its a different team entirely. Everyone except a few trolls is reasonably happy with the dev team for D3.
This criticism is intended for the legacy team and its management, as well as whoever at blizz determined that the legacy team is about 1/50th as important as their kitchen staff.

Nov 20, 2009treckin posted a message on More Hopes Dashed, 1.13 Delay Going StrongWell. i dont see shared stash coming at all, but I would love it if Blizz were to make a liar out of me!Posted in: News
What could be better than that? They would have mentioned it by now if thats a feature. I mean, I would have said, "Well, we couldnt increase the stash size bleh bleh bleh, but we did make it shared, which increases the size sotospeak."
Im a little worried that we have seen everything, all of the features. Unless its something radical, I feel like the team would have thrown us whatever they had when they biffed the completion of Stash. -

I'm not that eagerly waiting for the patch, so I don't personally mind. When the patch comes, I'll start playing D2 again (if there's something neat coming).
But to me, Blizzard is still and will always be the number one gaming company on the planet (and on the other planets too).

Nov 19, 2009treckin posted a message on More Hopes Dashed, 1.13 Delay Going StrongSC2 is sure to blow the socks off the rest of the PC gaming market; MW2 is nothing. You thought millions of sweaty teenagers lined up for that 3peat, wait until SC2 hits the shelves. It wil be the true return of PC gaming.Posted in: News
People fail to realize that PC gaming is NOT dead, blizzard is just sleeping.
Who else remembers when SC:BW and D2LOD and WCIII AND WOW were all top hits?
You used to be able to type a random string of keys "asdfadfhadfgsDFASFDH" as the gamename in d2, and it would already exist!!
or a run would say "dankbaal-002" 1 person. When you join, it would be full.
Remember having to wait anxiously for hte joingame list to refresh? Now its just 15 games, 8 bots and 7 people looking for ptorches. -

Me as well. I cant live w/o good ol' d2 at 1920 x 1080 on my 52" LCD. And what if I have to CONTINUE to clean out my bot's stash every 6 hours instead of the 12 they promised a year ago? And what will I do if I cant play a new area after playing the same 6 for 10 years?!?!?!
I hate blizzard and their $20 = 10 years of amazing-ness gamer paradigm. (I dont play wow...)
---> As a side note I do play D2 on my 52" tv, but only at 800 x 600 obviously.
Interestingly, as my friend and I were discussing the other day, resolution in D2 is discussed differently than with other games. 800 x 600 in D2's sprite engine looks about ^3 as good as a 3d rendered game. The density of the detail is stunning, and the the sprite engine itself allows d2 to be just a series of badass pictures rendered 25 times per second.
To be honest, Im not sure how the graphics of D3 hope to be better. Torchlight looked like WOW's retarded friend to me, and I thought i was eeeeerrrrriiiilllyyyy like D3. Its too bad they didnt choose some awsome crazy nutz nextgen sprite engine for d3 8-D
2d has so much more character than 3d. -

Your quote analysis is a little baseless, IMO.
Your conclusion is plucking all the right strings however.... -

Nov 16, 2009treckin posted a message on Another Patch Promise, Will it Prove Itself?Perhaps they fixed the stash issue by migrating D2 over to bnet 2.0, and 1.13 is co-releasing with SC2 at the end of this week...Posted in: News

I like it. Keep up the good work.

I always thought that the end of me would be the day they announce World of Diablo.
Happily awaiting destruction...

In channel time meant sitting on bnet screen, talking to people. Not in game, doing something.
If you can only have 3 other ppl in a game, if you want to meet up with 5-7 ppl, you have to do it in a channel. This means you cannot make a trans game for a bunch of friends, but have to talk to them in the channel.
0
Less people = naturally less socializing, smaller dual games, smaller trading games, smaller rushes, more time talking to many people in channels.
These reasons are not dependent on skill arrangements and screen real-estate.
In fact, i noted specifically why I think that D3 would uniquely support more players comfortably than D2.

I would personally hope that the max would be raised to 10-12, but thats just me. It seems like with a greater resolution rendering engine (as opposed to fixed resolution sprites a la D2), fitting more on the screen is an easily achievable task. Additionally, the more versatile nature of 3D should allow for more expansive battlegrounds, thus eliminating much of the clutter associated with a 2D frame based game.
Edit: As a side note, I was always surprised that they never instituted attributes that were dependent on party size in D2... eg. + x to skill (a) (x = number of players in party).
They could in fact have like + x to life/Dex/mana/all stats per party member. Sort of like set gear, but dependent on party size.
Otherwise, gear that gives Attr only on presence of a specific class or item on another char. to promote team play.
Anyway...

Not that retarded is fun
Basically, no wep/shield, only reg attack.

Time will always restrain in "frames" when we can attack on screen, but going to a rendered device allows the game to calculate actions independently of the renderer. IMO this is an inferior system, as now hits do not necessarily coinside with the actuall blow.
Its taken some of the feel out of the game, from the looks of it. Not so much feedback on strike. Torchlight and wow are perfect examples of this failing. I like sprites. I wish they had gone sprites in 1920x1080 ROFL.

I made a frenzy uber barb last nigh:
Beast zerk axe
Last Wish Zerk axe
CoH
Arreats face
Drac's
Verdungo's (15)
2x angelic + angelic ammy
Goblin toes / gore riders
WC'gs and 5 res sc's
I havent run trist yet, but it fucks up lillith and durial and izzy, so im sure trist is not prob.
I still need to try a few variations, bit this is a neat build.
Max frenzy, double swing, axe mast, BO
1pt in prereqs and increase speed, nat res, battle command
Rest in taunt (syn w/ frenzy)
GL
small explanation: CB is how you get the ubers to 1/5 life. CB maxes at 90%, so anything above is overkill (gob toes are 25, so I am over). Everything after that is raw dmg.
Leech and tap and fade are the most important. Best to get fade to kick before you go in.
For res, meph is like -180 res, so you need ~300 to res to have max after curse.

Blizz has stated that they will look into the glide wrapper tech, but that for now it is against the eula.
By the way, d2 runs very well in glide, as the game was optimized for 3dfx cards.

I had this, solved it. SEARCH.
You should check that glide wrapper out. We are not allowed to discuss using them on these forums, but so you know, that will fix your problem 100%.
Google is your friend.
I used to get 2-6 fps sporadicatlly, now I never drop below 300.
Also, you will need desktop composition and visual themes disabled (no compatibility mode).
This changed my life. I play in a 52 inch lcd. I have a 9800mgts 1GB vidcard, overclocked C2D.
I cant link to the proper glide wrapper, but just look, they are there.
The mods may allow it if we dont proport to use the wrapper on Bnet.
Mod?
