In other words they should really look into D1 sucs not D2 thrash.

Seriously. Succubi and knights were my favorite monster classes of D1. There really is NO match in D2 for the tactical challange a room full of succubi gave to a warrior in D1. Even with the relatively simple AI and giant floor tile size, it is still a pain to round them up and beat them down.

The sound and looks don't compete either. The D2 sucs really are shadows next to the D1 versions. I'd be all for bringing back the bare chested models, it just adds another layer to the feeling of being in a world enveloped by evil. Think about it, what half-mad demoness would cover herself for no reason? It also creates a feeling of "Holy shit, there is a naked demon chick with wings coming at me. This could suck!"

I'll be playing D2 pretty heavily once 1.13 comes out, so sign me up! I'll probably base my first character on the patch notes and/or PTR testing. I'd like to be able to *not* make a sorc as first character, but we'll see how things go.

Account will probably Rousse2, since I don't want to delete all of this season's characters lol.

posted a message on Fire Druid?
You can get fissures damage to a decent level (I think I've gotten it to 5k or so with a level 40 fissure) but without an infinity its just not going to destroy things fast enough in hell.

The biggest issue with fire builds though is the cooldowns. Fissure shares a cooldown with firestorm, so you pretty much can only cast fissure, and no auxiliary spells. It cuts down on your damage pretty harshly.

At the moment I have a 75 fire druid (Naked) and an 85 wind druid (+24 elemental, nigma etc) and even if i were to put all the gear to the fire druid, he just would not be as fun or as strong as the wind. I think if I had an infinity to give his merc it might work, but wind is still a more rounded skill route with built in dual elements, even if hurricane's damage is a bit weak.

One that has not been mentioned here, but i'm sure will be after i post about it.

Gharbad the weak was one of the most awesome quests, he was so funny, and would give you a completely 100% random item, and then later drop another one, because it was "too good for you!" apparently.
I've had him drop an incredibly nice (for my level mind you) breast plate for my warrior on the first part.
The second part which he fights you for, dropped me a friggin club of draining or something, not sure of the stats, all i knew was that it either sucked or was detrimental.

Oh Gharbad, how i miss you so D:

Haha, Gharbad has actually helped shape the names of many of my characters or accounts over several games. I was playing D1 with a friend (Single player, taking turns playing) and Gharbad dropped The Executioner's Blade as the first item. The damn sword was so awesome looking (and not bad for level 4!) that we just kinda became obsessed with it, and made a new character called "The Executioner." In almost every game I've played ever since, I've had a character or account named something along the lines of that sword. I was kind of sad when it returned in D2 as only a base exceptional weapon.

Oh yea, the sword dropping from ghar is actually my top D1 moment as well :P

His excuses makes no technical sense.

Actually they do. For every weapon model you allow a character class to use, you have to design several swing animations for that weapon class, unique to the character class. For example, a 2h mace does not swing the same as a 2h sword, if you simply reuse the same animation, it looks awkward and cheap. By not allowing the wizard to use 2h swords and mauls, thats 2 less base attack animations to do, who knows if the wizard may have special melee attacks, creating 2 more animations that have to be developed and tested for each one.

Yea, it may limit a few things that we can do with classes down the road, but if they do the itemization right we really shouldn't even care. If they're careful not to put anything too nifty for casters on 2h weapons, why would you ever want to equip one?

posted a message on What powers do you think Azmodan and Belial will have ?
One of the things i'm eagerly waiting for is the interactive environments. I wonder how extensively the bosses will use this new feature. For Belial being the lord of lies, I'd love to see some audio worked into the fight, like he'll yell before doing powerful attacks to give you warning, but sometimes will play you false and either not cast on a warning, or give no warning and cast. I think having audio cues would be a cool element, and you could really have a lot of fun on Belial with it, messing with player's heads and all :)

    posted a message on Greetings!
    Hello there!

I've been playing a following the Diablo series pretty much since its launch. I picked the game up in 1997, while still in elementary school, and have been playing that, D2, and D2:loD off and on ever since.

I figured that I've been getting info for D2 & 3 from this site for a few years now, so might as well pay my dues, sign up and contribute a little!

I've been gobbling up every bit of info I can on D3 since last years WWI, and have been participating in discussions on WoW's D3 forum (under the name Tahmuras) and have recently started contributing to the B.net D2 & 3 forums. I'm looking forward to some fun discussions here as well.

posted a message on D1 meta games
I've played through D1 more times than I can remember. It is pretty much my favorite game of all time, but after a while, even it can get a little boring.

In order to deal with this, I've started trying to do little meta games within D1, to make it harder, or more interesting. Some simple ones are cross building characters, like making a sorcerer go through the game, without using any spells only melee (or Ranged) attacks.

But my favorite one, and by far the hardest thing I've tried in any game for a while, is to beat the game without ever returning to town, except to turn in Lazarous' staff. I've not been able to do it yet. I've made it to around level 12 with a warrior before I ran out of HP pots and was just getting mauled by magma demons. I made it to level 14 with a rogue, but it was filled with Blood Knights and some variant of the snake creatures and I just couldn't get enough space to kill them in the opening of the level. I was also treating this like D2 hardcore mode, so i just stopped playing once I died on these characters.

So what are your favorite games within the game? What have you tried and succeeded or failed at?
