Yeah, I dont think that you can determine a game's release date by the pace of their past progression. Unfortunately, we do not know exactly how much they have completed already. I believe I once heard on G4 that the majority of the game was already complete, however they were spending most of their time developing minor things (while not exactly minor, I would assume they mean random quests and assorted areas in different acts). And, according to bashiok, they are still developing the female version of the Monk. I dont believe for one second that they have no decided on the last class - in fact I'm pretty damn sure that the finals class is nearly complete.
A 2011 release seems to be most reasonable according to information given by Bashiok. Sigh.
Interesting find. I hate to be optimistic just to let my hopes get smashed... but who knows. I wouldnt be surprised if Blizz pulled something crazy and dropped Diablo a lot sooner than later.
I think my biggest question now, is to know the status of Starcraft 2. I don't really follow news on that game, seeing as how I never really played the first one (I was more of an Age of Empires guy).. but anyway, I would like to know how much Blizzard has released of SC2. Clearly more information on races and stuff, but have they really released a substantial amount of information about the game? Basically what I'm getting at - how much more have they released about SC2 than D3? Who knows.. maybe they could be at similar stages of production.
you guys, let's be realistic here. I'm as amped as anyone here, but I believe they will never ever ever ever ever ever release this game in 2010. They havent even released the last class. They haven't started beta testing. we've seen two acts so far with one dungeon and a limited range of monsters/quests. They'l probably announce the next class and act at blizzcon next year (2010). In that respect, with wow announced and SC 2, you can be sure it'l be released late 2011, beginning 2012. Sorry for being a non believer Xd

I am just curious to see when people feel Blizz will announce the game; should be interesting to see if my stocks gain that day due to a d3 announcement
I was hoping they would announce at Blizzcon, but clearly my hopes were set too high. I am now thinking they will give the announcement sometime early 2010 (MAYBE christmas time this year, tho that wouldn't do anything but piss off kids who want the game at xmas), and the game would be set to skeet (release) by Fall 2010 (maybe christmas or halloween). In any case, I think that the release date will be shortly after the day they make the announcement - however i'm sure the game will be a bit delayed.
Well I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit disappointed. At least the progress they are making seems to be impressive. I can't wait to try the game and kill MOBs
