In all seriousness though the Item system is fine.
A ) You're one of those people who refuse to use the Gold Auction House "Just cause I don't wanna"
B ) You can't find anything good and are upset cause of it.
Making every item have a potential to be "amazing' would cause a huge influx of 'good' and then would retroactively make only the AMAZING items worth anything due to how many items were simply 'good'.

jwylie311 posted a message on Wow, who is lame enough to want a gear switch button?Wanting a gear switching button means you want to equip your best DPS/defense gear, lower an enemies health to 5% or lower, and equip extremely meaningless and poor items that happen to have high MF for the killing of the enemy.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion
That's f*cking lame. This would remove the entire idea of trying to build a nice MF set with minimal DPS/defense loss.
Is that what you losers want? No set of MF gear with minimal DPS/defense loss? You don't want to have a whole new and fun theorycrafting strategy to work on?

Umm, no. This is from a recent interview:Quote from DUNCAN99
Dude relax. By the way. They were making diablo 3 an action rpg still playing like a hack n slash but with mmo features. i'm quite sure it wouldn't be anything like WoW. More Diablo 2 LoD with more players. Actually sounds pretty darn awesome to me.
"You know, when I was working at Blizzard a million years ago we were working on Diablo 3 and it was an MMO. We were going to do the Diablo version of World of Warcraft. Blizzard obviously changed that pretty quickly, so we left to start Flagship Studios and we brought in a lot of the guys, so they rebooted with their own team."
Let me rephrase the critical part "We were going to do the Diablo version of World of Warcraft." Blizzard North was effectively turning Diablo into World of Diablo, they were making it an MMO. I always laugh when people start praising the North team as this infallible pillar of gaming excellence. In effect, they were destroying Diablo behind the scenes, and most people didn't even know about it. The D3 we have today is far closer to the Diablo franchise than the World of Diablo they were making, and Shaefer even applauded the current effort Blizzard has put into the game. I think that says a lot. -

Itll be interesting to see what prices on items are. It is bad enough seeing how over priced items in the gold AH is. Can't wait to see some people try and get $50+ on garbage gear haha. Wish there was a way to see who is selling the items, so I can msg them and tell them how retarded they are.
Man, just opened 3 different threads, all of which has you just being an angry person without really giving anything to the thread. What gives?
to OP; I'm surprised I havn't seen more on the RMAH if it is to go live tomorrow. But I'm assuming since the tooltip still says tomorrow and we haven't heard otherwise, that the patch tomorrow will also enable the RMAH. I can't wait to see how it turns out =D -

If you don't like it why do you spend hours writing an explanation for why you don't like it on a forum? You know what i do when I don't like a game? I just don't fucking play it. I put it away and go do something else with my life.Posted in: Diablo III General Discussion

How do you figure, sports fan? Am I to assume that the fact that these problems have occurred in pretty much all Blizzard releases doesn't bother you? It's like a new car coming out, and the spokesperson for the brand saying "Yeah, sorry folks, the first few batches came out with the brakes all wrong, just like our previous 10 models, but don't worry, we'll fix it eventually". It just defies all logic that this keeps happening release after release, and people still think it's 'normal' and 'natural'.
Yeah, the sheer number of people actually making excuses for them boggles the mind.
I dunno, it doesn't seem like an excuse, it just seems like reality. When you're setting up a set of servers so large they're going to serve the entire planet there is probably a lot of room for error there. We as external viewers probably aren't seeing the whole story; just that something isn't working.
I mean they've got three sets of servers at least for sure: authentication, data/stat table delivery, character cloud/achievement save
I think if you're expecting this to not happen at all you aren't respecting how complex computer programming and network design are. -

