Who could have guessed? The Jeweler preview is followed by the Mystic preview!
Disclaimer: This is NOT an official preview, this is mostly the result of datamining and it might not reflect what will be in the final game
Now that the disclaimer is behind us and that you had a chance to look at the screenshots, here's to expect from her:
- Just like any artisan, the Mystic is found in town and can be upgraded to unlock more recipes, she offers 3 different services:
- She will Enhance your items and increase their stats.
- She will identify any item for you (assuming you're willing to pay), she even has an option to identify all the items in your bags!
- Not available in beta yet, but it was mentioned multiple times that she will be linked to Runestones as well. This is partially confirmed by crafting recipes on the official site.
The list of Mystic Formulae has been on the official site and around the web for a while now, but so far not a lot of people bothered to post the stats of the actual enchantments and I compiled a nice list.
- These stats are from the beta game files, where the Mystic isn't even officially implemented yet. They're very much not final.
- Some recipes don't even have stats yet, that's the case with the elemental weapon enhancements for example. I probably missed a few of those, feel free to yell at me in comments.

Only the Blacksmith is available in the beta but it doesn't mean we can't gather information through other means. Today I'll try to give you a small preview of what to expect from your friend the Jeweler! But before we start, the obvious and annoying disclaimer to cover my ass.
Disclaimer: This is NOT an official preview, this is mostly the result of datamining and it might not reflect what will be in the final game
The Jeweler is upgradable and can be found in town, just like the Blacksmith on the beta. He offers 3 different types of services:
- He will combine 3 identical gems to create a new higher quality gem.
- He will remove gems from an item, returning both the item and gems to you intact.
- He can also add a socket to an item.
The average amount of sockets on a high level item is around 2-3 depending on the item type but a couple of helms, shields, or weapons seem to have up to 4 possible sockets according to the game files.
Also, a lot of gems are already in the game files and it seems to be a good time to list them

A couple of dedicated players come up with new way to push the limits on the beta and end up making pretty impressive videos. Trainman is one of those people and posted on the forums a video of his monk literally one shooting the skeleton king in the beta!
This is of course not representative of the game balance and it's the combined efforts of multiple people who worked to get the best gear for that character, but it's still pretty impressive.
Happy Holiday from the Community Team!
Official Blizzard Quote:
The Community team will have a reduced presence on the forums, Twitter and Facebook for the holiday while we take a seat at the Pilgrim’s Bounty table with friends and loved ones, but we’ll be back refreshed (and well fed) next week. In the meantime, whether in Sanctuary, Azeroth, Mar Sara or beyond, we hope that you and yours have a chance to share the warmth of the season… and some delicious feast treats, if that’s your thing.
Remember that Greatfather Winter and the Mod Squad are still watching though, so be sure to stay on your best behavior. See you next week!
Blizzard's Looking for Interns

I loved how this image turned out so with the help of CS3 I used some tools and made the image a larger size. I had this 800x800 image on my desktop background and realized how awesome it was as a wallpaper.
So I figured it has been a couple years since I made a thank you wallpaper. So this one is for the fans of my wallpapers. Thanks for the comments, support and help over the past 3 years. I really could not have done it without you guys.
Here's to many more years after the games release for wallpapers, art and fan fiction!

Not to be confused as a "Diablo IV" just the 4th fiery runes diablo piece. This piece was edited from the d3 box art given to us from the blizzcon 2011 press kit. I had to painstakingly paint out the flaming 3 bars from the bottom part of the Diablo III logo on the to of our dear friends forehead. Then i flipped when i got enough from one site tweaked some cloning to make it match.
Thus the final result you see before you. Hope you like. I will be making two more wallpapers over the next few days. One more FRS related and another just as a wallpaper.

Boubouille posted a message on Updated Waypoints List, Beta Invites, Blue PostsUpdated Waypoints List - Now with Zone Names!Posted in: News & Announcements
The waypoints list I posted a few days ago has been updated and now includes the name of all the zones!
- I tried to sort them by Act but I might have missed a few things left and right, feel free to point out errors in comments.
- It's a list of all the waypoints, not a list of all the zones. Don't try to compare zone sizes based on the amount of waypoints you see in that picture, they are most likely not all implemented.
- Oh, yeah, SPOILER ALERT!
More Diablo 3 Beta Invites!
There have been multiple reports that a new wave of beta invites have gone out for those who applied via the Diablo Beta Facebook Initiative. Here's a quick history of the beta timeline (latest to oldest):

- November 14th: Facebook Beta Wave Number 3
- November 9th: Facebook Beta Wave Number 2
- November 2nd: Facebook Beta Wave Number 1
- September 20th: First official Press invites
- September 7th: Beta goes live to Friends and Family

Blizzard and Innovation
No disrespect to my comrades, but what was the last Blizzard game or feature you'd call innovative?
Personally I'm not sure I can think of any except the currency based auction house and runestone system, and those are both in the game you're criticizing.
In my opinion we make awesome, polished, accessible games that are fun for a huge spectrum of people, but when I think of the word innovative our games don't jump to mind. We make iterations and polish on what are fairly well understood systems and ideas, and that process has created our games and our company.
I realize I'm jumping on one little part of your post, but you ended it with a conspiracy theory Activision|Blizzard boogie-man jab so I think I'm afforded the ability to ignore the rest of it. (Source - Blue Tracker)
Spell/Abilities damage on tooltips
The tooltip on the weapon is a range of damage. That damage is then increased by your Attack stat and any other modifiers equipped to your character. All of the combat math should be in your Character sheet (Hotkey: C). (Source - Blue Tracker)
Gold and Artisans account-bound
Gold and artisans (such as the Blacksmith) are account-bound in Diablo III. This is why you found them on your new playthrough. (Source - Blue Tracker)
Buffs on both players and followers
It is currently intended that all buffs in the game, including shrines, buff both the player's character and follower. (Source - Blue Tracker)
Updated Launcher
This is a brand new change to the Launcher. If there is nothing to patch, it will go straight to the game. If there is ever a new patch, the Launcher will then appear and let you choose to download fully or play when data is available (stream).
Feel free to post some feedback about this new change in the Beta Feedback section. (Source - Blue Tracker)

