I don't understand, how you can have more than 100%. For me and all mathematics lovers : 100% mean an entire so with 100% I must find always magic items but it's FALSE !!!!

Before you try to insult me, try to have some idea what you are talking about. 100% mf doesn't mean that you have a 100% chance of having a magic item drop. It means that you have 2 times the base chance of having a magical item drop.

Ignoring the effects of diminishing returns, let?s say that with 0% mf an item has a 1% chance of dropping as unique from a particular monster. If you have 100% mf, then you increase the chance to 2%. 200% mf you increase the chance to 3%. See how that works?

You make me laugh no need 800% just 400% ahahha I've still never got that percent. You need to have MF to find MF items, if you don't have MF you'll never find MF. So it's a infinity cycle.

That?s not true, mf is not required to find any particular type of item, it can just increase the chances. If you have not been able to obtain 400% mf on a character then you either have not put in much effort, or you are implementing the wrong strategy. It's not all that hard to do.

MF it's ok but keep it simple please, don't be exaggerate, keep small amount of percent and respect the logic of mathematics.

I assure you that the Diablo programmers have a firm grasp of fundamental mathematics. They are not going to keep things simple for the sole purpose of comforting those that do not.

posted a message on Auras to Return in Diablo III?
Auras are fun, but they do present some balance issues when all partied members benefit. When a character has auras (like the pally), they design his other skills with this in mind. If single player is to be balanced, then the killing power of each character needs to be balanced. This leads to a situation where the character with auras will need the auras to perform comparably to the other character types. For instance, in D2 the pally, barb, and zon were fairly well balanced on their own, however, a frenzy barb or bowazon with a pally level fanat were freakin ridiculous.

I'm also interested in seeing how runes would work with Auras. Didn't they mention somewhere that runes will work with absolutely all skills? Makes me wonder how a Multistrike rune on things like Slow time will work.

This actually presents an interesting possibility. They could design the auras to only effect the aura'd character. But, one of the runes could provide the benefit of effecting partied members as well (multistrike would be appropriate for this). Of course, there would be some downside as well, such as percentage decrease in aura effect for all characters. This way the aura'd character would have to sacrifice some benefit for the purpose of being a "supporter".

What about the people that aren't even close to having the best gear? They wouldn't stand a chance at all.
Then they would have to put effort into getting better gear before advancing.

I'm disagree with you, MF in d2 is extremly not balanced, When I start to play d2 (like many people) I thought 20% MF is good, but LIE the meaning of pourcent was broken. 20% was not really 20% but 0,002% (I think something ridiculous like that).
But that's not how it worked. If you have 20% mf, then that actually represents something close to 20% (maybe 18 or 19%). However, the affects of added mf diminish based on how much you have. 20% is pretty much 20%, but 400% is actually more like 150% or so. And that is only for sets, rares, and uniques, I am pretty sure that the effects did not diminish for regular magic items.

This is why it is silly for people to think that they needed 800% mf. You could build a sorc with 350-400% mf that effectively had the same mf benefits and could still kill very effectively.

I'm not agree when you said "all XP should be based off of damage dealt" because I think you'll have other way to kill or even more important, you'll have more than the damage to bring to your team ( healing, weakness, bonus... etc.)

    Good point.

When I say : The d2 game turn into a geek no life players game and I really dont like that.

I mean, The begin of the game is good but at the end, when you need to redo many time to have better items, I find that boring, I feel like wasting my time. Exemple : I never find soj, i never make runeword, i never see all kind of uber and I got many character above level 70.
So, you would rather the game be easy and not require a time investment? I agree, those that obtain godly status cannot have lives. But that is the price that they pay for doing the things you listed above.

posted a message on Story behind inactivity of D2 classes in D3 is kinda silly
I remember reading somewhere that they were also going to do away with the barbarian. They were creating a different type of character (can't remember what they were calling him), but during development they realized that they were just remaking the barb and so stuck with the old name.

I understand that they do not want to remake D2, but I do not fully understand the point of trashing the old characters. Maybe trash the druid and assassin, but the barb, sorc, pally, and necro should have stayed.

But we can at the same time not let someone with level 5 runes have a too big advantage over someone with level 4 runes, it would screw up PvP (unless there is some kind of advanced matchmaking).
Again, if there is not a significant difference based on rune level, then what is the point of having rune levels?

Didn't Blizzard say that no runes would really be too rare?

And it should be that way. At least, I know for a fact they said something like "nothing will be anywhere as rare as the runes in D2".
An item could be nowhere near as rare as some runes in D2 and still be pretty darn rare!!

If there are going to be 5 levels of runes, then the occurence difference between each level needs to be considerable. If not, then we will all soon have all slots socketed with the highest runes. If this is the case, then what is the point of having 5 levels to begin with?

It certainly doesn't keep me interested. Rather makes me feel I'm not able to wear what I want because then what I want later won't drop. Better items should be available as you progress through the game and kill faster. MF means killing SLOWER. Now tell me there isn't something wrong with that. MF doesn't speed anything up, either, because in order to compensate for MF, basic magic find will drop.
Exactly, therefore you create characters with the intention of maximizing killing power, and you also create characters with the intention of magic finding. See, variety.

Everyone gets equal and everyone stops worrying about that and plays the game...
Right, but there is only so much game to be played. There needs to be multiple dimensions to the game. Magic finding is another dimension. It provides another goal in character building and provides another activity to keep things from getting too monotonous.

Let?s face it, pursuit of items is basically the whole point of Diablo. Making players feel as though they can become as efficient as possible at achieving this will keep people interested.

posted a message on "MF, additional XP, additional gold, speed increase, etc. on items"?
I would like to see MF implemented in a manner similar to that of D2, it was a valuable aspect of the game (in terms of adding to the fun). People complain that you could get to much MF in D2, however, it was a system of diminishing returns (800% wasn't much different than 400%). Therefore, arguing that getting enough MF to be affective decreased killing power or survivability to an unusable level only pertains to people that were silly about their choice of MF gear. A person has to be strategic in their gear choices, which adds to the fun of building and using a character.

Building characters for specific purposes (MFing, damage, PvP, leveling, goldfind) also adds to the sense of variety in the game. If this is all integrated into each character in a systematic way then the variety in character type will be diminished.

And capping these attributes is a horrible idea. For instance, if the cap for MF is 100% then EVERY character would have exactly 100% mf. They would all be the same. If all characters end up the same then what is the point of having the attribute in the first place?

I would be impressed with D3 if it was basically a remake of D2 (in nearly every way) with different landscapes and quests, updated graphics, and most importantly cheat, duping, and bot prevention. Oh ya, getting rid of monsters that can cast Iron Maiden would also be nice.

Not saying that I will not be impressed otherwise, in fact I expect to be pleasantly surprised. However, creating a game as described above would be a surefire method for success.