that is so not true...blizzard only continued to have more and more people log in at once at launch when new expansions of WoW came out...MoP will probably be the first to not increase that number since they have been losing too many players in the past year (compared to the final year of all the other versions). diablo 3 will be no different with expansions or perhaps when they get PvP enabled (I know a few friend who didn't play D1 or D2 and was only interested in the PvP aspect).
costly? costly?! this is BLIZZARD they can and SHOULD put their money up front to make sure everything is smooth...even if somehow after a few weeks they decide they didn't need as many servers they can always repurpose them for something else...I work in IT infrastructure, I know it's not a big deal if you got lots of capital like those guys
WoW = MMO
Diablo 3 = Hack and slash story based... smaller amount of content.
And obviously you are not high up in the IT infrastructure org chart if you cannot comprehend over expenditure....
Diablo has MORE content since it's randomized
I can totally comprehend over expenditure but you certainly cannot...it's called a loss leader and you'll get more sales and better recommendations when your game works correctly...it's embarassing for a company this big to still fail after 10+ years of online games
What you do is get more servers to handle auth load then later repurpose them...there will always be use for assets
Lol.
There's absolutely no financially viable reason to bolster the servers for a natural problem. Spending money on increasing server load for a problem that will go away on it's own in 48 hours is the kind of decision that will get you fired. It's incredibly short sighted and wasteful. It doesn't matter how much cash you have on hand, wasted money is still wasted.
There's no OMGLOLBBQFAIL here; anyone with any knowledge of client-server technology saw this coming, and we'll all forget it by Wednesday night. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

I can't necessarily comment on game testing.. but I am a SQA Engineer for a e-discovery (electric evidence for civil and criminal litigation) processing firm.
Test Engineers get pretty damn guru over their products after a while. I work on a hotfix team and end up supporting ALL our products at about 80-90% the knowledge base of our proactive teams. However... my knowledge spans ~ 10 different teams.

That is not how the temporal dimension of time works. You see ... time ... while not a constant is measured at near constants across the planet.
12:01PST is the EXACT same point in time across the planet. The symbol of what hour it is... fluxuates by timezone.
If what you mean is... it will be a later hour... than yes. EST is unable to play until a later time at night. hahah

The whole purpose of this weekend is to hammer the servers in order for blizzard to optimize them for release.
This isn't a fucking demo... so please just shut the fuck up.

Who the fuck would continuously run SK only to level their beta chars?
Blacksmith to SK runs are where its at:
1.) Quest Exp for Beating the Chancellor
2.) Event Exp if you stumble into jar of souls or bones of the matriarch.
3.) Chance at finding a Den of Fallen
4.) More Magic Drops per run
5.) More Content... and so... less repetitive

My wizard has 126 Int ... would have been able to farm up to 130+ (13 resistance).
Now to add to the topic... Int adds the elemental resistances (NOT PHYSICAL).
Armor decreases ALL damage (sames as elemental resistances + physical).
However, armor probably has a much higher diminishing return than resistances. Both are calculated with Raw Number vs enemy level... but with the resistance numbers being lower... the curve hasn't hit yet.
Also Resistances are additional reductions in addition to armor. If the wizard/wd stacks up 40% damage reduction with armor and 60% with resistances thats 74% less magic damage. If the barb has 60% damage reduction and 20% resistance... thats 68% less magic damage.

You've got it dead on. Blizzard is designed to be an AOE DoT... You toss it over an area and let it do DoT while you hurl other spells. 35% wd a second isn't that horrible really. GoTD is 20% for 8 seconds ... smaller area. Haunt is 47.9% per second for 12 seconds... with NO AOE.
Cycle your blizzards using arcane prodigy and unrelenting storm (blizzard rune) and you got yourself 490% weapon damage over 8 seconds.
While blizzard is raining on the area, you can cycle in other spells, gather up your 5 flashes of insight, and hurl another blizzard.

Here is a quick frost wizard build I made.
Ice Armor chills them so that you can trigger your Cold blooded +20% damage passive for all frost damage.
With a fast enough weapon (and depending on fast you can gain flashes) you can probably alternate between using Arcane Prodigy on your blizzard and your comet.
