    thats it for melee?
all this talk about the wizard is going to be able to melee, two things? mastery, and magic weapon?

no conjuring down lightning to your weapon, with a lightning strike?, no heated sword, melt armor strike? no speed up time around my weapon, and make it attack really fast buff? no enlarge weapon spell, to make a really big, but light weight claymore ?
lame, Blizzard is so uncreative some times :P

Certainly they must realize the money involved, im sure im one of many that will go out and repurchase Diablo 2 if they fix everything, thats some quick cash right there.

I know how looking at clunky old code can be, I make flash games, I know thats not quite the same thing but,
I also know that changing some numbers in a skill isnt that hard once you take a gander at your old clunky code,
to make a skill damage of 2 + 5% per level you just delete the 2, and the 5, and put what you want,
ok maybe not quite that simple but comon? stick a few devs on the project, they will do it.

We deserve a game that isnt screwed up. Diablo 3 wouldnt be the current project if it wasnt for all of the Diablo 2 fans

Like I said, its not like they would be doing it just to shut people up about the imbalance, there is decent quick cash involved, Il buy D2, and expac all over again if they fix D2. ^.^
    Who's with me!?

Magic Arrow doesn't do a lot of damage due to having no mana cost later in the skill development.

LOL that makes it balanced? a skill doing little damage ,but having no mana cost doesnt make it a balanced skill, it makes it a useless one, up the damage, so up the mana cost, or please make it do SOMETHING, blind, knock back, stun, lower % life, like static field?, confuse target, whatever, and just give it bigger mana cost.
I think the original point of the skill was to shoot without arrows, which is fine and well at level 2 when your a noob, and you run out of arrows in cold field, but its not that hard to stock up when you have 50,000 gold to your name. The skill needs to do other things.

Skills that are just a stepping stone to another one = unbalanced, especially when you can pump 20 points into it, is that just to mess with noobs? level 20 amazon, pumped all skills into magic arrow, only then to realize he needs to start over, is that really the point? ( not that this happened to me, I am not that lame :P )

P.S. when your using dagger, is it really worth it ? i mean when you can be casting other spells, does it really compare? I ask because like I said, its been years since I tried dagger necro

Wow sorry i made this thread :P

but since were talking about Hardcore characters here is another thought,
What is the worst thing that can happen to your hardcore character?
    LAG DEATH!
the most clever player, with the mightiest character, with the best gear doesnt stand a chance against a good old fashioned lag spike at the wrong time, and not to mention the LAMEST way to die EVER!.

Is there any way around this? can the server detect when it lags, and not rape your character unjustly?
your basically gambling with real money in a rigged game when you are killed by lag.

blowing everything up around me in one shot, ON HARD DIFFICULTY

I'm sorry, but that's just a complete lie.

no lie, from levels 2 - 10, on Very Hard difficulty. BOOM everything around me dead, maybe the big ogre things took a few more shots, but thats it.
There is nothing wrong with going BOOM dead, but you can spam the spell pretty easily,
( of course since everything is dead, you wont need to)

and I did try the other spells out, with multiple points each, no comparison, sorry the games not balanced.
I guess the ice spell has its perks with freeze, but thats about it.

Il sum the entire game up for you
    it sucks

It has terrible skill balancing, there is only one spell you need with the alchemist, I pretty much just used the same skill from level 2 - 10( which is slightly slower level up than diablo), blowing everything up around me in one shot, ON HARD DIFFICULTY, and the other spells are pretty much useless in comparison.
It has lame diablo1 wannabe, put you to sleep acoustic guitar music.

Its hard as hell to tell what your looking at, if despite what I say you still play it, set it to notebook mode.
All of the dungeons are the same, and slow moving, there is a place where you can buy dungeon scrolls, for a 1 time deal,
I use one, it actually takes me to a place that looks cool, what happens? a monster appears right on top of me, in trying to click to attack it I clicked the stairs up thing, and left, that was it, I saw 2 seconds of a level that actually looked decent, once you use one of these scrolls and come back, you never see that dungeon again.

there is ONE good thing I can say about the entire game, and that is when you blast monsters, you can actually knock them off of ledges and stuff, thats the only redeeming feature, I am in fact downloading RS as we speak, I tried it a while back, seemed ok, level up was kind of slow after level 6 but i think it beats stupid Torchlight

oh, and there is a chic who uses guns, how lame is that? I didnt try her, but meh.

PS I know I was rather harsh just now, but if they fix the skill balancing, then it redeems it self, but I dont see that happening.

