I just hope that Diablo III is out before December 21st, 2012. I need to play before the world is torn apart.

maybe the earth itself colapses when blizz realeases d3. so they release dec 21st, and then the Earth goes all "OH NO, AFTER ALL THIS TIME? NOT REAL *puf* colapses"

    or...

blizz releases dec 21st, and there is a profecy like "when the third game from the lord is released, the lord of terror itself shall arise and inflict chaos on earth" probably Nostradamus has something like that.

or maybe, just maybe, the mayas really had a vision... but it was just the release party of d3, no end of the world or apocalypse...

if you destroyed those sculptures u are stupid... sorry for the word, but it's my sincere opinion

i don't agree, actually after my first sculpture, my teacher made everybody destroy it's own. The fun is at doing it, not looking at it for 2 years.
i wouldn't have time or space to finish it, so it happened.

I don't feel bad about starting it over sometime, i actualy see it as a chance to learn more, and improve the statue. Very common BTW, you get to a point when you don't like the way the sculpture turned out, and you can't see how to fix something that it's bodering you... you REDO IT ALL.
    it's always better.

I think it's fairly clear that they expect to maintain the same ferocious slaughterfest that Diablo has always been. As long as they don't fall into the pit of anime style models that they did with WoW I think we'll be okay.

I don't want to see retarded weapons where swords are twice as tall and half as wide as the guy wielding it... or shoulder pads that make you look like you intend to jump off the barn roof and fly... and wrists wider than your face? What did they do? See how many different drugs they could jam in the same pipe?

Any developer who even suggests such modeling should be taken out back and shot.

    lol nice point.
although i think it's funny the wow's weapons and armor style, (not the chars and the colors) it really wouln't suit verywell d3.

need more slaughterfest... with normal shoulder pads...

Imagine you're a car company many years ago. All of your cars have manual windows. Your main rival car company invents in a new technology - power windows. Their sales sky-rocket, and power-windows began to become a common feature, because it offers something consumers want. Do you adopt this technology?

How many musical artists have been influenced by other cross-genre artists with a totally different fanbase? A lot.

I want Diablo 3 to have a distinct Diablo 3 style, a distinct Diablo 3 look, and have distinct Diablo 3 gameplay. But the fact of the matter is, there are certain core things that were developed or polished in WoW that can be applied to help improve the general balance and "smoothness" of any rpgish game.

Most importantly, I think we should have a little faith in Blizz. I think they're aware we don't want a DiabWoW.

    Till next time :)

i totally agree, actually wow has many diablo components, like even some skills, totally diablo based.
there some great stuff in wow, like the whole end game fun.

but i don't like wow, i feel like a Peon (specially if i'm a orc, lol) working hard everyday just to get some fun in the end and loosing most of my time to it.

but every now and then i feel like playing again wow, then i get there, play 3 hours, and i'm bored. too slow...

    d2 i play 3 hours, and i want more.

i love the chaos in CS when you get in the middle of everybody, are just spamming pots, and clicking everything and almost yelling.

Sorry to tell you this, but that card is pretty much pointless with 1 GB.
It's speed is not high enough to make full use of that 1 GB.
A 512MB one is somewhat just as good. xD

(I have a nVidea Geforce 9600 GT of 512mb, there also was a 1GB model. I asked the shop owner if I should buy the 1Gb one instead, but it said that the card was to slow to fill it and your card is pretty much the same but slower. :P)

EDIT: By the time D3 gets released I'm hoping I have my hands on a 22inch screen with the latest graphic card. (Need a job, need a job. Need 3600 euro. xD

partially true... 1gb on this card won't see much use unless you are going with very high resolution and heavy textures...

but going that far, the bottleneck will probably be other. like the gpu speed.
but depends on the game, and the price.

For general reasons, i agree with the shop owner.
but if you read some reviews, you might see that some games can take advantage from that (but not much, won't worth it).

but that science is not so simple...

i really think anyone with a dual core, 2gb ram and a gef 6600 or higher, will be able to run d3 ok... that's what i think by looking at the screenshots.

textures are not that intesive, geometry also not. On scII they dropped the need to 3.0 shaders (so even a 5900 maybe can run it), playing safe, the lowest and oldest full fledged nvidia gpu with 3.0 shaders is the 6600 series.

