While I find both to be amusing, South Park has considerably more substance and doesn't leave me feeling empty and bored immediately after it is over.

Actually, pretty basic physics explains the whole arrows thing. It's the difference between firing the bolt from above while in forward motion and at close range compared to firing from far away, on the ground, while retreating. One will definitely have considerably more energy than the other. ;)

But I'm not a math person, so I wont try and back up my claims. Anyways, like you guys were saying, it's just a movie anyways, so who cares really? :P

Umpa65, I actually read your entire post and agree with a lot of the things you said (though, to be honest, it seems like when it comes to this movie everyone on both sides of the fence are just repeating themselves over and over again). I think it's important to think of a movie like this less as "have we experienced this idea before?" and more like "what does this new version of the idea offer us?". In many cases, the answer will just be "entertainment". In this case, though, I think there is more.

Beyond the obvious 'splosions and pretty shiny things that keep this movie interesting to the eye, the relate-ability of the characters was tremendous, despite their obvious physical differences. They still felt genuine (at least to me) within the context of the film and the na'vi were an interesting, if not totally original, group of primitive warriors.

I think, perhaps, the most important point to make about this film, though, is that James Cameron has been imagining all this since he was a child. The script was finished over 15 years ago. The only reason this story didn't exist many, many years ago was because it was not technically possible at the time. How much less 'cliche' would this story have been in 1995 than it is now? Considerably.

In the end it just comes down to personality of the viewer. What they feel they have seen enough of vs. what they care enough about to see again. What they enjoy vs. what they would rather avoid, etc, etc. As long as you watch it before you bash it, I have no problem with anyone disliking it - not to mention, as long as they let me keep my own opinion as well. ;)

Hi, Psyxix. I was wondering if you would be kind enough to make me a signature. My experience with Photoshop is minimal to say the least and it was annoying for me to even have to crop a picture for my Avatar avatar (now I'm catching onto the fun of saying that). I don't need or want anything fancy. Just something blue and preferably Avatar-related so that it matches. Also, please take your time since Daemaro says you have been busy lately. :)

    Thanks!

I'm sure its clear that I really enjoyed this film. I was one of the applauding people in my theatre. I just love the timelessness of the message that other people called "old" or "stale". It's not stale. It's just been so relevant for so long. I thought the acting was really good too, and the special effects were amazing. I was especially impressed with how well the actors were captured in the digital characters. They looked so real!

Also, blue people are totally awesome. I know what I'm doing for Halloween next year. ;)

The blue name is simply an unexpected bonus of the position here. I had no idea until I signed up that I would be color-coded to my favorite. I mean, let's face it: blue is the sexiest color ever.

I want to thank everyone who posted in here, whether it was a welcome, a warning, or a wonderance (is that a word?). This seems like a really lively community and one that will not be scared to give me feedback while I am learning the ropes of these boards. I'll try to answer all the questions that were asked of me, but I must warn that I am tired from a long day of having information forcibly implanted into my brain by so-called "professors".

The new Diablo Patch doesn't greatly affect me, actually, since I almost always play singe-player. From what I know of it, though, it seems like it offers a lot of quick fixes to minor problems that aren't really going to hold up long into the future. Except the re-specialization part. That is good change.

As for favorite characters. If you mean within the Diablo series it might have to be the Assassin. She's kick-ass and she has black hair, like me, so it makes me feel like I'm actually in the game. Is that weird? If you meant in general, it would probably be Neytiri from Avatar. But I'm kind of like a bird when it comes to favorite characters. I sort of fly over to a new one every time I see something shiny. :P

My qualifications in forum moderation (that sounds overly official, but what are you going to do) date back a bunch of years to when Daemaro and I were both members on this little old Lord of the Rings forum that doesn't even exist anymore. Most of my moderation there involved the more technical forum stuff, as opposed to the other-member stuff, although I was actively involved in the forums as a user. That site eventually faded into obscurity when the owner decided he couldn't keep paying for it and it shut down.

I've moderated a few other boards and administrated a couple as well. I'm sure few, if any of them, exist anymore. I've sort of taken the last few years off from that sort of thing to really focus on my studies. But I mean, really, all it takes to moderate is a good understanding of the rules, a level head, and the ability to function outside of bias. The advantage I have is I don't really know anyone personally yet, so I can't have a bias. ;) Still, I think that my technical knowledge of the innermost workings of VBulletin will come in handy as well as my interest in human behavior and conflict-management.

I don't want to say that I'm an expert though. Far from it. That's why I'm not in charge and am what we used to call on an old board a "junior" moderator. I really want everyone to be comfortable with me before I start making any sort of judgments. It just wouldn't be right otherwise. :)

    Hi. My name is Nya.

In case you didn't realize, there's no need to panic. The title of this thread is a joke. I'm not here to subjugate. Jeff (who you will all know as Daemaro), who is an old friend of mine, brought me on board today to test the waters as another moderator here for the new years.

Don't worry, though, I know from experience just how scary a new person can be. So I want to make it clear I intend to learn all the rules of this site and get to know you, the members, and become acquainted with this community before I do anything of any importance. Even then, my importance will likely be slim.

I'll start off with a little about myself:

My name is Nya. I'm 20, going on 21. Currently a University student in New Jersey (I moved here from Canada to live with my Dad's family - go free room and board!). If you couldn't tell: I'm obsessed with the movie Avatar, at least for now. If there's anything else you want to know about me, please ask me. I don't bite. :)
