fucking WoW creatures; like, let's go slay some murlocs dudes! It's gonna RULE!
I'm not going to pass judgment until I've actually played the finished game, because stylistically I'm sure things will still change. But it does feel like kind of a "fuck you" to the VERY loyal fanbase that has amassed around this franchise over the last 15 years.. It's like they changed (almost) everything I loved about these games instead of taking what has already proven to work very well and expanding on it. Actually, no, it's even worse.. It feels like they took my favorite game ever and merged it with something so incomprehensibly lame that it literally makes me want to cry.

This development team was able to create a 3d hack & slash rpg without making it look cartoony and cheesy.. The characters look like genuine badasses who can actually slay monsters, and the monsters actually look intimidating. This is exactly what I imagine when I think of Diablo 3 in my head, moreso than the Diablo 3 I know will be coming out.
This will probably get locked, but as someone who has been playing the diablo series since 1996 (I'm 21 now btw, so I've been playing this franchise for most of my life), I feel very let down in the fact that the new installment of the series seems to have been somewhat "commercialized", by making it look much more juvenile and watered down than the previous two.
I mean just look at this company's 3d models vs. blizzard's for d3. The fallen shaman is a shining example of this, he looks like a little bitch.. Like a damn cartoon, or a joke or something. Why can't the development team just make it dark, badass, gory, scary, dreary, and geared towards a MATURE audience? It can obviously be done, and now that I've seen it..
Son, I am disappoint. =/
