posted a message on Armor should be able to deteriorate if durability goes down
The Bind on Equip is a method I do not like. I think items should break if used. To me it offers more options such as skills to repair items on the field, or maybe create short term items for a few battles. Some of the things I am seeing in D3 seems to be making the game too easy just like D2 was a lot easier than D1. I am still holding of of making my last judgment on it.

I did not like the easiness of D2 that is why I went to the mods that for the most part made it more difficult.

And besides I feel they should get rid of the Unique items and Sets. The only truly unique items were rares/crafts. Maybe a few unique items as part of quests.

I do not think that my method would remove the point for getting the best gear. That can be controlled on the drop rate the team decides on. There can be many means to get the gear needed to survive. In my playing time online I never had any elite gear and I managed to beat Hell with all characters. A few characters managed to do it with junk items.

I will say that you have your opinion and I have mine. Hopefully they will come up with something that the both of us will like.

I think the opposite would happen. You would need to constantly look for new items. I believe a good portion of the items for trade right now are likely duped and as soon as you have your end gear you just keep them and transfer to new characters. The only time it changes is when the ladder is reset. The longer the season the more items enter the market and the values drop. With items losing durability and eventually not being able to be repaired that will mean that the supply of items will never get to high. and since the item will only last for so long the price will not be very high.

I have never traded in my history of playing Diablo and likely never will. I believe in getting the stuff on my own. I have given stuff away. My time on Battlenet was only for a couple of years and I mostly played alone since I liked the challenge it offered when there was 6 or more players and taking on Diablo or Baal by myself with a non cookie cutter build or at least it was until it got boosted in 1.10.

I think durability should be in the game but limits on the repair. Every time you repair the item it lose 1 max durability. There should be no Indestructible. Ethereal items should be fine. This way items will have a shelf life. Rings and amulets and charms(if used) will also have it but it should be based on time. Quests could be added that repaired the durability of the item to the normal max or maybe even increase what the max durability is.

I know many players will not like it since what are you going to do when your best weapon or armor breaks. You bring a spare or live of the land.

It would be cool to have the effects but I am more concerned about the core of the items. The Eye Candy can be added at the last minute. That feature may be annoying if it is too much. It may also cause a lot of extra work on the D3 engine and the game servers to calculate everything smoothly

I forgot to add that a new skill or trade can used the Blacksmith skill.

posted a message on Diablo 3 death mechanic (imo)
I do not think a warning is needed since if you are playing softcore you did not really loose anything, maybe some gold and XP. If Hardcore is in D3 than you should be paying close attention and be learning from your first character and should expect deaths. Quite often you learn more from your failures than your victories.

As for resurrections it will not mean much to me since I will likely be playing HC. We will have to see what the developing team will do with it.

I do not know how effective that would be as a penalty. I can see the loss of gold or experience but anything more will likely mean the players will just quit and exit. Most players do not want to play at a disadvantage so they would chicken out. I remember hearing that the team does not want that to happen but they want the games to be moving swiftly and active.

I think the Checkpoints will be used if there is any lag or syncing issues as well as deaths. It will depend on how far apart the check points are.

I think they will have Way points so it will make it easier to continue on the journey you left off.

posted a message on is 5 really enough?
The more characters we have means more work goes into the skill design. There is only so much skills you can create without making the skills seam to be repetitive. Even with the 5 classes there is likely going to be some skills that are going to be repetitive.

There are going to be many builds but likely only one power build because as soon as one person makes a guide and states this is the build of all builds then a large segment of the community will only make that build and say to anyone else who plays differently a noob. Then Blizzard will see this and makes changes then the next Build will be considered the build of all builds.

posted a message on Change the way the character moves in D3?
I would like to have the camera angles the same as in the previous 2 Diablo titles since all the other D2 clones that had multi angle had poor controls. The angle would change and you loose a moment on getting your barrings on the action. The current angles make it easier to manage high action. I do not think a First person view will work as well as the current camera angle.

It might be easier to make a button that you touch on the screen at the same time you touch the monster.

I see it have a better chance of porting to the PSP due to the fact Diablo was already on the PS1.

I say that as the earliest I am leaning more for 2013. They may try for the December 21st due to the end of the world prediction but I have a feeling they will encounter delays.

posted a message on Are skill trees back?
In my opinion if you have more than one skill and they are all not available at the same level and time it is a skill tree. Changing the name will not change the fact that it is a tree. What is important is skill design and how it interacts with items and the environment. I want to see skills that are situational but lock out other skills or make them less effective.

posted a message on What if they increased player cap?
It does not matter to me since i like to play single player because that is where the real challenge is and where all the fun is.

Most of the time when I played online the players for the most part had a mentality of a fallen. Even in Multi I played alone and had more fun.

I remember seeing one store have it set for December 2008 for release. I bet some people fell for that and bought preorder copies. I have a gut feeling we will not see D3 until 2012 the earliest. I think there are going to be delays for Starcraft 2 which will then push the release date back for D3.
