Dec 9, 2009Captain_VanGore posted a message on Location similarities in Diablo II and IIIFor me, it's not the environments that are the issue, it's the starting towns. Even if the environments only differ slightly (there are only so many environments in the world), the game will be lost if there is no variety or interest in the towns. For example; what’s happening in these towns dictates how the environments around react and vice versa. I was hoping that D3 would have a much stronger sense of story – or detail. A good example was the beginning of the wizard trailer.Posted in: News
So far we have New Tristram and Caldeum, both are similar to act 1 and 2 in D2, but I’m hoping that the difference of the npc’s, the town and the small differences in the environment will be very satisfying. This coupled with something completely new like a watery/coastal area would be fantastic. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I was 6, and had no idea what I was doing. Somehow, between running around in circles and not listening to people talking, I made it out of town and into the fields. I was running in glorious happy sunlight thinking "this is great!" - then the sun suddenly set, it night fell and skeletal warriors rose out of the ground and chased me. I ran to the little outpost in the middle of the field and stayed there until we had to take the game back to the video rental store.
And a few years ago, I was playing F.E.A.R with my friend; we were walking around in an abandoned office, just after finding a dead body. We were going very slowly (in spite of ourselves we had the volume way up too) and once we were finished exploring we went "aw well let move on" we walked towards the elevator and it crashed with an enormous sound- I jumped out of my seat and my friend fell over. And ironically, a few minutes after we gathered ourselves, the phone rang and we screamed again. F.E.A.R was awesome.
