I agree with you on the colors with yellow is flame and all that, but when you say white for a high energy beam don't you mean 'bright'? Think of a high conentrated shadow spell it's going to be darkish purple and black not white, but it will still be very bright, defining it's magnitude of power.

The same goes for Disintegrate its form is a pure red beam that is very bright defining how powerful it is to wipe out one but many monsters at one casting.

Yes, I meant bright, you are right :) That way, no matter which color is the spell, if its very bright, all we will is mainly white

Tell me Izanami, what exactly makes you think arcane isn't purple? What would you base your arguement off of to say that Arcane is not and cannot be purple? A real life example? The fact is, we don't have real visual magic, let alone arcane magic, in this world to base that off of. Its a fantasy world. Arcane could be any color of the rainbow for all we know, its not our world. Even if DnD said arcane magic should be effin yellow for all I care, Blizzard could make arcane any color they like. Since they already have arcane magic in previous games, and its typically purple, one could assume they would keep that idea in mind when making arcane magic in this game.

I personally understand that they changed the color to broaden the color spectrum in the different trees, but personally this red color doesn't make sense to me. Red is the color of fire. People see red and they associate it with fire. To me, if anything, highly focused arcane magic would probably look pure white. Thats just my opinion, however it could then also be confused with Holy magic. I did however see a really nice photoshop someone did of a pure white with purple outline that made it look really sweet and put no doubt in my mind that that was pure arcane energy.

We are talking primary colors here. For example, a pearl - colored car isn't white for you? A white color with purple/blue/pink GLOW is an arcane spell. Fire is not red, its primarily yellow. And holy is white, with a yellow glow, and it's very different from white with purple glow.

At the end, arcane can be ANY color. The thing about arcane is, its highly concentrated energy beam. It can be any color, it will still be white because of the "high energy".

Well, if it's arcane damage why not make it purple?

    Because Arcane is not purple?

I really hate the idea of Diablo being colorful. Bleh, its suppose to be scary, goth, dark .... this whole idea of rays changing colors seems childish to me. No offence

I would really like the Ranger idea, I find it hard to imagine Blizz to make the game with no bow-using class. Maybe even a Dark Ranger or something, to be more fitting into the whole Diablo lore.
@Trappist: I don't believe there will be a hunter , altho a Ranger would have all the skill a hunter should, just beacause they got a hunter in WoW.
And they say that passive skills in D3 will be at a minimum, just to avoid the paladin effect from D2: lots of auras, less stuff to click.

    a) Desintegrate is an Arcane Spell, I dont see a reason for it to do fire dmg ;)
    B) Changing colors? How about it has all the rainbow colors and if you kill some1 you get a free unicorn mount? Come on .... its Diablo .... It should have less vibrant colors, not more

I'm just curious, why do you even care about that now? We don't even know the starting 5 classes and you want to know about expansions and additional classes ... Most of the unofficial info here is based on speculation/logic/indefinite info from Blizzard posters. To sum it up, it is not cool to ask expansions now :P