(the others lower than 6600 are just cripled chips)...
and they even had some of those with 256mb (with i think, considering the lcd's today resolution, won't do any good having only 128mb)

i can play left 4 dead on my a x2 3800 , 3gb ram and 6800 GS... and looks way better than d3.

if you can turn off high particles effects, then it will run on very old machines smoothly.
(but you maybe won't see that much gore)

my opinion based on what i saw on webs.

Could he be the one who did this?

as far as i know, this one was made by other guys, Sideshow Collectibles only deals with that and may not have anything to do with blizzard.

just checked out the site on the product and was not made by him (other guys did, their name are there)

i have a guess we won't see ever his work inside blizzard unless blizzard put it up somewhere.

he usually only shows things that he made at his spare time or when he does something for siggraph or magazines that will get public.

wow, dude, this is.. amazing. I am into sculpting a bit (a very little bit...), and i know how hard it is to make something that even remotely resembles a rock. But this is just astonishing 12 and a half thumbs up.

Thats great dude! i actually stopped coz i'm living in a small place, and don't have the space to do it. but i love sculping, i really miss doing it.

keep in mind that the most important thing, is to know how to translate the proportions and overall shape. The details are just work.

many guys jump to perfecting the detailing, and it looks good if you are not a critic. But any shaper eye will see the flaws and when he points them, everyboy will see them.

do not skip the basics, otherwise you will be only a half-baked artist.

also, remember(keep in mind that many don't agree with that i'm going to say, but my teacher said it, and i totally agree with him).

Even if you are doing something totally wired, you need some references, some pictures to look, nothing good comes out of nowhere. Really, doing his arms, i would look to some bodybuilders' muscles and adapt a bit. just for an example.

and of course, analyze other artist's work, Know Anatomy if you want to do characters... i have some books of anatomy for arts (like the FAMOUS Anatomy for an Artist - Sarah Simblet, but i have 4/5 different books of anatomy) i also have books of star wars arts, and some movie concept art books... having and using references is a great thing!

if you can improve by learning with the masters, then you are going somewhere!

to learn is not to copy, but sometimes copying is a learning tool.
(of course when you do your work, you don't copy others, but just for an example, look at some Protoss concepts, don't they resemble "the predator" some way ?
and some zergs... Giger's Aliens ?
maybe those were the inspiration, but they came up with something with a whole new feel to it)

anyway ... keep going for it.

Maybe your teacher is responsible for this

Your sculpture looks pretty good btw, I was gonna say what does your teacher think when you make demon sculptures but then I read he went to work at Blizz so I guess its cool :D

No, that's low poly modeling, he is a great Zbrush user, and he almost doesn't models anything in polygons. I can actually see more of his work beign used in cinematics than ingame things. unless blizzard starts doing games using normal mapping.

he is a big nerd and fan of sci-fi, terror, dinosaurs, demonology, mythology...
everything from games, to comics and movies he already did a small sculpture.
you know what is strange? he draws demons, sculpts them, everything, listening to nice musics like Man at Work - Overkill , Simply Red, The police... not fan of metal of anything like that, he sees the beauty on it (even when drawing the predator)

that's a sample of his work:

just read at his blog, he works as Character Modeling in irvine.

Man, I wish I had a fraction of the talent that you have...

Not a talent, just a good teacher.

i was by the way, on the 2nd last class he teached to, after my class and other last one, he wen't to work at blizzard
    (yeah not kidding...)

but he is very professional so we never knew what exactly he was going to do there (it really took some time to him to CONFIRM he was going to), i know it was mainly Digital Sculpture, real Sculpting (these being the focus of his role there) and also, some character concepting.

but no idea if he is working in D3, SCII, WOW or new mmo. he will never tell.
there are also some people who says he did freelancer work to blizz b4 as char concepting, but again, he never told anybody.

i also have a 1:1 GOVERNOR OF CALIFORNIA MR ARNOLD's head, or at least a tentative of doing him.

    My oh my, that's amazing!

Is that clay? I used to work with clay.

    Hi friend from uruguay!
    (lol i'm brazillian)

no it is not clay, it's similar though. It's called plaster/plastilline something like that (not sure in english)

Not the same clay you use in Car Design and many artists like the guys at Stan Winston use.

It's natural Oil based, so it's allways soft, and when heated can get almost to liquid point, so it melts. Doesn't evaporates so never gets hard.

Clay / Sculpley and others are very expensive here.