Boubouille posted a message on Diablo 3 User Interface Datamining - Bosses and WaypointsThe new trend on forums is to go through the use interface files to find fun new information, I gave it a try and came back with a bunch of fairly useless and spoilery pictures.Posted in: News & Announcements
BossWindow Artwork
This picture is a compilation of all the artwork used during co-op games when a boss even is about to be started (The 1 minute confirmation/teleport timer you get before the skeleton king, for those of you who tried it in beta). As far as I know, this picture contains artworks of all the bosses of the game and is a pretty huge spoiler, click at your own risks.
Battle.net Profile Boss Icons
Same as above, the new player profiles have extra assets to display the progression of the player, including a nice portrait of each end boss with different color for the eyes depending on the max difficulty you reached.
Waypoints List
For those of you who want to hurt their eyes, most of the pictures for the waypoints are also available in the game files and could give you an idea of what the zones of the game will be. These pictures most likely include all the Acts of the game, once again, spoiler.
Monsters and NPC Portraits
The game files also have character portraits, those are already known to the public and were posted on forums a while back but I'm re-adding them for completion sake.

I for one appreciate the "highlight everything" approach. It used to be that I'd visit the site once every few days, see the same front page post, and that was the end of my visit. Forums tend to be a mixed bag on most internet sites, this one included, so I rarely visit them (though I clearly have today!). It's nice to have something fresh on the front page as often as possible- it makes the site seem like an up-to-the-minute news source rather than a mostly static lump of text.Quote from Sixen
I dunno, him and I just have a different theory of what deserves to be spotlighted. It appears to me that he sees anything and everything as being frontpage-worthy (the classic Flux-style!) whereas I didn't like that approach. To me, anything and everything is what belongs in our forums, the frontpage should only be used for important/big announcements and editorials... Just a different style is all, not that either one of us is "right" or "wrong," ;).

Boubouille posted a message on Diablo 3 Beta Patch 6 Screenshots, Monster AffixesDiablo 3 Beta Patch 6 - ScreenshotsPosted in: News & Announcements
The latest patch is finally available on beta servers and players can now go through all the new changes, below is a couple of screenshots of some of the new stuff you can find there.
Monster Affixes
Official Blizzard Quote:
We mentioned at BlizzCon that we’re trying to get more monster affixes into the game. We are. Part of the process is trying out some ideas, and some of those ideas don’t make it. Another part of the process is figuring out what's actually available in the beta and not patch noting the stuff that isn't.
"Die Together" was an experimental idea we were playing around with for Champion packs. It would randomly set up the Champion pack so that when you had dealt lethal damage to any of them, they would go into an invulnerable “dead state". If after 10 seconds you had not killed all of them, they would start to resurrect.
This had a number of issues. The simplest reason is that we simply feel like the mechanic was too complicated. Furthermore, not every monster in our game has a notion of a “dead state". Some of our monsters gib into bits, or puff in flames, or explode, etc. As a result, there wasn’t a universal way to visually communicate to players that a monster was “thinking about dying”.
We also found that arbitrarily putting a mechanic such as this on any monster didn’t work with many monster AIs. It was pretty much impossible to kill 3 Skeletal Summoners, for example, within 5 seconds of each other because Skeletal Summoners have an AI that causes them to continuously back away from the player. When you had 3 of them, they’d start running in opposite directions, it simply wasn’t fair. Or take the Carrion Bats that can fly to places the player can’t get to, you might get all the Carrion Bats down to 5% health and as you’re getting ready to deal the killing blows one of them flies off.
At the end of the day it seemed the “Die Together” affix is not appropriate to randomly appear on just any monster, it really needs to be something more like a monster mechanic that it's designed to work well with it.
So we're really working to add more, and in fact if you guys have any ideas for monster affixes we'd be glad to hear them.
Just keep in mind, as illustrated above, monster affixes have a few design challenges. We try to keep these core ideas in mind when designing them:
- Ideally they create new gameplay for the player. The point of affixes is to change up how the player is playing and make them adapt to some kind of new situation that the affix mechanics present.
- They need to work for a wide variety of monsters, in a wide variety of environments.
- We try to make them easy for players to understand. A design buzzword we use internally is "affordance". A monster affix with good affordance is intuitive to understand. The visual, the concept, and the name all communicate clearly what the mechanic is.

Hello there!
Some of you might remember me from a couple of years ago when I was very active prior to the release of D3 on this forum. With the announcement of D4 and the approaching release of D2R, I've decided to dip my toes into streaming and eventually into more complex Diablo content creation. Right now, I'm taking it slowly, trying to lay down some ground work how to do stuff and work around my full-time job schedule. I hope I catch some of the familiar faces here joining the stream for a chat, it can get very lonely for a new twitch streamer at times

Also, all my posts/replies are gone I had around 2K

First of all, I didn't think I would ever be doing threads like these anymore, but I just couldn't help myself. The announcement revived all habits in me.
I will if I could to a small sum up of the interviews.