I don't really see a harm in it being implemented, but it's a kinda redundant feature. Can't really think of a good reason anyone would want to use it, except for chickening out. And I have to wonder if those people won't regret having switched afterwards.

those are two good reasons not to actually, you might regret it since in the irony of it all, permanently switching your character to softcore at level 70 is a real hardcore decision :P

and you are probably right, by the time people got to 30 they would start chickening out :P

    Think il start off with

    Magic Arrow:
Problems: sucks, what was its max damage at level 20? ........... was it 20?
, sure it cant be more powerful than any other skills that require arrows, but it could at least have some tactical bonus.

    Solution:
Give it some kind of tactical bonuses, stun, knock back, weaken monster, that can increase per level,
AND, OR, maybe it could do serious damage, but at a SEVERE mana cost, or perhaps life cost?

I dont think any one mentioned this one, but I looked through this thread pretty quick :P

Bone Teeth: now this was a disapointing skill, especially when someone told me to pump points in it on my first necromancer only to end up doing what? 6 damage per bone teeth at level 30 or something? plus it doesnt work as pimp as the sorcs Electric equal, that could have multiple hits on single targets.
I dont think anyone has ever seen a necro clearing a cow level with bone teeth.

Solution: Again some kind of tactical ability, Stun, slow, or something like that,
AND, OR have great damage at higher levels, but with a HUGE mana cost
or it could give some kind of bonuses to summons, like a paladins holy bolt on other players.

wow my solutions are the same for everything arent they? ^.^

    How about
Poison Dagger ? has anyone ever made a successful poison dagger necro?
I mean its single target, and you have to get in close to use it, plus you have to have good dex to hit stuff,
I dont think this was ever as useful as any of the necros other poison, or bone attack spells.
Been a while since I looked at the stats on this, so maybe someone else can take a whack at it?

same goes for throwing barbs, but again, I was never actually foolish enough to try one of those :P

Sword and shield barbarians are lame Pu@#$$ies, everyone knows the Big two handed weapons, or duel wield is where the bada$$ is at ^.^

as for expansions, youd be a fool to think they wont eventually make an Expac for D3, you do know Blizzard right?
I was going to suggest a Transmuter type character until people started talking about archetypes
    ,
basically a warrior that can manipulate steel, ie make his weapon longer, make enemies armor heavier slowing them down.
I dont care what bashiok said, I want to see at least 1 original non cookie cutout character, at least when expac comes. Anyway dont know where that came from, its an idea ive had for a character for a long time ^.^

I was going to post this in the hardcore section of incgamer diablo forum but the register thing is really #@$@$ing retarded on there, at least to me.

Make it so hardcore characters can choose to switch to softcore mode, one time deal of course, their character will then be dead to the hardcore world.

What if your level 70 char, you find yourself with a good build, and elite items, maybe even better items your softcore characters have, and you realise, damn, I dont want to loose this guy, switch it over, and voila, you dont have to feel down because your elite char died :P

not that I personally am worried about this, none of my hardcore characters ever made it past level 37 :P
but it seems like a good idea.

    Quote from Ivaron

Actually I'm thinking once we get to play the game all of this stuff we see flying over the screen in gameplay videos now that we can't really make sense of we will then recognise as certain skills. It's like people that can't read only see a bunch of characters all over the place, but once you learn the words you only see those, you don't really notice the characters anymore. That's why I don't think the skill effects will be as messy as we think they'll be.

Thank you Ivaron very good point, just because you people cant make out what all the flashy colors on the screen are doing, is kind of dumb, you just cant make it out because lets face it your all NOOBS, Diablo 3 noobs :P

skill effects being too flashy is honestly the lamest reason ive heard to cap it at 4

but again 5! please! atleast bump it to 5 LOL :P

5 ? up it to at least 5, 4 just seems so shabby, and if the game mechanics are so different why revert to a diablo 1 party of 4 limit system? :P
I heard someone say odd numbers are better anyway, and it will have 5 char classes, it should at least be 5 ^.^

Eru, what other things about diablo3 dont you like? I actually kind of like the direction they took it in in most aspects, the 4 party limit thing was the first thing I really didnt like, but I probably dont know everything about D3

all we can do is pray they dont limit it to 4. get your best Ward off party limit 4 prayer aura going ^.^

hmm drop down menus? gotta take a test to enter a game?
i suppose it would make sure people there are going after what your going after, but also if there are 7 players in a game, its easier to find someone to group with.
but what about PVP ? limited to two vs two? no major clan wars? im sure alot of people wont like that, not as much of a deal, but still, im seeing more reasons to have a bigger party size.
