I think overall they have made the right decisions on the way to go with DIII and this interview sheds some light on their reasoning. I'm a bit of an optimist but it would take some effort for these guys to come out with something that I would utterly despise. They have a challenge to keep me playing DIII as long as I have DII, but if anyone is up to the task it's them.

I think having the random quests and what not setup the way they do may actually allow them to release content updates easier. They could literally focus on creating random content "tiles" and drop them into the available pool. Granted this is speculation, but I could see something like that happening easier. At worst, it will keep people like me interested for a long time.

Ultimately i'm super-happy about them sticking with the isometric view and despite the long, somewhat loosened, debates about how the game looks; I think it looks amazing. I can't stop drooling over some of the environments we see in the various movies and screens.

Just as a side note regarding the quests: Diablo isn't really known for having quest failures. I'm sure it's something they could, and may have, implemented. But quests in the Diablo games have always been a matter of do until complete or die trying. I'm not sure how a quest failure (like an NPC dying) would fit into the ARPG model anyhow - but I suppose we will see.

    posted a message on Pseudo-Randomization
Being a generally unlucky fellow I'm still all for a true random loot generator. Because while I may go weeks without seeing something I need, I have been known to get 5 awesome things back to back.

It's probably one of the things that makes Diablo II so addicting, actually, because it's like a form of gambling. Instead of money, however, you're trading minutes of life to have a chance at gaining fake, digital items. hmmm...

I digress. True random is the way to go and Diablo wouldn't be Diablo without it.

I'm partial to some of the more "exaggerated" martial arts films. It's these kind of movies that make me think of fantasy monks (D&D & Diablo mostly).

I'm talking about movies like: Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Kung Fu Hustle - you know the "exaggerated" ones. :)

    *Sigh*

Getting on this thread probably ruined my day. I remember when I was like... 16 wasting away in front of Diablo 2 like a crack addict - all those years ago. It really was something new back then and i've yet to find anything comparable. And believe me that is * a ton * of different games. I'm turning 26 in October.

This thread got me thinking about how much Diablo has actually been apart of my life, though, and it's really funny. I remember my uncle showing me Diablo when it first came out and I ran out and rented it for the playstation. Me and a buddy of mine couldn't peel our faces off the TV, until I realized it was on the PC and I could play multi player. Then, a few years later Diablo II. I literally didn't sleep for some days farming that game to hell. That was back when SOJ rings were traded like high runes are now. Oh, and yes, I *still* play D2 periodically.

Anyway it's been a nice little blast from the past guys, now I have to get back to work. :P

Part that makes it hardest to believe is the ending.
How can you justify an expansion when your main character is dead?

Oh, you mean like in Diablo II when we had to fight Baal at the end of the expansion instead of Diablo? There are plenty of other evils out there to fight beyond Diablo, as we have seen so they have a lot of flexibility. :P

But, this is clearly BS. I think most of the points above cover the various reasons why but, to me, the article just tries a little to hard to sound legit to be.
