posted a message on weapon effects !?!
I'm pretty sure weapon effects pertains to the fact that the effect ON the weapons will be different. If you look at the barb's weapons in the first gameplay video, you see a lightning axe, cold axe with frost on it, and the flaming hammer.

Everyone should stop talking about the chat gem. I feel like they just put it there in order to generate confusion, which is essentially what is happening. F*** the system, and stop hyping it up!!! lol.

I was scared most for Mephisto. His voice kinda freaked me out when i was 10, and the abundance of gore also added to the feel...

posted a message on Quick Drawing of a Younger WD
I think it's the lack of hair and odd posture that makes him look older in some respects. The slightly chubby head/neck/torso does make him look a bit like a kid though. It's interesting. I especially like the weird green glow coming from him.

I think it'd be kind neat if someone drew a picture a young(kid) WD playing with his zombie dog/mongrel or something. Kid versions of the D3 characters in general could make for a funny picture(barbarian dragging an over sized axe with some dead monster in the background, perhaps holding a dead fallen by its neck in one hand, etc)

    Think about the children!!!

posted a message on why announce so early?
i dont undertand this, they released most of the information in 1 year, and ignored the biggest complaints from the community, even mocked us by making the diablo "rainbow shirt", everyone was complaining then bashiok comes by and says a few words, and the idiots who post in the blizz forums agree and say it is ok for them to announce a game 3-4 yaers prior to release...

it is not a marketing strategy either, because they dont need 3 years of advertising the game to make it popular, just like they made commercials for wow all they need is one commercial for d3 and it will catch on

I'm just venting some frustration, what are some of your thoughts guys?
Before you categorize this as "advertising", i urge you to read over marketing 101, because you've got it all wrong buddy. This ain't advertising, its building the hype. If you look at how firms in general release new products, this isn't any different my friend. Firstly, blizzard needs us. They need us for concept testing, prototypes, idea generation and all that stuff. Then they need to consistently screen most of what they produce to make sure it fits in well with corporate strategy and the game in general. I read a post by Bashiok saying that the reason why they announced it so early was to take us on for the ride!!

You're all true fans. You're posting in a forum, a lot of you daily or at least weekly for a game that most of you already expected was at least a year away. You're the passionate core of our community. Don't lose sight of that.

We're working hard to make a great game - and we announce as early as we do because we want you along for the ride. It's important for us to show all of you what we're working on and see what you think. It's integral to the development process. We can't just work in a vacuum, in a lot of ways we depend on you to let us know what's up so we can make a game that we're sure everyone is going to love.

So ... we got a little time. We still got plenty to show. Grab a chair. Stay a while.

Most people are interested not only in the final outcome of the game but its development process, so take your pragmatism somewhere else!! No offense intended

There will always be someone who will figure out how to get through those alarms no matter how good they are. Besides, I might not be able to afford good alarms when I'm older anyways.

And I think being anywhere in the Diablo world would be scary as hell. Think about it, everything in that world would seem just as real as the real world. So essentially you would be walking through dark forests surrounded by horribly realistic demons everywhere. It would be absolutely terrifying.

And I'm sure they'd incorporate other senses into virtual reality as well. I don't know if they'd let you feel pain but you'd likely be able to smell and feel everything else. It would be strange if you were walking around in a world where everything looks realistic but you can't feel anything.

Anyway, mainstream virtual reality probably won't be out in our lifetime unless we are very rich. The technology is simply much too expensive for the average joe to buy. Besides, we'll all be dead by 2012 anyway.

In here you're talking about the scary effects, without even touching on the positive ones. Imagine you could raise the dead with a single thought, shower your opponent with fire storm or leap 20 feet into the air and land a crushing blow on your opponent with your indestructible bonesnap maul. With these powers theres no real reason to fear anything... ;)
