Be logic, who was first? Diablo franchise and WoW? Or Torchlight.

There you will find your obvious answer.

Obviously diablo came before torchlight, however, all the features I listed will only appear in D3 as they weren't in D1 or D2(as far as I know).. So what came first, torchlight's development or D3's announcments? I dunno, that's why I'm asking. :P

The screen shaking everytime somethings happens is also getting old quick.

I thought the same thing until I played torchlight, which has the same effect, and oddly enough it made attacking things more fun.. I never got bored of it.

posted a message on So lately I've been playing through torchlight..
Which is alot of fun I might add, but I've noticed alot of things.(I never followed torchlights development.. I don't even know when it was started).. but did torchlight copy D3 or is D3 copying torchlight? There is alot of things, such as the screen shake when you attack monsters.(Which is pretty boss btw), the new hotbar/tab switching between 2 spells on your right click.. Auto pickup gold and hell, even some enviroment effects(If you hit a monster next to a cliff, they will get shot off the side and break things)

The levels also look familiar to the very first D3 video we saw of the barbarian, among many other things I probably never noticed.(Enchantments?)

    So, anyone know the story?

posted a message on DiabloIII and SC2 release dates? LOL
    Quote from "Dauroth" »
My guess for the release date (of Diablo III, of course) would be June 29 2011! It's the same date when Diablo II and its Expansion were released, so why not!

It's also the same date D3 was announced.

I find it halarious that they believe that D3 is coming out in 2011, lol, I will be happy with 2012, unfortunately, knowing Blizzard...

100% of blizzards games were released 3 years or under from when they were announced.

WoW announced in 2001, released in 2004.
SC2 announced in 2007, released later this summer(2010)

And that applies to all their older games as well.

D3 was announced 2008, I don't see the trend changing.

posted a message on The uses of Gold.
Gold seems to still be very abundant. Sometimes dropping 300-600 pieces of Gold per kill, even more from bosses.

The havn't balanced yet, most of the items in the game currently are just items to play with, think of them as test items.

They threw in a random amount of gold drops in the game, they will tone it down once they near the end of development.

    posted a message on Here's a thought about economy/mercenaries.
Jay Wilson once said in a interview in answer to something like this and I agree with him

(These arn't the exact words, just basically what he said- in my head)"Everyone likes to be challenged, but the thing is, challenging and hard are seperate things. Being challenged is how you interpret it and hard is simply cranking up boss hp/how hard they hit"

Going off of that summarized-ish version of what he said, I'm going to bet that it won't be actually hard(I.E. no double immunes or retarded 1 shot kill bosses to have a cheap way of being hard) and make it feel challenging.. How they do that, we will see.

posted a message on is D3 becoming less like Diablo?
    Here is what I think:
trading - Wait what? It's still there and in better shape then ever, BoE helps the trade system and there will be an Auction house which will make trading easier then ever. Not to mention we will have gold as a real currency, not some noob currency making lots of people use a 3rd party site for 'gold'.

Trading is better in D3.(P.S. Forced socializing for trades is not fun, especially when you have to be on at the same time and meet them in person, then bargain, and alot of times people just left without saying they liked it or not. )

attribute modifying - There still is attribute modifying, through other means. gear is the best example, skills and other systems they havn't told us yet, but confirm exist say this as well. Also 99% of builds was "enough str for gear, rest in vit" so.. no point anyways.

equip most items on any class - Weapons were nerfed and shields for monks, but otherwise buffed due to the auto-stats.(See the new announcement) I can see this, but it also makes the classes more unique. You have your advantages and disadvantages.

potions - They are still there, but on a cd.. They are necessary in D1 and D2, but they don't have to be in D3. That's a moot point.

weapon switching - I agree, I liked that.

quests given by NPCs - ?? I don't understand this one, it's better in D3 in every way possible.

chat channels - Nerfed probably, but we don't know yet. THey have been confirmed for Bnet 2.0, they arn't gone.

traps - Yet to be seen, we don't know all the classes or expansions. If you're talking traps like arrows shooting out of walls etc, they are still there.

full 8 player parties - Games were rarely 8 players unless you count baal runs, besides did you see the gameplay videos of D3? It would be ridiculous with 8 players.

necromancer and his LARGE army, or just cool summons - WD has 7 summons(Possibly more) that we know of and resemble the necromancer alot with his curses(but better) and poisons. The necromancer was one of my favorites too though.

shapeshifter class - We don't know that yet.

modding support - The past games didn't support it either, but they did it anyways. just like it will happen for D3.

skill tree (changed?) - Like jake said, for the better. Synergies suck and most of our skills we got in D2, we never used.

gambling (?) - Yet to be seen.

online content in single player (?) - Yet to be seen, but since there is no ladder/NL, I don't think that will be an issue.

pvp (?) - There will be pvp and they said it's a bigger focus this time around, so I'm assuming it will be better, but yet to be seen.

gold/currency (?) - They want gold as a main currency and they have many many systems to make it valuable to the player.

posted a message on Blizzard and its resources devoted to D3
    Quote from "SFJake" »
Realistically speaking, teams -would- move to other games when theirs is over.

But SC2 and WoW are not over by far. SC2 has 2 expansions after that, which is at least 2 years in production. And WoW, well... I really am asking myself when this game will come to an end. The more they move forward the less I actually want to be part of it, hey can't I just experience things in order? No, now people will start in a destroyed Azeroth.

Heh. Sorry I never miss an opportunity to throw some whining.

My point being, no teams right now, D3 included, is going to move much because there is much to do. Bigger teams also don't suddenly make miracles.

So anyway. I'm pretty sure Blizzard has their -resources- are used at their best for all games, there are no benefits from just putting everyone away from D3. This isn't Valve and their extremely limited teams which needs to move around a lot and delay Half-Life Episode 3 for years because of other projects.

Hmmm... 2 random whining in one post, this is getting bad.

Wasn't SC2 delayed becuase they needed some devs to go help out WoW?

posted a message on Melee or Caster?? Which are you?
    Quote from "Ygdrazill" »
Caster, 100% caster. I think it took me 3 years of playing D2 until I truely played a melee character f :S Ive been trying to figure out why but honestly i dont really know. I guess I like the dukeing, keeping people at bay and just avoiding dmg as much as I can. When I started playing Hc a few years ago it solidified even more, the sorc, druid and necro is still first pick.
Haha its wierd, I dont even pick ama if I can help it so its got to have something to so with spells and magic.
Even in other games it allways been caster. Mage in wow, sorc in Aion, mage (mabey its called something els, cant remember) in Tibia etc.
Guess its gonna be wiz for D3, or the doctor.

Dunno if this has been discussed allready but do you think it sais something about the persons personality?

I don't think they will announce a release date at all, just a guess.

Look at SC2, still no 'release date', just a "we hope it will be out by mid-summer".
