posted a message on Auras to Return in Diablo III?

When asked specifically about the Monk's armor type, since it has been heavily discussed that it would not be normal for the Monk to be using heavy armor, Wilson responded with an echo from Diablo's past, where all characters were able to wear any kind of armor regardless of their class

So how are they gonna work armor requirements, in the other diablos armor had a lvl requirement and also a str requirement for the heavier types, and since stats are going to be auto now, we won't be able to pump str on say a wizard to use heavier armor. So will armor just have a lvl based requirement or still lvl and str but your wizard just wont be able to use plate mail until he/she reaches a lvl with req. str.
I guess it would make the most sense to just have a str requirment on them, but then theres the way WoW handles it - only have a lvl requirement and then exclude lighter classes from wearing heavier armor.. hmm, i dont think they'll do that... I couldnt find a thread for this so any thoughts and/or info would be greatly appreciated.

I think a ranger would fit in perfectly, they don't have a char for the sword or the bow and the ranger can use both. To start with he could be ripping through flesh and armour with arrows and then if theres too many guys and they close in on him he can whip out his sword and slice through the rest. So just like the barb has dual wield the ranger can have a quick swap between sword and bow. Like a combination of Aragorn and Legolas ( yeh i just watch LotR again recently) god that would be awsome, that would be my fav char i think :D

Is it just me or do ranged weapons like bows (not AoE like bombs) not fitting in to what blizzard are making D3 look like ie. enphasis on action/melee/AoE. With hordes and hordes of enemies coming at you a ranged char would have to fire off 10 arrows at once or have a rediculous rate of fire like 10/s, otherwise they'd have to be buffed or have some kind of AoE dmg, a pet is an absolute must then i guess. And in a party it seems like they won't have much use because they've beefed up the melee attackers so much.
I'm gonna say ranger, cos it seems to be a logical mix of rogue/amazon from D1/D2 like others were saying, but it's deffinately gonna be interesting to see how they balance this char... if it is ranged...

posted a message on I miss something in D3 classes...
Reading through most of that just made me want to learn more of the characters stories and what role they play in sanctuary. I also feel there is still something missing in the D3 char's, but we all know how anal blizzard are with balancing, and they're pretty good with stories too, who knows what the finished product will be... It could be totally different to what we're seeing/hearing atm. Don't forget blizzard has scrapped a whole project that was near completion. Not that im saying they'll do that with D3 but you can see what lengths they go to to maintain there integrity.

    LOL, i said anal. :P

Odin, that's gotta be the best suggestion i've heard yet. Put the option in to use auto or manual stats.. Sure you(blizzard) could say that most people will just go for auto anyway so why bother, but giving the option has got to be dead set easy and makes it a win-win situation for everyone surely! Blizzard should seriously consider this! As for the original post from Tracx, thanks mate you really pointed out how useless it is to compare D2/D3/WOW with each other..

On another note, bashiok, i think what blizzard are doing with the world of sanctuary is brilliant, having static exteriors makes for a more living/breathing world (not unlike WoW which has some awesome design/scenery in it) and also making it more believable in that for the most part the world stays the same. In my opinion that kind of randomness doesnt add anything to the game e.g. D2: in one instance the river might be flowing from east to west and in another instance, oh look it's now flowing north to south, fancy that. From what you've described of what blizzard are doing with D3 in this respect i believe they're spot on!

And as far as the car analogy goes, i'll put it this way - instead of comparing different models in the same period i think its more useful comparing the same models in different periods. So compare a 70/80's car with a car of today, you have improvements like power steering, ABS, airbags, fuel efficiency, traction control, cd/dvd player to name a few.. And then theres things that made sense that they kept the same e.g. they still have 4 wheels, still 2/4 door still generally the same body shape bla bla bla.
So the car of today is a product of old ideas with new ideas and even a combination of old ideas and new ideas mixed together (OMG could he mean something taken from WoW?)

So theres my car analogy, hopefully it makes sense :D
